2010-07-15nfnetlink_log: do not expose NFULNL_COPY_DISABLED to user-spacePablo Neira Ayuso
This patch moves NFULNL_COPY_PACKET definition from linux/netfilter/nfnetlink_log.h to net/netfilter/nfnetlink_log.h since this copy mode is only for internal use. I have also changed the value from 0x03 to 0xff. Thus, we avoid a gap from user-space that may confuse users if we add new copy modes in the future. This change was introduced in: http://www.spinics.net/lists/netfilter-devel/msg13535.html Since this change is not included in any stable Linux kernel, I think it's safe to make this change now. Anyway, this copy mode does not make any sense from user-space, so this patch should not break any existing setup. 2010-07-14net: fix problem in reading sock TX queueTom Herbert
Fix problem in reading the tx_queue recorded in a socket. In dev_pick_tx, the TX queue is read by doing a check with sk_tx_queue_recorded on the socket, followed by a sk_tx_queue_get. The problem is that there is not mutual exclusion across these calls in the socket so it it is possible that the queue in the sock can be invalidated after sk_tx_queue_recorded is called so that sk_tx_queue get returns -1, which sets 65535 in queue_index and thus dev_pick_tx returns 65536 which is a bogus queue and can cause crash in dev_queue_xmit. We fix this by only calling sk_tx_queue_get which does the proper checks. The interface is that sk_tx_queue_get returns the TX queue if the sock argument is non-NULL and TX queue is recorded, else it returns -1. sk_tx_queue_recorded is no longer used so it can be completely removed. 2010-07-14net/core: neighbour update OopsDoug Kehn
When configuring DMVPN (GRE + openNHRP) and a GRE remote address is configured a kernel Oops is observed. The obserseved Oops is caused by a NULL header_ops pointer (neigh->dev->header_ops) in neigh_update_hhs() when void (*update)(struct hh_cache*, const struct net_device*, const unsigned char *) = neigh->dev->header_ops->cache_update; is executed. The dev associated with the NULL header_ops is the GRE interface. This patch guards against the possibility that header_ops is NULL. This Oops was first observed in kernel version 2.6.26.8. 2010-07-14net/sched: potential data corruptionDan Carpenter
The reset_policy() does: memset(d->tcfd_defdata, 0, SIMP_MAX_DATA); strlcpy(d->tcfd_defdata, defdata, SIMP_MAX_DATA); In the original code, the size of d->tcfd_defdata wasn't fixed and if strlen(defdata) was less than 31, reset_policy() would cause memory corruption. Please Note: The original alloc_defdata() assumes defdata is 32 characters and a NUL terminator while reset_policy() assumes defdata is 31 characters and a NUL. This patch updates alloc_defdata() to match reset_policy() (ie a shorter string). I'm not very familiar with this code so please review carefully. 2010-07-14net: skb_tx_hash() fix relative to skb_orphan_try()Eric Dumazet
commit fc6055a5ba31e2 (net: Introduce skb_orphan_try()) added early orphaning of skbs. This unfortunately added a performance regression in skb_tx_hash() in case of stacked devices (bonding, vlans, ...) Since skb->sk is now NULL, we cannot access sk->sk_hash anymore to spread tx packets to multiple NIC queues on multiqueue devices. skb_tx_hash() in this case only uses skb->protocol, same value for all flows. skb_orphan_try() can copy sk->sk_hash into skb->rxhash and skb_tx_hash() can use this saved sk_hash value to compute its internal hash value. 2010-07-14ath5k: clean up rxlink handlingBruno Randolf
There were a few places where the sc->rxlink pointer was set to NULL "just in case". This helps nothing - quite to the contrary it is problematic since it can create self-linked rx descriptors in the middle of the list of receive buffers. Here is an example how this could happen (thanks Bob!): cpu 0: cpu 1: ath5k_rx_stop ath5k_tasklet_rx sc->rxlink = NULL; /* just in case */ // following doesn't link used // buffer to prev. ath5k_rxbuf_setup() In the case of ath5k_rx_stop() and ath5k_stop_locked() buffers/descriptors are not changed so rxlink should not be changed as well. In ath5k_intr() we seem to try to work around a hardware bug, as the comment (which is copied 1:1 from the HAL) suggests. I don't see how this could help. Also the HAL does not set rxlink in this case (So where does this code come from? It has been there since the first import of ath5k). Changed to just increment a statistics counter. After this patch rxlink is only set to NULL before we initialize rx descriptors and updated when the descriptors are linked together. 2010-07-14ath5k: disable tasklets during resetBob Copeland
Based on a patch from Bruno Randolf, attempting useful work while we are resetting the chip just leads to interface lockups and bad descriptor data, and possibly DMAing to freed buffers. Let's suspend all tasklets while reprogramming the registers in the card to avoid such problems. In the future we can convert the tasklets to threaded interrupt handlers to simplify things. 2010-07-14ath5k: move reset to mac80211 workqueueBob Copeland
We currently trigger a reset via a tasklet when certain error conditions are detected so that the card will (eventually) restart. Unfortunately this makes locking complicated since reset can also be called in process context (e.g. for channel change). Currently nothing protects against concurrent resets, which can be the source of corruption bugs. Reset takes too long to spinlock the whole thing, so this patch moves deferred resets into the mac80211 workqueue to enable use of sc->lock mutex. 2010-07-14cfg80211: don't get expired BSSesJohannes Berg
When kernel-internal users use cfg80211_get_bss() to get a reference to a BSS struct, they may end up getting one that would have been removed from the list if there had been any userspace access to the list. This leads to inconsistencies and problems. Fix it by making cfg80211_get_bss() ignore BSSes that cfg80211_bss_expire() would remove. 2010-07-14ath9k: another fix for the A-MPDU buffer leakFelix Fietkau
The patch 'ath9k: fix a buffer leak in A-MPDU completion' addressed the issue of running out of buffers/descriptors in the tx path if a STA is deleted while tx status feedback is still pending. The remaining issue is that the skbs of the buffers are not reclaimed, leaving a memory leak. This patch fixes this issue by running the buffers through ath_tx_complete_buf(), ensuring that the pending frames counter is also updated. "hostap: Protect against initialization interrupt" (which reinstated "wireless: hostap, fix oops due to early probing interrupt") reintroduced Bug 16111. This is because hostap_pci wasn't setting dev->base_addr, which is now checked in prism2_interrupt. As a result, initialization was failing for PCI-based hostap devices. This corrects that oversight.
