2013-06-20x86: Add a static_cpu_has_safe variantBorislav Petkov
We want to use this in early code where alternatives might not have run yet and for that case we fall back to the dynamic boot_cpu_has. For that, force a 5-byte jump since the compiler could be generating differently sized jumps for each label. 2013-06-20x86: Sanity-check static_cpu_has usageBorislav Petkov
static_cpu_has may be used only after alternatives have run. Before that it always returns false if constant folding with __builtin_constant_p() doesn't happen. And you don't want that. This patch is the result of me debugging an issue where I overzealously put static_cpu_has in code which executed before alternatives have run and had to spend some time with scratching head and cursing at the monitor. So add a jump to a warning which screams loudly when we use this function too early. The alternatives patch that check away in conjunction with patching the rest of the kernel image. [ hpa: factored this into its own configuration option. If we want to have an overarching option, it should be an option which selects other options, not as a group option in the source code. ] Signed-off-by: Borislav Petkov <bp@suse.de> Link: http://lkml.kernel.org/r/1370772454-6106-4-git-send-email-bp@alien8.de Signed-off-by: H. 2013-06-20leds: Convert led class driver from legacy pm ops to dev_pm_opsShuah Khan
Convert drivers/leds/led-class to use dev_pm_ops for power management and remove Legacy PM ops hooks. With this change, led class registers suspend/resume callbacks via class->pm (dev_pm_ops) instead of Legacy class->suspend/resume. When __device_suspend() runs call-backs, it will find class->pm ops for the led class. Signed-off-by: Shuah Khan <shuah.kh@samsung.com> Signed-off-by: Bryan Wu <cooloney@gmail.com>

2013-06-20leds: renesas-tpu: cleanup a small type issueDan Carpenter
Static checkers complain that, although this is declared as an unsigned long, we can only use the lower 32 bits. For anything higher, we hit bugs widening then bitwise negate or wrapping bugs doing the left shift. From looking at the context, this is not a problem because we only use 16 bits. 2013-06-20clk: add support for Rockchip gate clocksHeiko Stübner
This adds basic support for gate-clocks on Rockchip SoCs. There are 16 gates in each register and use the HIWORD_MASK mechanism for changing gate settings. The gate registers form a continuos block which makes the dt node structure a matter of taste, as either all 160 gates can be put into one gate clock spanning all registers or they can be divided into the 10 individual gates containing 16 clocks each. The code supports both approaches. Signed-off-by: Heiko Stuebner <heiko@sntech.de> Signed-off-by: Mike Turquette <mturquette@linaro.org>
2013-06-21cpufreq: Fix governor start/stop race conditionXiaoguang Chen
Cpufreq governors' stop and start operations should be carried out in sequence. Otherwise, there will be unexpected behavior, like in the example below. Suppose there are 4 CPUs and policy->cpu=CPU0, CPU1/2/3 are linked to CPU0. The normal sequence is: 1) Current governor is userspace. An application tries to set the governor to ondemand. It will call __cpufreq_set_policy() in which it will stop the userspace governor and then start the ondemand governor. 2) Current governor is userspace. The online of CPU3 runs on CPU0. It will call cpufreq_add_policy_cpu() in which it will first stop the userspace governor, and then start it again. If the sequence of the above two cases interleaves, it becomes: 1) Application stops userspace governor 2) Hotplug stops userspace governor which is a problem, because the governor shouldn't be stopped twice in a row. What happens next is: 3) Application starts ondemand governor 4) Hotplug starts a governor In step 4, the hotplug is supposed to start the userspace governor, but now the governor has been changed by the application to ondemand, so the ondemand governor is started once again, which is incorrect. The solution is to prevent policy governors from being stopped multiple times in a row. A governor should only be stopped once for one policy. After it has been stopped, no more governor stop operations should be executed. Also add a mutex to serialize governor operations. [rjw: Changelog. 2013-06-21PM / Sleep: Print last wakeup source on failed wakeup_count writeJulius Werner
Commit a938da06 introduced a useful little log message to tell users/debuggers which wakeup source aborted a suspend. However, this message is only printed if the abort happens during the in-kernel suspend path (after writing /sys/power/state). The full specification of the /sys/power/wakeup_count facility allows user-space power managers to double-check if wakeups have already happened before it actually tries to suspend (e.g. while it was running user-space pre-suspend hooks), by writing the last known wakeup_count value to /sys/power/wakeup_count. This patch changes the sysfs handler for that node to also print said log message if that write fails, so that we can figure out the offending wakeup source for both kinds of suspend aborts. 2013-06-21PM / QoS: correct the valid range of pm_qos_classSahara
The valid start index for pm_qos_array is not 0, but PM_QOS_CPU_DMA_LATENCY. There is a null_pm_qos at index 0 of pm_qos_array. We need more fine-grained control about the point in time when we check for privileged instructions, since the exceptions that can happen during an instruction have a well-defined priority. For example, for the PFMF instruction, the check for PGM_PRIVILEGED_OP must happen after the check for PGM_OPERATION since the latter has a higher precedence - thus the check for privileged operation must not be done in kvm_s390_handle_b9() already.
