2013-08-27libata: acpi: Remove ata_dev_acpi_handle stub in libata.hAaron Lu
The ata_dev_acpi_handle is defined in libata-acpi.c and the only external user is libata-zpodd.c, which is built when CONFIG_ATA_ACPI is set, so there is no need to make an empty stub function for ONFIG_ATA_ACPI case in libata.h. It also causes compile errors due to acpi_handle is not defined when !CONFIG_ACPI. This patch fixes this problem by removing the empty stub. The trick here is that when we carry soft dirty status in swap entries we are to use _PAGE_SWP_SOFT_DIRTY instead, because this is the only place in pte which can be used for own needs without intersecting with bits owned by swap entry type/offset. 2013-08-27usb: xhci: Disable runtime PM suspend for quirky controllersShawn Nematbakhsh
If a USB controller with XHCI_RESET_ON_RESUME goes to runtime suspend, a reset will be performed upon runtime resume. Any previously suspended devices attached to the controller will be re-enumerated at this time. This will cause problems, for example, if an open system call on the device triggered the resume (the open call will fail). Note that this change is only relevant when persist_enabled is not set for USB devices. This patch should be backported to kernels as old as 3.0, that contain the commit c877b3b2ad5cb9d4fe523c5496185cc328ff3ae9 "xhci: Add reset on resume quirk for asrock p67 host". 2013-08-27regcache-rbtree: Fix reg_stride != 1Lars-Peter Clausen
There are a couple of calculations, which convert between register addresses and block indices, in regcache_rbtree_sync() and regcache_rbtree_node_alloc() which assume that reg_stride is 1. This will break the rb cache for configurations which do not use a reg_stride of 1. Also rename 'base' in regcache_rbtree_sync() to 'start' to avoid confusion with 'base_reg'. Each time snd_soc_dapm_new_widgets() is called it will instantiate all the widgets and routes that have been added so far and then power them. Doing this multiple times before the card is fully initialized and all widgets have been added can cause unnecessary and even invalid power state transitions which can result in extra register writes and and also might cause clicks and pops. dct_base and dct_limit obtain 32 bit register values when they read their respective pci config space registers. A left shift beyond 32 bits will cause them to wrap around. Similar case for chan_addr as can be seen from the bug report (link below). In the patch, we rectify this by casting chan_addr to u64 and by comparing dct_base and dct_limit against properly shifted sys_addr in order to compare the correct bits. This patch adds flags and routines to get device list & selection info on a pin. To support Display Port 1.2 multi-stream transport (MST) over single DP port, a pin can support multiple devices. Please refer to HD-A spec Document Change Notificaton HDA040-A. A display audio codec can set flag "dp_mst" in its patch, indicating its pins can support MST. But at runtime, a pin may not be multi-streaming capable and report the device list is empty, depending on Gfx driver configuration. 2013-08-27powerpc/hvsi: Increase handshake timeout from 200ms to 400ms.Eugene Surovegin
This solves a problem observed in kexec'ed kernel where 200ms timeout is too short and bootconsole fails to initialize. Console did eventually become workable but much later into the boot process. Observed timeout was around 260ms, but I decided to make it a little bigger for more reliability. This has been tested on Power7 machine with Petitboot as a primary bootloader and PowerNV firmware. 2013-08-27powerpc: Work around gcc miscompilation of __pa() on 64-bitPaul Mackerras
On 64-bit, __pa(&static_var) gets miscompiled by recent versions of gcc as something like: addis 3,2,.LANCHOR1+4611686018427387904@toc@ha addi 3,3,.LANCHOR1+4611686018427387904@toc@l This ends up effectively ignoring the offset, since its bottom 32 bits are zero, and means that the result of __pa() still has 0xC in the top nibble. This happens with gcc 4.8.1, at least. To work around this, for 64-bit we make __pa() use an AND operator, and for symmetry, we make __va() use an OR operator. Using an AND operator rather than a subtraction ends up with slightly shorter code since it can be done with a single clrldi instruction, whereas it takes three instructions to form the constant (-PAGE_OFFSET) and add it on. 2013-08-27powerpc: Don't Oops when accessing /proc/powerpc/lparcfg without hypervisorBenjamin Herrenschmidt
/proc/powerpc/lparcfg is an ancient facility (though still actively used) which allows access to some informations relative to the partition when running underneath a PAPR compliant hypervisor. It makes no sense on non-pseries machines. However, currently, not only can it be created on these if the kernel has pseries support, but accessing it on such a machine will crash due to trying to do hypervisor calls. In fact, it should also not do HV calls on older pseries that didn't have an hypervisor either. Finally, it has the plumbing to be a module but is a "bool" Kconfig option.
