2014-03-26cpufreq: resume drivers before enabling governorsViresh Kumar
During suspend, we first stop governors and then suspend cpufreq drivers and resume must be exactly opposite of that. i.e. resume drivers first and then start governors. Revert commit df86f5df79d8 (ACPI / processor: Make it possible to get APIC ID via GIC). APIC ID refers the hardware ID of the CPU, which means MPIDR on ARM/ARM64, but in ACPI 5.0, GIC ID feild in GIC structure have no explicit definition and may not refer to the MPIDR. Commit df86f5df79d8 assumed that gic->gic_id as MPIDR which may not be the case, so revert it until the explicit definition of GIC structure is ready. 2014-03-26ACPICA: Enable auto-serialization as a default kernel behavior.Lv Zheng
The previous commit "ACPICA: Add auto-serialization support for ill-behaved control methods" introduced the auto-serialization facility as a workaround that can be enabled by "acpi_auto_serialize": This feature marks control methods that create named objects as "serialized" to avoid unwanted AE_ALREADY_EXISTS control method evaluation failures. Enable method auto-serialization as the default kernel behavior. The new kernel parameter is also changed from "acpi_auto_serialize" to "acpi_no_auto_serialize" to reflect the default behavior. 2014-03-26ACPICA: Ignore sync_level for methods that have been auto-serialized.Bob Moore
Cannot use a sync_level for methods that have been serialized at load-time or runtime because this may interfere with any existing use of sync_levels within the ASL code. So, we simply ignore the sync_level for these methods, thus preserving any existing sync_level priorities. Note, the use of sync_levels is actually rather rare within BIOS ASL code. 2014-03-26ACPICA: Add auto-serialization support for ill-behaved control methods.Bob Moore
This change adds support to automatically mark a control method as "serialized" if the method creates any named objects. This will positively prevent the method from being entered by more than one thread and thus preventing a possible abort when an attempt is made to create an object twice. Implemented by parsing all non-serialize control methods at table load time. This feature is disabled by default and this patch also adds a new Linux kernel parameter "acpi_auto_serialize" to allow this feature to be turned on for a specific boot. 2014-03-26ACPICA: Remove global option to serialize all control methods.Lv Zheng
According to the reports, the "acpi_serialize" mechanism is broken as: A. The parallel method calls can still happen when the interpreter lock is released under the following conditions: 1. External callbacks are invoked, for example, by the region handlers, the exception handlers, etc.; 2. Module level execution is performed when Load/LoadTable opcodes are executed, and 3. The _REG control methods are invoked to complete the region registrations. B. For the following situations, the interpreter lock need to be released even for a serialized method while currently, the lock-releasing operation is marked as a no-op by acpi_ex_relinquish/reacquire_interpreter() when this mechanism is enabled: 1. Wait opcode is executed, 2. Acquire opcode is executed, and 3. Sleep opcode is executed. This patch removes this mechanism and the internal acpi_ex_relinquish/reacquire_interpreter() APIs. Lv Zheng. I noticed KVM is broken when KVM in-kernel XICS emulation (CONFIG_KVM_XICS) is disabled. The problem was introduced in 48eaef05 (KVM: PPC: Book3S HV: use xics_wake_cpu only when defined). It used CONFIG_KVM_XICS to wrap xics_wake_cpu, where CONFIG_PPC_ICP_NATIVE should have been used. 2014-03-26KVM: PPC: Book3S HV: Fix incorrect userspace exit on ioeventfd writeGreg Kurz
When the guest does an MMIO write which is handled successfully by an ioeventfd, ioeventfd_write() returns 0 (success) and kvmppc_handle_store() returns EMULATE_DONE. Then kvmppc_emulate_mmio() converts EMULATE_DONE to RESUME_GUEST_NV and this causes an exit from the loop in kvmppc_vcpu_run_hv(), causing an exit back to userspace with a bogus exit reason code, typically causing userspace (e.g. qemu) to crash with a message about an unknown exit code. This adds handling of RESUME_GUEST_NV in kvmppc_vcpu_run_hv() in order to fix that. For generality, we define a helper to check for either of the return-to-guest codes we use, RESUME_GUEST and RESUME_GUEST_NV, to make it easy to check for either and provide one place to update if any other return-to-guest code gets defined in future. Since it only affects Book3S HV for now, the helper is added to the kvm_book3s.h header file. We use the helper in two places in kvmppc_run_core() as well for future-proofing, though we don't see RESUME_GUEST_NV in either place at present. 2014-03-26gpio: add IRQ chip helpers in gpiolibLinus Walleij
This provides a function gpiochip_irqchip_add() to set up an irqchip for a GPIO controller, and a function gpiochip_set_chained_irqchip() to chain it to a parent irqchip. Most GPIOs are of the type where a number of lines form a cascaded interrupt controller chained onto the primary system interrupt controller (or further down the chain) so let's add this helper and factor the code to request the lines to be used as IRQs, the .to_irq() function and the irqdomain into the core as well. This should fix automatic fan management on fermi cards who do not have 0x46 entries in the thermal table. On my nve6, the blob sets the default linear range from 40°C to 100°C but my nvcf's default values are 40°C to 85°C. Let's keep 85 as a default for everyone. This should fix a deadlock that has been reported to us where fan_update() would hold the fan lock and try to grab the alarm_program_lock to reschedule an update. On an other CPU, the alarm_program_lock would have been taken before calling fan_update(), leading to a deadlock. *hpos horizontal scanout position doesn't need to be corrected to count the pixels between hactive end and htotal negative. That is only needed for *vpos to count lines until end of vblank for the vblank timestamping. Use hpos as is without correction. Removes occassional spikes in timestamps of up to 1 scanline duration, thereby improves accuracy to about +/- 2 usecs instead of +/- 12 usecs, wrt. true onset time as measured with high precision equipment on NV-A5.
