2012-01-05ASoC: OMAP: HDMI: Correct signature of ASoC functionsRicardo Neri
These functions require access to IP-secific data. However, it is not possible to pass such data as a function argument as such functions have a specific signature specified by ASoC. Instead, they will have access to the IP-specific data by calling snd_soc_codec_get_drvdata. The codec driver data is set at probe time. 2012-01-05ASoC: OMAP: HDMI: Introduce driver data for audio codecRicardo Neri
Under the new DSS architecture for HDMI, there is a clear separation between general DSS code and HDMI IP-specific data. Functions that require access to the HDMI driver IP-specific data receive an hdmi_ip_data structure. The ASoC codec require access to such IP-specific data. Then, instead of accessing it directly, it will be passed as codec driver data. This also helps to have a clear separation between DSS and ASoC portions of the code. 2012-01-05microblaze: Change NO_IRQ to 0Michal Simek
As has been discussed many times[1], Using NO_IRQ set to anything other than 0 is bug waiting to happen since many drivers follow the pattern "if (!irq)" for testing whether or not an irq has been set. This patch changes the Microblaze NO_IRQ setting from -1 to 0 to bring it in line with most of the rest of the kernel. It also prepares for Microblaze eventually supporting multiple interrupt controllers by breaking the assumption that hwirq# == Linux IRQ#. The Linux IRQ number is just a cookie with no guarantee of a direct relationship with the hardware irq arrangement. At this point, Microblaze interrupt handling only supports only one instance of one kind of interrupt controller (xilinx_intc). This change shouldn't affect any architecture code outside of the interrupt controller driver and the irq_of mapping. Updated to 3.2 and to use irq_data.hwirq by Rob Herring. Tested and fixed by Michal Simek. Toshiyuki identified that the following race happens: jbd2_journal_lock_updates() |jbd2_journal_stop() ---------------------------------------+--------------------------------------- write_lock(&journal->j_state_lock) | . ++journal->j_barrier_count | . spin_lock(&tran->t_handle_lock) | . atomic_read(&tran->t_updates) //not 0 | | atomic_dec_and_test(&tran->t_updates) | // t_updates = 0 | wake_up(&journal->j_wait_updates) prepare_to_wait() | // no process is woken up. spin_unlock(&tran->t_handle_lock) | write_unlock(&journal->j_state_lock) | schedule() // never return | We fix the problem by first calling prepare_to_wait() and only after that checking t_updates in jbd2_journal_lock_updates(). 2012-01-04[media] drxk: Add support for parallel mode and prints mpeg modeMauro Carvalho Chehab

2012-01-04firmware: Fix an oops on reading fw_priv->fw in sysfs loading fileNeil Horman
This oops was reported recently: firmware_loading_store+0xf9/0x17b dev_attr_store+0x20/0x22 sysfs_write_file+0x101/0x134 vfs_write+0xac/0xf3 sys_write+0x4a/0x6e system_call_fastpath+0x16/0x1b The complete backtrace was unfortunately not captured, but details can be found here: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=769920 The cause is fairly clear. Its caused by the fact that firmware_loading_store has a case 0 in its switch statement that reads and writes the fw_priv->fw poniter without the protection of the fw_lock mutex. since there is a window between the time that _request_firmware sets fw_priv->fw to NULL and the time the corresponding sysfs file is unregistered, its possible for a user space application to race in, and write a zero to the loading file, causing a NULL dereference in firmware_loading_store. Fix it by extending the protection of the fw_lock mutex to cover all of the firware_loading_store function.
