2016-11-21pktcdvd: mark as unmaintained and deprecatedJens Axboe

2016-11-21bnx2: use READ_ONCE() instead of barrier()Eric Dumazet
barrier() is a big hammer compared to READ_ONCE(), and requires comments explaining what is protected. READ_ONCE() is more precise and compiler should generate better overall code. Signed-off-by: Eric Dumazet <edumazet@google.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2016-11-21udp: avoid one cache line miss in recvmsg()Eric Dumazet
UDP_SKB_CB(skb)->partial_cov is located at offset 66 in skb, requesting a cold cache line being read in cpu cache. We can avoid this cache line miss for UDP sockets, as partial_cov has a meaning only for UDPLite. Signed-off-by: Eric Dumazet <edumazet@google.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Daniel Borkmann says: ==================== Couple of BPF refcount fixes for mlx5 Various mlx5 bugs on eBPF refcount handling found during review. Last patch in series adds a __must_check to BPF helpers to make sure we won't run into it again w/o compiler complaining first. v2 -> v3: - Just reworked patch 2/4 so we don't need bpf_prog_sub(). - Rebased, rest as is. v1 -> v2: - After discussion with Alexei, we agreed upon rebasing the patches against net-next. - Since net-next, I've also added the __must_check to enforce future users to check for errors. - Fixed up commit message #2. - Simplify assignment from patch #1 based on Saeed's feedback on previous set. ==================== Signed-off-by: David S. 2016-11-21bpf: add __must_check attributes to refcount manipulating helpersDaniel Borkmann
Helpers like bpf_prog_add(), bpf_prog_inc(), bpf_map_inc() can fail with an error, so make sure the caller properly checks their return value and not just ignores it, which could worst-case lead to use after free. 2016-11-21bpf, mlx5: drop priv->xdp_prog reference on netdev cleanupDaniel Borkmann
mlx5e_xdp_set() is currently the only place where we drop reference on the prog sitting in priv->xdp_prog when it's exchanged by a new one. We also need to make sure that we eventually release that reference, for example, in case the netdev is dismantled, otherwise we leak the program. 2016-11-21bpf, mlx5: fix various refcount issues in mlx5e_xdp_setDaniel Borkmann
There are multiple issues in mlx5e_xdp_set(): 1) The batched bpf_prog_add() is currently not checked for errors. When doing so, it should be done at an earlier point in time to makes sure that we cannot fail anymore at the time we want to set the program for each channel. The batched refs short-cut can only be performed when we don't need to perform a reset for changing the rq type and the device was in opened state. In case the device was not in opened state, then the next mlx5e_open_locked() will aquire the refs from the control prog via mlx5e_create_rq(), same when we need to perform a reset. 2) When swapping the priv->xdp_prog, then no extra reference count must be taken since we got that from call path via dev_change_xdp_fd() already. Otherwise, we'd never be able to release the program. Also, bpf_prog_add() without checking the return code could fail. 2016-11-21bpf, mlx5: fix mlx5e_create_rq taking reference on progDaniel Borkmann
In mlx5e_create_rq(), when creating a new queue, we call bpf_prog_add() but without checking the return value. bpf_prog_add() can fail since 92117d8443bc ("bpf: fix refcnt overflow"), so we really must check it. Take the reference right when we assign it to the rq from priv->xdp_prog, and just drop the reference on error path. Destruction in mlx5e_destroy_rq() looks good, though. 2016-11-21cpufreq: Avoid using inactive policiesRafael J. Wysocki
There are two places in the cpufreq core in which low-level driver callbacks may be invoked for an inactive cpufreq policy, which isn't guaranteed to work in general. Both are due to possible races with CPU offline. First, in cpufreq_get(), the policy may become inactive after the check against policy->cpus in cpufreq_cpu_get() and before policy->rwsem is acquired, in which case using it going forward may not be correct. Second, an analogous situation is possible in cpufreq_update_policy(). Avoid using inactive policies by adding policy_is_inactive() checks to the code in the above places. Signed-off-by: Rafael J. 2016-11-21cpufreq: intel_pstate: Generic governors supportRafael J. Wysocki
There may be reasons to use generic cpufreq governors (eg. schedutil) on Intel platforms instead of the intel_pstate driver's internal governor. However, that currently can only be done by disabling intel_pstate altogether and using the acpi-cpufreq driver instead of it, which is subject to limitations. First of all, acpi-cpufreq only works on systems where the _PSS object is present in the ACPI tables for all logical CPUs. Second, on those systems acpi-cpufreq will only use frequencies listed by _PSS which may be suboptimal. In particular, by convention, the whole turbo range is represented in _PSS as a single P-state and the frequency assigned to it is greater by 1 MHz than the greatest non-turbo frequency listed by _PSS. That may confuse governors to use turbo frequencies less frequently which may lead to suboptimal performance. For this reason, make it possible to use the intel_pstate driver with generic cpufreq governors as a "normal" cpufreq driver. That mode is enforced by adding intel_pstate=passive to the kernel command line and cannot be disabled at run time. In that mode, intel_pstate provides a cpufreq driver interface including the ->target() and ->fast_switch() callbacks and is listed in scaling_driver as "intel_cpufreq". Signed-off-by: Rafael J. 2016-11-21mfd: qcom-pm8xxx: Clean up PM8XXX namespaceLinus Walleij
The Kconfig and file naming for the PM8xxx driver is totally confusing: - Kconfig options MFD_PM8XXX and MFD_PM8921_CORE, some in-kernel users depending on or selecting either at random. - A driver file named pm8921-core.c even if it is indeed used by the whole PM8xxx family of chips. - An irqchip named pm8xxx since it was (I guess) realized that the driver was generic for all pm8xxx PMICs. As I may want to add support for PM8901 this is starting to get really messy. Fix this situation by: - Remove the MFD_PM8921_CORE symbol and rely solely on MFD_PM8XXX and convert all users, including LEDs Kconfig and ARM defconfigs for qcom and multi_v7 to use that single symbol. - Renaming the driver to qcom-pm8xxx.c to fit along the two other qcom* prefixed drivers. - Rename functions withing the driver from 8921 to 8xxx to indicate it is generic. - Just drop the =m config from the pxa_defconfig, I have no clue why it is even there, it is not a Qualcomm platform. (Possibly older Kconfig noise from saveconfig.) NMI stack dumps are bracketed by the following tags: <NMI> ... <EOE> The ending tag is kind of confusing if you don't already know what "EOE" means (end of exception). For example: <#DF> ... <EOE> And similarly, "EOI" is used as the ending tag for interrupts: <IRQ> ... <EOI> Change the tags to be more comprehensible by making them symmetrical and more XML-esque: <NMI> ... </NMI> <#DF> ... </#DF> <IRQ> ... </IRQ> Signed-off-by: Josh Poimboeuf <jpoimboe@redhat.com> Acked-by: Frederic Weisbecker <fweisbec@gmail.com> Acked-by: Peter Zijlstra (Intel) <peterz@infradead.org> Cc: Andy Lutomirski <luto@kernel.org> Cc: Borislav Petkov <bp@alien8.de> Cc: Brian Gerst <brgerst@gmail.com> Cc: Denys Vlasenko <dvlasenk@redhat.com> Cc: H. The token table passed into match_token() must be null-terminated, which it currently is not in the perf's address filter string parser, as caught by Vince's perf_fuzzer and KASAN.
