2023-09-20Bluetooth: Avoid redundant authenticationYing Hsu
While executing the Android 13 CTS Verifier Secure Server test on a ChromeOS device, it was observed that the Bluetooth host initiates authentication for an RFCOMM connection after SSP completes. When this happens, some Intel Bluetooth controllers, like AC9560, would disconnect with "Connection Rejected due to Security Reasons (0x0e)". Historically, BlueZ did not mandate this authentication while an authenticated combination key was already in use for the connection. This behavior was changed since commit 7b5a9241b780 ("Bluetooth: Introduce requirements for security level 4"). So, this patch addresses the aforementioned disconnection issue by restoring the previous behavior. 2023-09-20Bluetooth: Fix hci_link_tx_to RCU lock usageYing Hsu
Syzbot found a bug "BUG: sleeping function called from invalid context at kernel/locking/mutex.c:580". It is because hci_link_tx_to holds an RCU read lock and calls hci_disconnect which would hold a mutex lock since the commit a13f316e90fd ("Bluetooth: hci_conn: Consolidate code for aborting connections"). Here's an example call trace: __dump_stack lib/dump_stack.c:88 [inline] dump_stack_lvl+0xfc/0x174 lib/dump_stack.c:106 ___might_sleep+0x4a9/0x4d3 kernel/sched/core.c:9663 __mutex_lock_common kernel/locking/mutex.c:576 [inline] __mutex_lock+0xc7/0x6e7 kernel/locking/mutex.c:732 hci_cmd_sync_queue+0x3a/0x287 net/bluetooth/hci_sync.c:388 hci_abort_conn+0x2cd/0x2e4 net/bluetooth/hci_conn.c:1812 hci_disconnect+0x207/0x237 net/bluetooth/hci_conn.c:244 hci_link_tx_to net/bluetooth/hci_core.c:3254 [inline] __check_timeout net/bluetooth/hci_core.c:3419 [inline] __check_timeout+0x310/0x361 net/bluetooth/hci_core.c:3399 hci_sched_le net/bluetooth/hci_core.c:3602 [inline] hci_tx_work+0xe8f/0x12d0 net/bluetooth/hci_core.c:3652 process_one_work+0x75c/0xba1 kernel/workqueue.c:2310 worker_thread+0x5b2/0x73a kernel/workqueue.c:2457 kthread+0x2f7/0x30b kernel/kthread.c:319 ret_from_fork+0x1f/0x30 arch/x86/entry/entry_64.S:298 This patch releases RCU read lock before calling hci_disconnect and reacquires it afterward to fix the bug. 2023-09-20Bluetooth: hci_sync: Fix handling of HCI_QUIRK_STRICT_DUPLICATE_FILTERLuiz Augusto von Dentz
When HCI_QUIRK_STRICT_DUPLICATE_FILTER is set LE scanning requires periodic restarts of the scanning procedure as the controller would consider device previously found as duplicated despite of RSSI changes, but in order to set the scan timeout properly set le_scan_restart needs to be synchronous so it shall not use hci_cmd_sync_queue which defers the command processing to cmd_sync_work. 2023-09-20dm zoned: free dmz->ddev array in dmz_put_zoned_devicesFedor Pchelkin
Commit 4dba12881f88 ("dm zoned: support arbitrary number of devices") made the pointers to additional zoned devices to be stored in a dynamically allocated dmz->ddev array. However, this array is not freed. Rename dmz_put_zoned_device to dmz_put_zoned_devices and fix it to free the dmz->ddev array when cleaning up zoned device information. Remove NULL assignment for all dmz->ddev elements and just free the dmz->ddev array instead. Found by Linux Verification Center (linuxtesting.org). 2023-09-20riscv: Only consider swbp/ss handlers for correct privileged modeBjörn Töpel
RISC-V software breakpoint trap handlers are used for {k,u}probes. When trapping from kernelmode, only the kernelmode handlers should be considered. Vice versa, only usermode handlers for usermode traps. This is not the case on RISC-V, which can trigger a bug if a userspace process uses uprobes, and a WARN() is triggered from kernelmode (which is implemented via {c.,}ebreak). The kernel will trap on the kernelmode {c.,}ebreak, look for uprobes handlers, realize incorrectly that uprobes need to be handled, and exit the trap handler early. The trap returns to re-executing the {c.,}ebreak, and enter an infinite trap-loop. The issue was found running the BPF selftest [1]. Fix this issue by only considering the swbp/ss handlers for kernel/usermode respectively. Also, move CONFIG ifdeffery from traps.c to the asm/{k,u}probes.h headers. Note that linux/uprobes.h only include asm/uprobes.h if CONFIG_UPROBES is defined, which is why asm/uprobes.h needs to be unconditionally included in traps.c Link: https://lore.kernel.org/linux-riscv/87v8d19aun.fsf@all.your.base.are.belong.to.us/ # [1] Fixes: 74784081aac8 ("riscv: Add uprobes supported") Reviewed-by: Guo Ren <guoren@kernel.org> Reviewed-by: Nam Cao <namcaov@gmail.com> Tested-by: Puranjay Mohan <puranjay12@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Björn Töpel <bjorn@rivosinc.com> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20230912065619.62020-1-bjorn@kernel.org Signed-off-by: Palmer Dabbelt <palmer@rivosinc.com>

2023-09-20regulator: mt6358: split ops for buck and linear range LDO regulatorsChen-Yu Tsai
The buck and linear range LDO (VSRAM_*) regulators share one set of ops. This set includes support for get/set mode. However this only makes sense for buck regulators, not LDOs. The callbacks were not checking whether the register offset and/or mask for mode setting was valid or not. This ends up making the kernel report "normal" mode operation for the LDOs. 2023-09-20slab: kmalloc_size_roundup() must not return 0 for non-zero sizeDavid Laight
The typical use of kmalloc_size_roundup() is: ptr = kmalloc(sz = kmalloc_size_roundup(size), ...); if (!ptr) return -ENOMEM. This means it is vitally important that the returned value isn't less than the argument even if the argument is insane. In particular if kmalloc_slab() fails or the value is above (MAX_ULONG - PAGE_SIZE) zero is returned and kmalloc() will return its single zero-length buffer ZERO_SIZE_PTR. Fix this by returning the input size if the size exceeds KMALLOC_MAX_SIZE. kmalloc() will then return NULL as the size really is too big. kmalloc_slab() should not normally return NULL, unless called too early. Again, returning zero is not the correct action as it can be in some usage scenarios stored to a variable and only later cause kmalloc() return ZERO_SIZE_PTR and subsequent crashes on access. Instead we can simply stop checking the kmalloc_slab() result completely, as calling kmalloc_size_roundup() too early would then result in an immediate crash during boot and the developer noticing an issue in their code. 2023-09-20fs-writeback: do not requeue a clean inode having skipped pagesChunhai Guo
When writing back an inode and performing an fsync on it concurrently, a deadlock issue may arise as shown below. In each writeback iteration, a clean inode is requeued to the wb->b_dirty queue due to non-zero pages_skipped, without anything actually being written. This causes an infinite loop and prevents the plug from being flushed, resulting in a deadlock. We now avoid requeuing the clean inode to prevent this issue. wb_writeback fsync (inode-Y) blk_start_plug(&plug) for (;;) { iter i-1: some reqs with page-X added into plug->mq_list // f2fs node page-X with PG_writeback filemap_fdatawrite __filemap_fdatawrite_range // write inode-Y with sync_mode WB_SYNC_ALL do_writepages f2fs_write_data_pages __f2fs_write_data_pages // wb_sync_req[DATA]++ for WB_SYNC_ALL f2fs_write_cache_pages f2fs_write_single_data_page f2fs_do_write_data_page f2fs_outplace_write_data f2fs_update_data_blkaddr f2fs_wait_on_page_writeback wait_on_page_writeback // wait for f2fs node page-X iter i: progress = __writeback_inodes_wb(wb, work) . writeback_sb_inodes . __writeback_single_inode // write inode-Y with sync_mode WB_SYNC_NONE . . do_writepages . . f2fs_write_data_pages . . . __f2fs_write_data_pages // skip writepages due to (wb_sync_req[DATA]>0) . . . wbc->pages_skipped += get_dirty_pages(inode) // wbc->pages_skipped = 1 . if (!(inode->i_state & I_DIRTY_ALL)) // i_state = I_SYNC | I_SYNC_QUEUED . total_wrote++; // total_wrote = 1 . requeue_inode // requeue inode-Y to wb->b_dirty queue due to non-zero pages_skipped if (progress) // progress = 1 continue; iter i+1: queue_io // similar process with iter i, infinite for-loop ! } blk_finish_plug(&plug) // flush plug won't be called Signed-off-by: Chunhai Guo <guochunhai@vivo.com> Reviewed-by: Jan Kara <jack@suse.cz> Message-Id: <20230916045131.957929-1-guochunhai@vivo.com> Signed-off-by: Christian Brauner <brauner@kernel.org>

2023-09-20net/handshake: Fix memory leak in __sock_create() and sock_alloc_file()Jinjie Ruan
When making CONFIG_DEBUG_KMEMLEAK=y and CONFIG_DEBUG_KMEMLEAK_AUTO_SCAN=y, modprobe handshake-test and then rmmmod handshake-test, the below memory leak is detected. The struct socket_alloc which is allocated by alloc_inode_sb() in __sock_create() is not freed. And the struct dentry which is allocated by __d_alloc() in sock_alloc_file() is not freed. Since fput() will call file->f_op->release() which is sock_close() here and it will call __sock_release(). and fput() will call dput(dentry) to free the struct dentry. So replace sock_release() with fput() to fix the below memory leak. After applying this patch, the following memory leak is never detected. unreferenced object 0xffff888109165840 (size 768): comm "kunit_try_catch", pid 1852, jiffies 4294685807 (age 976.262s) hex dump (first 32 bytes): 01 00 00 00 01 00 5a 5a 20 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ......ZZ ....... 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ backtrace: [<ffffffff8397993f>] sock_alloc_inode+0x1f/0x1b0 [<ffffffff81a2cb5b>] alloc_inode+0x5b/0x1a0 [<ffffffff81a32bed>] new_inode_pseudo+0xd/0x70 [<ffffffff8397889c>] sock_alloc+0x3c/0x260 [<ffffffff83979b46>] __sock_create+0x66/0x3d0 [<ffffffffa0209ba2>] 0xffffffffa0209ba2 [<ffffffff829cf03a>] kunit_generic_run_threadfn_adapter+0x4a/0x90 [<ffffffff81236fc6>] kthread+0x2b6/0x380 [<ffffffff81096afd>] ret_from_fork+0x2d/0x70 [<ffffffff81003511>] ret_from_fork_asm+0x11/0x20 unreferenced object 0xffff88810f472008 (size 192): comm "kunit_try_catch", pid 1852, jiffies 4294685808 (age 976.261s) hex dump (first 32 bytes): 00 00 50 40 02 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ..P@............ 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 08 20 47 0f 81 88 ff ff ......... 2023-09-20bpf: unconditionally reset backtrack_state masks on global func exitAndrii Nakryiko
In mark_chain_precision() logic, when we reach the entry to a global func, it is expected that R1-R5 might be still requested to be marked precise. This would correspond to some integer input arguments being tracked as precise. This is all expected and handled as a special case. What's not expected is that we'll leave backtrack_state structure with some register bits set. This is because for subsequent precision propagations backtrack_state is reused without clearing masks, as all code paths are carefully written in a way to leave empty backtrack_state with zeroed out masks, for speed. The fix is trivial, we always clear register bit in the register mask, and then, optionally, set reg->precise if register is SCALAR_VALUE type.
