Factoring make install tests to check for multiple files. Adding default
set of installed files for install and install_bin tests.
Putting the 'test' line into the log file instead to the screen as it
gets more complex now.
If the tests fails to find a file, following message is displayed:
$ make -f tests/make make_install_bin

Freezable kthreads and workqueues are fundamentally problematic in
that they effectively introduce a big kernel lock widely used in the
kernel and have already been the culprit of several deadlock
scenarios. This is the latest occurrence.
During resume, libata rescans all the ports and revalidates all
pre-existing devices. If it determines that a device has gone
missing, the device is removed from the system which involves
invalidating block device and flushing bdi while holding driver core
layer locks. Unfortunately, this can race with the rest of device
resume. Because freezable kthreads and workqueues are thawed after
device resume is complete and block device removal depends on
freezable workqueues and kthreads (e.g. bdi_wq, jbd2) to make
progress, this can lead to deadlock - block device removal can't
proceed because kthreads are frozen and kthreads can't be thawed
because device resume is blocked behind block device removal.
839a8e8660b6 ("writeback: replace custom worker pool implementation
with unbound workqueue") made this particular deadlock scenario more
visible but the underlying problem has always been there - the
original forker task and jbd2 are freezable too. In fact, this is
highly likely just one of many possible deadlock scenarios given that
freezer behaves as a big kernel lock and we don't have any debug
mechanism around it.
I believe the right thing to do is getting rid of freezable kthreads
and workqueues. This is something fundamentally broken. For now,
implement a funny workaround in libata - just avoid doing block device
hot[un]plug while the system is frozen. Kernel engineering at its
finest. :(
v2: Add EXPORT_SYMBOL_GPL(pm_freezing) for cases where libata is built
as a module.

Introduce a small register cache for registers which needs special caching
to reduce pop noise:
TWL6040_REG_HSLCTL, TWL6040_REG_HSRCTL, TWL6040_REG_EARCTL, TWL6040_REG_HFLCTL
and TWL6040_REG_HFRCTL.
Switch over and use the new small cache for these registers instead of the
main reg_cache.
This is in preparation to remove the local ASoC reg_cache from the driver.

Although parts of the DMA apis may properly check for NULL devices,
there may be some places that don't. Rather than fix up all the
possible locations, just require a non-NULL device structure to be
used for allocating/freeing.

asm/cputype.h contains a bunch of #defines for CPU id registers
that essentially map to themselves. Remove the #defines and pass

AArch64 Single Steping and Breakpoint debug exceptions will be
used by multiple debug framworks like kprobes & kgdb.
This patch implements the hooks for those frameworks to register
their own handlers for handling breakpoint and single step events.
Reworked the debug exception handler in entry.S: do_dbg to route
software breakpoint (BRK64) exception to do_debug_exception()

get_wchan() is lockless. Task may wakeup at any time and change its own stack,
thus each next stack frame may be overwritten and filled with random stuff.

ARMv8 CPUs can perform efficient unaligned memory accesses in hardware
and this feature is relied up on by code such as the dcache
word-at-a-time name hashing.
This patch selects HAVE_EFFICIENT_UNALIGNED_ACCESS for arm64.

DCACHE_WORD_ACCESS uses the word-at-a-time API for optimised string
comparisons in the vfs layer.
This patch implements support for load_unaligned_zeropad in much the
same way as has been done for ARM, although big-endian systems are also
supported.

This patch implements the word-at-a-time interface for arm64 using the
same algorithm as ARM. We use the fls64 macro, which expands to a clz
instruction via a compiler builtin. Big-endian configurations make use
of the implementation from asm-generic.
With this implemented, we can replace our byte-at-a-time strnlen_user
and strncpy_from_user functions with the optimised generic versions.

This patch adds an accessor function for IRQ_PER_CPU flag.
The accessor function is useful to determine whether an IRQ is percpu or not.
This patch is based on an older patch posted by Chris Smith here [1].
There is a minor change w.r.t. Chris's original patch: The accessor function
is renamed as 'irq_is_percpu' instead of 'irq_is_per_cpu'.

We currently try to emit .comment twice, once in STABS_DEBUG, and once
in the line immediately following it. As the two section definitions are
identical, the latter is redundant and can be dropped.

The definition of virt_addr_valid is that virt_addr_valid should
return true if and only if virt_to_page returns a valid pointer.
The current definition of virt_addr_valid only checks against the
virtual address range. There's no guarantee that just because a
virtual address falls bewteen PAGE_OFFSET and high_memory the
associated physical memory has a valid backing struct page. Follow
the example of other architectures and convert to pfn_valid to
verify that the virtual address is actually valid.

Commit 8f34a1da35ae ("arm64: ptrace: use HW_BREAKPOINT_EMPTY type for
disabled breakpoints") fixed an issue with GDB trying to zero breakpoint
control registers. The problem there is that the arch hw_breakpoint code
will attempt to create a (disabled), execute breakpoint of length 0.
This will fail validation and report unexpected failure to GDB. To avoid
this, we treated disabled breakpoints as HW_BREAKPOINT_EMPTY, but that
seems to have broken with recent kernels, causing watchpoints to be
treated as TYPE_INST in the core code and returning ENOSPC for any
further breakpoints.
This patch fixes the problem by prioritising the `enable' field of the
breakpoint: if it is cleared, we simply update the perf_event_attr to
indicate that the thing is disabled and don't bother changing either the
type or the length. This reinforces the behaviour that the breakpoint
control register is essentially read-only apart from the enable bit
when disabling a breakpoint.

1. Since all callers either test if it is less than zero or assign its
result to an int variable, convert it from ssize_t to int;
2. There is just one use for the 'session' variable, so use rec->session
directly instead;
3. No need to store the result of perf_data_file__write, since that
result is either 'size' or -1, the later making the error result to
be stored in 'errno' and accessed thru printf's %m in the pr_err
call.

Add reg_defaults to regmap and at the same time implement proper power
state handling with using regcache_cache_only(), regcache_sync() and
regcache_mark_dirty().
This will make sure that we do not need to do restore operations in child
drivers anymore.

Currently, resume and reset is completed when the USB core calls back
the root hub, asking for the port's state. This results in
unpredictable timing of state assertion, which in turn renders some
USB devices unusable after resume.
Fix this by moving the logic to end the reset and suspend state out of
musb_hub_control() into separate functions called from delayed workers.
GetPortStatus only reports the current state now, without taking any
real action.
The rh_timeout variable is kept in order to define a minimum time gap
between reset and resume only.
FWIW, in my case, a Verbatim "STORE N GO" mass storage device won't
resume cleanly without this patch.

The MaxPower field is of u16 type. So using u8 type variable can break
data (high byte lost).
