2025-03-03firmware: smccc: Support optional Arm SMCCC SOC_ID namePaul Benoit
Issue Number 1.6 of the Arm SMC Calling Convention introduces an optional SOC_ID name string. If implemented, point the 'machine' field of the SoC Device Attributes at this string so that it will appear under /sys/bus/soc/devices/soc0/machine. On Arm SMC compliant SoCs, this will allow things like 'lscpu' to eventually get a SoC provider model name from there rather than each tool/utility needing to get a possibly inconsistent, obsolete, or incorrect model/machine name from its own hardcoded model/machine name table. Certain messages from DCP contain NUL bytes in the random data after the NUL terminated syslog message. Since the syslog message ends with '\n' this results in a dev_info() message terminated with two newlines and an empty printed line in the kernel log. rtkit messages as communication with the DCP firmware for framebuffer swaps or input events are time critical so use WQ_HIGHPRI to prevent user space CPU load to increase latency. With kwin_wayland 6's explicit sync mode user space load was able to delay the IOMFB rtkit communication enough to miss vsync for surface swaps. Minimal test scenario is constantly resizing a glxgears Xwayland window. 2025-02-26soc: ti: k3-socinfo: Do not use syscon helper to build regmapAndrew Davis
The syscon helper device_node_to_regmap() is used to fetch a regmap registered to a device node. It also currently creates this regmap if the node did not already have a regmap associated with it. This should only be used on "syscon" nodes. This driver is not such a device and instead uses device_node_to_regmap() on its own node as a hacky way to create a regmap for itself. This will not work going forward and so we should create our regmap the normal way by defining our regmap_config, fetching our memory resource, then using the normal regmap_init_mmio() function. The FF-A notification id list received in response to the call FFA_NOTIFICATION_INFO_GET is encoded as: partition ID followed by 0 or more vCPU ID. The count includes all of them. Fix the issue by skipping the first/partition ID so that only the list of vCPU IDs are processed correctly for a given partition ID. The first/ partition ID is read before the start of the loop. This code calls kfree(bfr); and then passes "bfr" to rtk->ops->crashed() which is a use after free. The ->crashed function pointer is implemented by apple_nvme_rtkit_crashed() and it doesn't use the "bfr" pointer so this doesn't cause a problem. But it still looks sketchy as can be. Fix this by moving kfree() after the last usage of bfr. So far, the MediaTek socinfo driver populates the SoC information as follows: - family: "MediaTek" - machine: "<marketing_name> (<soc_name>)" e.g., "Kompanio 1380 (MT8195)" - soc_id: <null> This approach has some drawbacks: 1. "soc_id" can be used for showing the SoC name (e.g. "MT8195"), while it's currently unused. 2. The newer socinfo API automatically populates the "machine" attribute with the model name from board DTS if unspecified, which we may want to preserve if possible. 3. "machine" combines the marketing name and SoC name, making it trickier to parse. Ideally, the marketing name and SoC name should be in separate attributes so userspace to utilize them as needed. 4. There's no guarantee that the marketing name will be announced along with the SoC name. If either is undetermined, the current design will result in a malformed "machine" output. This is observed on some newer MediaTek platforms, where the marketing name is still undetermined but the SoC information needs to be settled for device registration and validation before launch. To address these points, this commit proposes a new theme to display the SoC information: - family: "MediaTek <marketing_name>" e.g., "MediaTek Kompanio 1380" - machine: "<dt_model_name>" (auto-populated) e.g., "Acer Tomato (rev1) board" - soc_id: "<soc_name>" e.g., "MT8195" Moreover, if the marketing name is not provided, the driver displays "MediaTek" in the "family" attribute instead, consistent with the previous behavior. Restructure the way driver populates the SoC information as described above. Note that Mediatek-based Chromebooks are the primary consumers of this socinfo driver, and Google has prepared corresponding userspace changes to comply with this update, so the impact to userspace is controlled. A partition can implement multiple UUIDs and currently we successfully register each UUID service as a FF-A device. However when adding the same partition info to the XArray which tracks the SRI callbacks more than once, it fails. In order to allow multiple UUIDs per partition to register SRI callbacks the partition information stored in the XArray needs to be extended to a listed list. A function to remove the list of partition information in the XArray is not added as there are no users at the time. All the partitions are added at probe/initialisation and removed at cleanup stage. Currently FF-A specification defines only one framework notification: RX buffer full notification. This notification is signaled by the partition manager during transmission of a partition message through indirect messaging to, 1. Notify an endpoint that it has a pending message in its Rx buffer. 2. Inform the message receiver’s scheduler via the schedule receiver interrupt that the receiver must be run. In response to an FFA_MSG_SEND2 invocation by a sender endpoint, the framework performs the following actions after the message is copied from the Tx buffer of the sender to the Rx buffer of the receiver: 1. The notification is pended in the framework notification bitmap of the receiver. 2. The partition manager of the endpoint that contains receiver’s scheduler pends the schedule receiver interrupt for this endpoint. The receiver receives the notification and copies out the message from its Rx buffer. Currently, the framework notifications are not supported at all. handle_notif_callbacks() doesn't handle them though it is called with framework bitmap. Make that explicit by adding checks for the same. Also, we need to further classify the framework notifications as Secure Partition Manager(SPM) and NonSecure Hypervisor(NS_HYP). Extend/change notify_type enumeration to accommodate all the 4 type and rejig the values so that it can be reused in the bitmap enable mask macros. While at this, move ffa_notify_type_get() so that it can be used in notifier_hash_node_get() in the future. No functional change. 2025-02-17firmware: arm_ffa: Reject higher major version as incompatibleSudeep Holla
When the firmware compatibility was handled previously in the commit 8e3f9da608f1 ("firmware: arm_ffa: Handle compatibility with different firmware versions"), we only addressed firmware versions that have higher minor versions compared to the driver version which is should be considered compatible unless the firmware returns NOT_SUPPORTED. However, if the firmware reports higher major version than the driver supported, we need to reject it. If the firmware can work in a compatible mode with the driver requested version, it must return the same major version as requested. 2025-02-17firmware: arm_ffa: Unregister the FF-A devices when cleaning up the partitionsSudeep Holla
Both the FF-A core and the bus were in a single module before the commit 18c250bd7ed0 ("firmware: arm_ffa: Split bus and driver into distinct modules"). The arm_ffa_bus_exit() takes care of unregistering all the FF-A devices. Now that there are 2 distinct modules, if the core driver is unloaded and reloaded, it will end up adding duplicate FF-A devices as the previously registered devices weren't unregistered when we cleaned up the modules. Fix the same by unregistering all the FF-A devices on the FF-A bus during the cleaning up of the partitions and hence the cleanup of the module. 2025-02-17firmware: arm_ffa: Handle the presence of host partition in the partition infoSudeep Holla
Currently it is assumed that the firmware doesn't present the host partition in the list of partitions presented as part of the response to PARTITION_INFO_GET from the firmware. However, there are few platforms that prefer to present the same in the list of partitions. It is not manadatory but not restricted as well. So handle the same by making sure to check the presence of the host VM ID in the XArray partition information maintained/managed in the driver before attempting to add it. In order to support full stack, we need to take small steps in getting the support for big-endian kernel added slowly. This change fixes the support in __ffa_partition_info_regs_get() so that the response from the firmware are converted correctly as required. With this change, we can enumerate all the FF-A devices correctly in the big-endian kernel if the FFA_PARTITION_INFO_REGS_GET is supported. Fpga get config status just returns status through ret_payload and there is no need to allocate local buf and send its address through SMC args. Moreover, the address that is being passed till now is linux virtual address and is incorrect. Corresponding modification has been done in the firmware to avoid using the address sent by linux.
