Pull gpio fixes from Bartosz Golaszewski:
"There are two fixes for GPIO core: one adds missing retval checks to
older code, while the second adds SRCU synchronization to legs in code
that were missed during the big rework a few cycles back. There's also
one small driver fix:
- check the return value of the get_direction() callback in struct
gpio_chip
- protect the multi-line get/set legs in GPIO core with SRCU
- fix a race condition in gpio-vf610"

The within_inclusive() function, in some cases, when CONFIG_X86_64=n,
may be not used.
This, in particular, prevents kernel builds with Clang, `make W=1`
and CONFIG_WERROR=y:

Fix this by guarding the definitions with the respective ifdeffery.

Every pv_ops.mmu.tlb_remove_table call ends up calling tlb_remove_table.
Get rid of the indirection by simply calling tlb_remove_table directly,
and not going through the paravirt function pointers.

Currently x86 uses CONFIG_MMU_GATHER_TABLE_FREE when using
paravirt, and not when running on bare metal.
There is no real good reason to do things differently for
each setup. Make them all the same.
Currently get_user_pages_fast synchronizes against page table
freeing in two different ways:
- on bare metal, by blocking IRQs, which block TLB flush IPIs
- on paravirt, with MMU_GATHER_RCU_TABLE_FREE
This is done because some paravirt TLB flush implementations
handle the TLB flush in the hypervisor, and will do the flush
even when the target CPU has interrupts disabled.
Always handle page table freeing with MMU_GATHER_RCU_TABLE_FREE.
Using RCU synchronization between page table freeing and get_user_pages_fast()
allows bare metal to also do TLB flushing while interrupts are disabled.
Various places in the mm do still block IRQs or disable preemption
as an implicit way to block RCU frees.
That makes it safe to use INVLPGB on AMD CPUs.

E820_TYPE_RESERVED_KERN is a relict from the ancient history that was used
to early reserve setup_data, see:
28bb22379513 ("x86: move reserve_setup_data to setup.c")
Nowadays setup_data is anyway reserved in memblock and there is no point in
carrying E820_TYPE_RESERVED_KERN that behaves exactly like E820_TYPE_RAM
but only complicates the code.
A bonus for removing E820_TYPE_RESERVED_KERN is a small but measurable
speedup of 20 microseconds in init_mem_mappings() on a VM with 32GB or RAM.

Changing memblock parameters, namely bottom_up and allocation upper
limit does not have any effect before memblock initialization in
e820__memblock_setup().
Move the calls to memblock_set_bottom_up() and memblock_set_current_limit()
to e820__memblock_setup() to group all the memblock initial setup and make
setup_arch() more readable.
No functional changes.

According to:
https://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/gcc/Size-of-an-asm.html
the usage of asm pseudo directives in the asm template can confuse
the compiler to wrongly estimate the size of the generated
code.
The ALTERNATIVE macro expands to several asm pseudo directives,
so its usage in {,try_}cmpxchg{64,128} causes instruction length estimate
to fail by an order of magnitude (the specially instrumented compiler
reports the estimated length of these asm templates to be more than 20
instructions long).
This incorrect estimate further causes unoptimal inlining
decisions, unoptimal instruction scheduling and unoptimal code block
alignments for functions that use these locking primitives.

which is a feature that makes GCC pretend some inline assembler code
is tiny (while it would think it is huge), instead of just asm.
For code size estimation, the size of the asm is then taken as
the minimum size of one instruction, ignoring how many instructions
compiler thinks it is.
The effect of this patch on x86_64 target is minor, since 128-bit
functions are rarely used on this target. The code size of the resulting
defconfig object file stays the same:

but the patch has minor effect on code layout due to the different
scheduling decisions in functions containing changed macros.

percpu_{,try_}cmpxchg{64,128}() macros use CALL instruction inside
asm statement in one of their alternatives. Use ALT_OUTPUT_SP()
macro to add required dependence on %esp register.
ALT_OUTPUT_SP() implements the above dependence by adding
ASM_CALL_CONSTRAINT to its arguments. This constraint should be used
for any inline asm which has a CALL instruction, otherwise the
compiler may schedule the asm before the frame pointer gets set up
by the containing function, causing objtool to print a "call without
frame pointer save/setup" warning.

The issue can be reproduced regardless of whether set_event is empty or
not. Here is an example about the valid content of set_event.

The root cause is that s_next() returns NULL when nothing is found.
This results in s_stop() attempting to free a NULL pointer because its
parameter is NULL.
Fix the issue by freeing the memory appropriately when s_next() fails
to find anything.

The function tracer should record the preemption level at the point when
the function is invoked. If the tracing subsystem decrement the
preemption counter it needs to correct this before feeding the data into
the trace buffer. This was broken in the commit cited below while
shifting the preempt-disabled section.
Use tracing_gen_ctx_dec() which properly subtracts one from the
preemption counter on a preemptible kernel.

A few bugs were found in the fprobe accounting logic along with it using
the function graph infrastructure. Update the fprobe selftest to catch
those bugs in case they or something similar shows up in the future.
The test now checks the enabled_functions file which shows all the
functions attached to ftrace or fgraph. When enabling a fprobe, make sure
that its corresponding function is also added to that file. Also add two
more fprobes to enable to make sure that the fprobe logic works properly
with multiple probes.

When adding a new fprobe, it will update the function hash to the
functions the fprobe is attached to and register with function graph to
have it call the registered functions. The fprobe_graph_active variable
keeps track of the number of fprobes that are using function graph.
If two fprobes attach to the same function, it increments the
fprobe_graph_active for each of them. But when they are removed, the first
fprobe to be removed will see that the function it is attached to is also
used by another fprobe and it will not remove that function from
function_graph. The logic will skip decrementing the fprobe_graph_active
variable.
This causes the fprobe_graph_active variable to not go to zero when all
fprobes are removed, and in doing so it does not unregister from
function graph. As the fgraph ops hash will now be empty, and an empty
filter hash means all functions are enabled, this triggers function graph
to add a callback to the fprobe infrastructure for every function!

When the last fprobe is removed, it calls unregister_ftrace_graph() to
remove the graph_ops from function graph. The issue is when it does so, it
calls return before removing the function from its graph ops via
ftrace_set_filter_ips(). This leaves the last function lingering in the
fprobe's fgraph ops and if a probe is added it also enables that last
function (even though the callback will just drop it, it does add unneeded
overhead to make that call).

The above enabled a fprobe on kernel_clone, and then on schedule_timeout.
The content of the enabled_functions shows the functions that have a
callback attached to them. The fprobe attached to those functions
properly. Then the fprobes were cleared, and enabled_functions was empty
after that. But after adding a fprobe on kmem_cache_free, the
enabled_functions shows that the schedule_timeout was attached again. This
is because it was still left in the fprobe ops that is used to tell
function graph what functions it wants callbacks from.

Check if a function is already in the manager ops of a subops. A manager
ops contains multiple subops, and if two or more subops are tracing the
same function, the manager ops only needs a single entry in its hash.

Function graph uses a subops and manager ops mechanism to attach to
ftrace. The manager ops connects to ftrace and the functions it connects
to is defined by a list of subops that it manages.
The function hash that defines what the above ops attaches to limits the
functions to attach if the hash has any content. If the hash is empty, it
means to trace all functions.
The creation of the manager ops hash is done by iterating over all the
subops hashes. If any of the subops hashes is empty, it means that the
manager ops hash must trace all functions as well.
The issue is in the creation of the manager ops. When a second subops is
attached, a new hash is created by starting it as NULL and adding the
subops one at a time. But the NULL ops is mistaken as an empty hash, and
once an empty hash is found, it stops the loop of subops and just enables
all functions.

Fix this by initializing the new hash to NULL and if the hash is NULL do
not treat it as an empty hash but instead allocate by copying the content
of the first sub ops. Then on subsequent iterations, the new hash will not
be NULL, but the content of the previous subops. If that first subops
attached to all functions, then new hash may assume that the manager ops
also needs to attach to all functions.

TSC could be reset in deep ACPI sleep states, even with invariant TSC.
That's the reason we have sched_clock() save/restore functions, to deal
with this situation. But what happens is that such functions are guarded
with a check for the stability of sched_clock - if not considered stable,
the save/restore routines aren't executed.
On top of that, we have a clear comment in native_sched_clock() saying
that *even* with TSC unstable, we continue using TSC for sched_clock due
to its speed.
In other words, if we have a situation of TSC getting detected as unstable,
it marks the sched_clock as unstable as well, so subsequent S3 sleep cycles
could bring bogus sched_clock values due to the lack of the save/restore
mechanism, causing warnings like this:

Notice that the above was reproduced even with "trace_clock=global".
The fix for that is to _always_ save/restore the sched_clock on suspend
cycle _if TSC is used_ as sched_clock - only if we fallback to jiffies
the sched_clock_stable() check becomes relevant to save/restore the
sched_clock.

Currently memremap(MEMREMAP_WB) can produce decrypted/shared mapping:
memremap(MEMREMAP_WB)
arch_memremap_wb()
ioremap_cache()
__ioremap_caller(.encrytped = false)
In such cases, the IORES_MAP_ENCRYPTED flag on the memory will determine
if the resulting mapping is encrypted or decrypted.
Creating a decrypted mapping without explicit request from the caller is
risky:
- It can inadvertently expose the guest's data and compromise the
guest.
- Accessing private memory via shared/decrypted mapping on TDX will
either trigger implicit conversion to shared or #VE (depending on
VMM implementation).
Implicit conversion is destructive: subsequent access to the same
memory via private mapping will trigger a hard-to-debug #VE crash.
The kernel already provides a way to request decrypted mapping
explicitly via the MEMREMAP_DEC flag.
Modify memremap(MEMREMAP_WB) to produce encrypted/private mapping by
default unless MEMREMAP_DEC is specified or if the kernel runs on
a machine with SME enabled.
It fixes the crash due to #VE on kexec in TDX guests if CONFIG_EISA is
enabled.

x86 version of arch_memremap_wb() needs the flags to decide if the mapping
has to be encrypted or decrypted.
Pass down the flag to arch_memremap_wb(). All current implementations
ignore the argument.

Move ctl tables to two files:
- perf_event_{paranoid,mlock_kb,max_sample_rate} and
perf_cpu_time_max_percent into kernel/events/core.c
- perf_event_max_{stack,context_per_stack} into
kernel/events/callchain.c
Make static variables and functions that are fully contained in core.c
and callchain.cand remove them from include/linux/perf_event.h.
Additionally six_hundred_forty_kb is moved to callchain.c.
Two new sysctl tables are added ({callchain,events_core}_sysctl_table)
with their respective sysctl registration functions.
This is part of a greater effort to move ctl tables into their
respective subsystems which will reduce the merge conflicts in
kerenel/sysctl.c.

Ongoing work on an optimization to batch-preallocate vCPU state buffers
for KVM revealed a mismatch between the allocation sizes used in
fpu_alloc_guest_fpstate() and fpstate_realloc(). While the former
allocates a buffer sized to fit the default set of XSAVE features
in UABI form (as per fpu_user_cfg), the latter uses its ksize argument
derived (for the requested set of features) in the same way as the sizes
found in fpu_kernel_cfg, i.e. using the compacted in-kernel
representation.
The correct size to use for guest FPU state should indeed be the
kernel one as seen in fpstate_realloc(). The original issue likely
went unnoticed through a combination of UABI size typically being
larger than or equal to kernel size, and/or both amounting to the
same number of allocated 4K pages.

With CONFIG_DEBUG_RSEQ=y, at rseq registration the read-only fields are
copied from user-space, if this copy fails the syscall returns -EFAULT
and the registration should not be activated - but it erroneously is.
Move the activation of the registration after the copy of the fields to
fix this bug.

Remove the unnecessary kick to the vCPU after writing to the vs_file
of IMSIC in kvm_riscv_vcpu_aia_imsic_inject.
For vCPUs that are running, writing to the vs_file directly forwards
the interrupt as an MSI to them and does not need an extra kick.
For vCPUs that are descheduled after emulating WFI, KVM will enable
the guest external interrupt for that vCPU in
kvm_riscv_aia_wakeon_hgei. This means that writing to the vs_file
will cause a guest external interrupt, which will cause KVM to wake
up the vCPU in hgei_interrupt to handle the interrupt properly.

GCC versions below 13 incorrectly detect the copy size as being static and too
small to fit in the "fds" array. Work around this by explicitly calculating the
size and returning EINVAL based on that, instead of based on the object count.

Since 2002 (change "Replace BKL for chain locking with sysvfs-private
rwlock") the sysv filesystem was doing IO under a rwlock in its
get_block() function (yes, a non-sleepable lock hold over a function
used to read inode metadata for all reads and writes). Nobody noticed
until syzbot in 2023 [1]. This shows nobody is using the filesystem.
Just drop it.

Adding an unlikely() hint on task comparisons on an unlikely error
return path improves run-time performance of the kcmp system call.
Benchmarking on an i9-12900 shows an improvement of ~5.5% on kcmp().
Results based on running 20 tests with turbo disabled (to reduce
clock freq turbo changes), with 10 second run per test and comparing
the number of kcmp calls per second. The % Standard deviation of 20
tests was ~0.25%, results are reliable.

Before 2011 there was no meaningful synchronization between
read/readdir/write/seek. Only in commit
ef3d0fd27e90 ("vfs: do (nearly) lockless generic_file_llseek")
synchronization was added for SEEK_CUR by taking f_lock around
vfs_setpos().
Then in 2014 full synchronization between read/readdir/write/seek was
added in commit 9c225f2655e3 ("vfs: atomic f_pos accesses as per POSIX")
by introducing f_pos_lock for regular files with FMODE_ATOMIC_POS and
for directories. At that point taking f_lock became unnecessary for such
files.
So only acquire f_lock for SEEK_CUR if this isn't a file that would have
acquired f_pos_lock if necessary.

Dumping processes with large allocated and mostly not-faulted areas is
very slow.
Borrowing a test case from Tavian Barnes:

Almost 29% of the time is spent relocking the mmap semaphore between
calls to get_dump_page() which find nothing.
Whacking that results in times of 10 seconds (down from 13-14).
While here make the thing killable.
The real problem is the page-sized iteration and the real fix would
patch it up instead. It is left as an exercise for the mm-familiar
reader.
