2020-07-28fanotify: compare fsid when merging name eventJan Kara
When merging name events, fsids of the two involved events have to match. Otherwise we could merge events from two different filesystems and thus effectively loose the second event. Backporting note: Although the commit cacfb956d46e introducing this bug was merged for 5.7, the relevant code didn't get used in the end until 7e8283af6ede ("fanotify: report parent fid + name + child fid") which will be merged with this patch. So there's no need for backporting this. 2020-07-28lockdep: Move list.h inclusion into lockdep.hHerbert Xu
Currently lockdep_types.h includes list.h without actually using any of its macros or functions. All it needs are the type definitions which were moved into types.h long ago. This potentially causes inclusion loops because both are included by many core header files. This patch moves the list.h inclusion into lockdep.h. Note that we could probably remove it completely but that could potentially result in compile failures should any end users not include list.h directly and also be unlucky enough to not get list.h via some other header file. 2020-07-28ALSA: hda/hdmi: Fix keep_power assignment for non-component devicesTakashi Iwai
It's been reported that, when neither nouveau nor Nvidia graphics driver is used, the screen starts flickering. And, after comparing between the working case (stable 4.4.x) and the broken case, it turned out that the problem comes from the audio component binding. The Nvidia and AMD audio binding code clears the bus->keep_power flag whenever snd_hdac_acomp_init() succeeds. But this doesn't mean that the component is actually bound, but it merely indicates that it's ready for binding. So, when both nouveau and Nvidia are blacklisted or not ready, the driver keeps running without the audio component but also with bus->keep_power = false. This made the driver runtime PM kicked in and powering down when unused, which results in flickering in the graphics side, as it seems. For fixing the bug, this patch moves the bus->keep_power flag change into generic_acomp_notifier_set() that is the function called from the master_bind callback of component ops; i.e. it's guaranteed that the binding succeeded. 2020-07-28MIPS: Remove legacy MIPS_MACHINE optionPaul Cercueil
The CONFIG_MIPS_MACHINE option is dead code that hasn't been used in years. The Kconfig option is not selected anywhere, and the <asm/mips_machine.h> is not included anywhere either. To make things worse, for years it co-existed with a separate MIPS machine implementation as <asm/machine.h>. The two defined the 'mips_machine' structure with different fields, and the 'MIPS_MACHINE' macro with different parameters. The two used the same memory area (defined by the linker script) to store data, and you could totally use the two at the same time for all kinds of funny results. The variable authmode can be uninitialized. The danger would be if it equals to _WPA_IE_ID_ (0xdd) or _WPA2_IE_ID_ (0x33). We can avoid this by setting it to zero instead. This is the approach that was used in the rtl8723bs driver. 2020-07-28staging/speakup: Update TODO listSamuel Thibault
Thanks to Okash's latest work, the TODO list is essentially empty, so the way out from staging now seems open. The status of the remaining issue mentioned in TODO is not clear, we asked the speakup user mailing list for reproducer cases, but didn't get a really specific scenario. One serious bug was fixed by 9d32c0cde4e2 ("staging/speakup: fix get_word non-space look-ahead"), which does not seem to really be related to the bug mentioned in TODO. Possibly the bug mentioned in TODO has been fixed long ago and people have been thinking that it was not because they can not distinguish the symptoms mentioned in TODO from the symptoms of the bug fixed by 9d32c0cde4e2. 2020-07-28KVM: arm64: Don't inherit exec permission across page-table levelsWill Deacon
If a stage-2 page-table contains an executable, read-only mapping at the pte level (e.g. due to dirty logging being enabled), a subsequent write fault to the same page which tries to install a larger block mapping (e.g. due to dirty logging having been disabled) will erroneously inherit the exec permission and consequently skip I-cache invalidation for the rest of the block. Ensure that exec permission is only inherited by write faults when the new mapping is of the same size as the existing one. A subsequent instruction abort will result in I-cache invalidation for the entire block mapping. 2020-07-28KVM: arm64: Prevent vcpu_has_ptrauth from generating OOL functionsMarc Zyngier
So far, vcpu_has_ptrauth() is implemented in terms of system_supports_*_auth() calls, which are declared "inline". In some specific conditions (clang and SCS), the "inline" very much turns into an "out of line", which leads to a fireworks when this predicate is evaluated on a non-VHE system (right at the beginning of __hyp_handle_ptrauth). Instead, make sure vcpu_has_ptrauth gets expanded inline by directly using the cpus_have_final_cap() helpers, which are __always_inline, generate much better code, and are the only thing that make sense when running at EL2 on a nVHE system. 2020-07-28Bluetooth: btusb: Fix and detect most of the Chinese Bluetooth controllersIsmael Ferreras Morezuelas
For some reason they tend to squat on the very first CSR/ Cambridge Silicon Radio VID/PID instead of paying fees. This is an extremely common problem; the issue goes as back as 2013 and these devices are only getting more popular, even rebranded by reputable vendors and sold by retailers everywhere. So, at this point in time there are hundreds of modern dongles reusing the ID of what originally was an early Bluetooth 1.1 controller. Linux is the only place where they don't work due to spotty checks in our detection code. It only covered a minimum subset. So what's the big idea? Take advantage of the fact that all CSR chips report the same internal version as both the LMP sub-version and HCI revision number. It always matches, couple that with the manufacturer code, that rarely lies, and we now have a good idea of who is who. Additionally, by compiling a list of user-reported HCI/lsusb dumps, and searching around for legit CSR dongles in similar product ranges we can find what CSR BlueCore firmware supported which Bluetooth versions. That way we can narrow down ranges of fakes for each of them. e.g. Real CSR dongles with LMP subversion 0x73 are old enough that support BT 1.1 only; so it's a dead giveaway when some third-party BT 4.0 dongle reuses it. So, to sum things up; there are multiple classes of fake controllers reusing the same 0A12:0001 VID/PID. This has been broken for a while. Currently it supports: * Screen console via EFIFB * Booting via EFI_STUB * SDHCI * I2C * PSCI core bringup Please note that there is an implementation of EL2 startup on this board, but it requires the user to resign from PSCI and use spin-table instead.
