2011-11-10ALSA: hda - Don't add elements of other codecs to vmaster slaveTakashi Iwai
When a virtual mater control is created, the driver looks for slave elements from the assigned card instance. But this may include the elements of other codecs when multiple codecs are on the same HD-audio bus. This works at the first time, but it'll give Oops when it's once freed and re-created via reconfig sysfs. This patch changes the element-look-up strategy to limit only to the mixer elements of the same codec. 2011-11-10block: Revert "[SCSI] genhd: add a new attribute "alias" in gendisk"Tejun Heo
This reverts commit a72c5e5eb738033938ab30d6a634b74d1d060f10. The commit introduced alias for block devices which is intended to be used during logging although actual usage hasn't been committed yet. This approach adds very limited benefit (raw log might be easier to follow) which can be trivially implemented in userland but has a lot of problems. It is much worse than netif renames because it doesn't rename the actual device but just adds conveninence name which isn't used universally or enforced. Everything internal including device lookup and sysfs still uses the internal name and nothing prevents two devices from using conflicting alias - ie. sda can have sdb as its alias. This has been nacked by people working on device driver core, block layer and kernel-userland interface and shouldn't have been upstreamed. 2011-11-09Input: synaptics - add support for Relative modeDaniel Drake
Currently, the synaptics driver puts the device into Absolute mode. As explained in the synaptics documentation section 3.2, in this mode, the device sends a continuous stream of packets at the maximum rate to the host when the user's fingers are near or on the pad or pressing buttons, and continues streaming for 1 second afterwards. These packets are even sent when there is no new information to report, even when they are duplicates of the previous packet. For embedded systems this is a bit much - it results in a huge and uninterrupted stream of interrupts at high rate. This patch adds support for Relative mode, which can be selected as a new psmouse protocol. In this mode, the device does not send duplicate packets and acts like a standard PS/2 mouse. However, synaptics-specific functionality is still available, such as the ability to set the packet rate, and rather than disabling gestures and taps at the hardware level unconditionally, a 'synaptics_disable_gesture' sysfs attribute has been added to allow control of this functionality. This solves a long standing OLPC issue: synaptics hardware enables tap to click by default (even in the default relative mode), but we have found this to be inappropriate for young children and first time computer users. Enabling the synaptics driver disables tap-to-click, but we have previously been unable to use this because it also enables Absolute mode, which is too "spammy" for our desires and actually overloads our EC with its continuous stream of packets. Refrain from running clk_disable() on clocks that have not been enabled. A typical case when this can happen is during Suspend-to-RAM for devices that have no driver associated with them. In such case the clock may be in default ACQUIRED state. Without this patch the sh7372 Mackerel board crashes in __clk_disable() during Suspend-to-RAM with: "Trying to disable clock 0xdeadbeef with 0 usecount" This happens for the CEU device which is added during boot. The AH4/6 ahash output callbacks pass nexthdr to xfrm_output_resume instead of the error code. This appears to be a copy+paste error from the input case, where nexthdr is expected. This causes the driver to continuously add AH headers to the datagram until either an allocation fails and the packet is dropped or the ahash driver hits a synchronous fallback and the resulting monstrosity is transmitted. Fix bugs introduced by 6c41761f. Firstly, after failing to allocate any of the tree roots (first 'goto fail' in open_ctree()) we would dereference a NULL fs_info pointer in free_fs_info(). Secondly, after failures from init_srcu_struct(), setup_bdi() and new_inode() we would leak all earlier allocated roots: fs_info fields haven't been initialized yet so free_fs_info() is rendered useless.
