2014-07-16s390: fix restore of invalid floating-point-controlMartin Schwidefsky
The fixup of the inline assembly to restore the floating-point-control register needs to check for instruction address *after* the lfcp instruction as the specification and data exceptions are suppresssing. Signed-off-by: Martin Schwidefsky <schwidefsky@de.ibm.com>

2014-07-16s390/ptrace: fix PSW mask checkMartin Schwidefsky
The PSW mask check of the PTRACE_POKEUSR_AREA command is incorrect. The PSW_MASK_USER define contains the PSW_MASK_ASC bits, the ptrace interface accepts all combinations for the address-space-control bits. To protect the kernel space the PSW mask check in ptrace needs to reject the address-space-control bit combination for home space. 2014-07-16s390/MSI: Use standard mask and unmask funtionsYijing Wang
MSI irqchip in s390 has its own mask and unmask MSI irq functions, zpci_enable_irq() and zpci_disable_irq(). They mask and unmask MSI irq in standard ways, no arch special. MSI driver provides two global standard functions mask_msi_irq() and unmask_msi_irq(). Local zpci_enable_irq() and zpci_disable_irq() are almost the same as the standard two. the difference is local mask/unmask functions read the mask status before mask and unmask everytime. Then change the value and rewrite to hardware. In standard functions, save the mask status after mask and unmask msi irq, and use the cached status to change the mask status. When we mask or unmask a MSI irq, we always cache its mask status except we know need not to cache it, like in pci_msi_shutdown. So use the standard functions to replace the local is safe. 2014-07-16s390/3270: correct size detection with the read-partition commandMartin Schwidefsky
The size detection for 3270 terminals with the read-partition command is broken. The raw3270_reset_device_cb function clears the init_data array, but if raw3270_writesf_readpart has been called the read-partition command is queued which needs the init_data array. In this case the size detection will fail and the invalid command does funny things to the terminal. Signed-off-by: Martin Schwidefsky <schwidefsky@de.ibm.com>

2014-07-15clk: qcom: Add support for APQ8064 multimedia clocksStephen Boyd
The APQ8064 multimedia clock controller is fairly similar to the 8960 multimedia clock controller, except that gfx2d0/1 has been removed and the gfx3d frequency is slightly faster when using the newly introduced PLL15. 2014-07-15clk: qcom: Fix PLL rate configurationsStephen Boyd
Sometimes we need to program PLLs with a fixed rate configuration during driver probe. Doing this after we register the PLLs with the clock framework causes the common clock framework to assume the rate of the PLLs are 0. This causes all sorts of problems for rate recalculations because the common clock framework caches the rate once at registration time unless a flag is set to always recalculate the rates. Split the qcom_cc_probe() function into two pieces, map and everything else, so that drivers which need to configure some PLL rates or otherwise twiddle bits in the clock controller can do so before registering clocks. This allows us to properly detect the rates of PLLs that are programmed at boot. Fixes: 49fc825f0cc2 "clk: qcom: Consolidate common probe code" Signed-off-by: Stephen Boyd <sboyd@codeaurora.org>
2014-07-15clk: qcom: Fix MN frequency tables, parent map, and jpegdStephen Boyd
Clocks that don't have a pre-divider don't list any pre-divider in their frequency tables, but their tables are initialized using aggregate initializers. Use tagged initializers so we properly assign the m and n values for each frequency. Furthermore, the mmcc_pxo_pll8_pll2_pll3 array improperly mapped the second element to pll2 instead of pll8, causing the clock driver to recalculate the wrong rate for any clocks using this array along with a rate that uses pll2. Plus the .num_parents field is 3 instead of 4 so you can't even switch the parent to pll3. Finally I noticed that the jpegd clock improperly indicates that the pre-divider width is only 2, when it's actually 4 bits wide. 2014-07-15clk: qcom: Support bypass RCG configurationStephen Boyd
In the case of HDMI clocks, we want to bypass the RCG's ability to divide the output clock and pass through the parent HDMI PLL rate. Add a simple set of clk_ops to configure the RCG to do this. This removes the need to keep adding more frequency entries to the tv_src clock whenever we want to support a new rate. 2014-07-15ring-buffer: Fix polling on trace_pipeMartin Lau
ring_buffer_poll_wait() should always put the poll_table to its wait_queue even there is immediate data available. Otherwise, the following epoll and read sequence will eventually hang forever: 1. Put some data to make the trace_pipe ring_buffer read ready first 2. epoll_ctl(efd, EPOLL_CTL_ADD, trace_pipe_fd, ee) 3. epoll_wait() 4. read(trace_pipe_fd) till EAGAIN 5. Add some more data to the trace_pipe ring_buffer 6. epoll_wait() -> this epoll_wait() will block forever ~ During the epoll_ctl(efd, EPOLL_CTL_ADD,...) call in step 2, ring_buffer_poll_wait() returns immediately without adding poll_table, which has poll_table->_qproc pointing to ep_poll_callback(), to its wait_queue. ~ During the epoll_wait() call in step 3 and step 6, ring_buffer_poll_wait() cannot add ep_poll_callback() to its wait_queue because the poll_table->_qproc is NULL and it is how epoll works. ~ When there is new data available in step 6, ring_buffer does not know it has to call ep_poll_callback() because it is not in its wait queue. Hence, block forever. Other poll implementation seems to call poll_wait() unconditionally as the very first thing to do. For example, tcp_poll() in tcp.c. 2014-07-15pinctrl: st: Fix irqmux handlerMaxime COQUELIN
st_gpio_irqmux_handler() reads the status register to find out which banks inside the controller have pending IRQs. For each banks having pending IRQs, it calls the corresponding handler. Problem is that current code restricts the number of possible banks inside the controller to ST_GPIO_PINS_PER_BANK. This define represents the number of pins inside a bank, so it shouldn't be used here. On STiH407, PIO_FRONT0 controller has 10 banks, so IRQs pending in the two last banks (PIO18 & PIO19) aren't handled. This patch replace ST_GPIO_PINS_PER_BANK by the number of banks inside the controller. 2014-07-15libata: EH should handle AMNF error condition as a media errorAlexey Asemov
libata-eh.c should handle AMNF error condition (error byte bit 0, usually code 0x01) in libata-eh.c along with UNC as a media error so SCSI stack can handle it properly (translation code 0x01 is already present in libata-scsi.c) but was never passed down due to lack of handling in EH. While using linux-based machine (AMD 6550M-based notebook, PCI IDs for the controller are 1022:7801 subsys 1025:059d) and ddrescue to salvage data from failing hard drive (WD7500BPVT 2.5" 750G SATA2), I've found that pure AMNF 0x01 error code generates generic "device error" that is retried several times by SCSI stack instead of "media error" that is passed up to software. So we may assume deprecated AMNF error code is surely not dead yet, and it's better for it to be handled properly. As we may see it is used by modern enough devices, and used properly: drive returned AMNF only when IDs for track cannot be read completely due to dying head or positioning, otherwise it returned UNC(orrectables). Not handling it causes wrong generic error code ("device error") reporting down the stack, can damage failing drives further because of excessive retries, and slows salvaging down a lot. Also, there is handling code in libata-scsi.c for 0x01 AMNF error already. https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=80031 tj: Shortened $SUBJ and moved its content to the first paragraph. 2014-07-15tracing: Fix graph tracer with stack tracer on other archsSteven Rostedt (Red Hat)
Running my ftrace tests on PowerPC, it failed the test that checks if function_graph tracer is affected by the stack tracer. It was. Looking into this, I found that the update_function_graph_func() must be called even if the trampoline function is not changed. This is because archs like PowerPC do not support ftrace_ops being passed by assembly and instead uses a helper function (what the trampoline function points to). Since this function is not changed even when multiple ftrace_ops are added to the code, the test that falls out before calling update_function_graph_func() will miss that the update must still be done. 2014-07-15cgroup: initialize cgrp_dfl_root_inhibit_ss_mask from !->dfl_files testTejun Heo
cgrp_dfl_root_inhibit_ss_mask determines which subsystems are not supported on the default hierarchy and is currently initialized statically and just includes the debug subsystem. Now that there's cgroup_subsys->dfl_files, we can easily tell which subsystems support the default hierarchy or not. Let's initialize cgrp_dfl_root_inhibit_ss_mask by testing whether cgroup_subsys->dfl_files is NULL. After all, subsystems with NULL ->dfl_files aren't useable on the default hierarchy anyway. 2014-07-15cgroup: make CFTYPE_ONLY_ON_DFL and CFTYPE_NO_ internal to cgroup coreTejun Heo

Let's make it clear that the flags are internal by prefixing them with double underscores. CFTYPE_INSANE is renamed to __CFTYPE_NOT_ON_DFL for consistency. The two flags are also collected and assigned bits >= 16 so that they aren't mixed with the published flags. v2: Convert the extra ones in cgroup_exit_cftypes() which are added by revision to the previous patch. 2014-07-15cgroup: distinguish the default and legacy hierarchies when handling cftypesTejun Heo
Until now, cftype arrays carried files for both the default and legacy hierarchies and the files which needed to be used on only one of them were flagged with either CFTYPE_ONLY_ON_DFL or CFTYPE_INSANE. This gets confusing very quickly and we may end up exposing interface files to the default hierarchy without thinking it through. This patch makes cgroup core provide separate sets of interfaces for cftype handling so that the cftypes for the default and legacy hierarchies are clearly distinguished. The previous two patches renamed the existing ones so that they clearly indicate that they're for the legacy hierarchies. This patch adds the interface for the default hierarchy and apply them selectively depending on the hierarchy type. * cftypes added through cgroup_subsys->dfl_cftypes and cgroup_add_dfl_cftypes() only show up on the default hierarchy. * cftypes added through cgroup_subsys->legacy_cftypes and cgroup_add_legacy_cftypes() only show up on the legacy hierarchies. * cgroup_subsys->dfl_cftypes and ->legacy_cftypes can point to the same array for the cases where the interface files are identical on both types of hierarchies. * This makes all the existing subsystem interface files legacy-only by default and all subsystems will have no interface file created when enabled on the default hierarchy. Each subsystem should explicitly review and compose the interface for the default hierarchy. * A boot param "cgroup__DEVEL__legacy_files_on_dfl" is added which makes subsystems which haven't decided the interface files for the default hierarchy to present the legacy files on the default hierarchy so that its behavior on the default hierarchy can be tested. As the awkward name suggests, this is for development only. * memcg's CFTYPE_INSANE on "use_hierarchy" is noop now as the whole array isn't used on the default hierarchy. 2014-07-15cgroup: replace cgroup_add_cftypes() with cgroup_add_legacy_cftypes()Tejun Heo
Currently, cftypes added by cgroup_add_cftypes() are used for both the unified default hierarchy and legacy ones and subsystems can mark each file with either CFTYPE_ONLY_ON_DFL or CFTYPE_INSANE if it has to appear only on one of them. This is quite hairy and error-prone. Also, we may end up exposing interface files to the default hierarchy without thinking it through. cgroup_subsys will grow two separate cftype addition functions and apply each only on the hierarchies of the matching type. This will allow organizing cftypes in a lot clearer way and encourage subsystems to scrutinize the interface which is being exposed in the new default hierarchy. In preparation, this patch adds cgroup_add_legacy_cftypes() which currently is a simple wrapper around cgroup_add_cftypes() and replaces all cgroup_add_cftypes() usages with it. While at it, this patch drops a completely spurious return from __hugetlb_cgroup_file_init(). This patch doesn't introduce any functional differences. 2014-07-15cgroup: rename cgroup_subsys->base_cftypes to ->legacy_cftypesTejun Heo
Currently, cgroup_subsys->base_cftypes is used for both the unified default hierarchy and legacy ones and subsystems can mark each file with either CFTYPE_ONLY_ON_DFL or CFTYPE_INSANE if it has to appear only on one of them. This is quite hairy and error-prone. Also, we may end up exposing interface files to the default hierarchy without thinking it through. cgroup_subsys will grow two separate cftype arrays and apply each only on the hierarchies of the matching type. This will allow organizing cftypes in a lot clearer way and encourage subsystems to scrutinize the interface which is being exposed in the new default hierarchy. In preparation, this patch renames cgroup_subsys->base_cftypes to cgroup_subsys->legacy_cftypes. This patch is pure rename. 2014-07-15cgroup: split cgroup_base_files[] into cgroup_{dfl|legacy}_base_files[]Tejun Heo
Currently cgroup_base_files[] contains the cgroup core interface files for both legacy and default hierarchies with each file tagged with CFTYPE_INSANE and CFTYPE_ONLY_ON_DFL. This is difficult to read. Let's separate it out to two separate tables, cgroup_dfl_base_files[] and cgroup_legacy_base_files[], and use the appropriate one in cgroup_mkdir() depending on the hierarchy type. This makes tagging each file unnecessary. This patch doesn't introduce any behavior changes. v2: cgroup_dfl_base_files[] was missing the termination entry triggering WARN in cgroup_init_cftypes() for 0day kernel testing robot. Fixed. 2014-07-15tracing: Add ftrace_trace_stack into __trace_puts/__trace_bputszhangwei(Jovi)
Currently trace option stacktrace is not applicable for trace_printk with constant string argument, the reason is in __trace_puts/__trace_bputs ftrace_trace_stack is missing. In contrast, when using trace_printk with non constant string argument(will call into __trace_printk/__trace_bprintk), then trace option stacktrace is workable, this inconstant result will confuses users a lot. 2014-07-15ALSA: hda - Fix broken PM due to incomplete i915 initializationTakashi Iwai
When the initialization of Intel HDMI controller fails due to missing i915 kernel symbols (e.g. HD-audio is built in while i915 is module), the driver discontinues the probe. However, since the probe was done asynchronously, the driver object still remains, thus the relevant PM ops are still called at suspend/resume. This results in the bad access to the incomplete audio card object, eventually leads to Oops or stall at PM. This patch adds the missing checks of chip->init_failed flag at each PM callback in order to fix the problem above. 2014-07-15PM / sleep: Fix request_firmware() error at resumeTakashi Iwai
The commit [247bc037: PM / Sleep: Mitigate race between the freezer and request_firmware()] introduced the finer state control, but it also leads to a new bug; for example, a bug report regarding the firmware loading of intel BT device at suspend/resume: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=873790 The root cause seems to be a small window between the process resume and the clear of usermodehelper lock. The request_firmware() function checks the UMH lock and gives up when it's in UMH_DISABLE state. This is for avoiding the invalid f/w loading during suspend/resume phase. The problem is, however, that usermodehelper_enable() is called at the end of thaw_processes(). Thus, a thawed process in between can kick off the f/w loader code path (in this case, via btusb_setup_intel()) even before the call of usermodehelper_enable(). Then usermodehelper_read_trylock() returns an error and request_firmware() spews WARN_ON() in the end. This oneliner patch fixes the issue just by setting to UMH_FREEZING state again before restarting tasks, so that the call of request_firmware() will be blocked until the end of this function instead of returning an error. 2014-07-15clk: sunxi: sun6i-apb0-gates: use bitmaps for valid gate indicesChen-Yu Tsai
sun6i-apb0-gates uses the "clock-indices" DT property to indicate valid gate bits or holes in between. However, the rest of sunxi clock drivers use bitmaps for this purpose. This patch modifies sun6i-apb0-gates to use bitmaps as well, to be consistent with the sunxi platform. Also add the missing call to clk_register_clkdev, so system clock lookups will work.
