2012-07-05ACPI: intel_idle : break dependency between modulesDaniel Lezcano
When the system is booted with some cpus offline, the idle driver is not initialized. When a cpu is set online, the acpi code call the intel idle init function. Unfortunately this code introduce a dependency between intel_idle and acpi. This patch is intended to remove this dependency by using the notifier of intel_idle. 2012-07-05PM / Domains: Allow device callbacks to be added at any timeRafael J. Wysocki
Make it possible to modify device callbacks used by the generic PM domains core code at any time, not only after the device has been added to a domain. This will allow device drivers to provide their own device PM domain callbacks even if they are registered before adding the devices to PM domains. For this purpose, use the observation that the struct generic_pm_domain_data object containing the relevant callback pointers may be allocated by pm_genpd_add_callbacks() and the callbacks may be set before __pm_genpd_add_device() is run for the given device. 2012-07-05PM / Domains: Add device domain data reference counterRafael J. Wysocki
Add a mechanism for counting references to the struct generic_pm_domain_data object pointed to by dev->power.subsys_data->domain_data if the device in question belongs to a generic PM domain. This change is necessary for a subsequent patch making it possible to allocate that object from within pm_genpd_add_callbacks(), so that drivers can attach their PM domain device callbacks to devices before those devices are added to PM domains. Stephane Eranian suggestted using 0xff as pseudo code for fixed uncore event and using the umask value to determine which of the fixed events we want to map to. So far there is at most one fixed counter in a uncore PMU. So just change the definition of UNCORE_FIXED_EVENT to 0xff. 2012-07-05perf/x86/amd: Unify AMD's generic and family 15h pmusRobert Richter
There is no need for keeping separate pmu structs. We can enable amd_{get,put}_event_constraints() functions also for family 15h event. The advantage is that there is only a single pmu struct for all AMD cpus. This patch introduces functions to setup the pmu to enabe core performance counters or counter constraints. Also, cpuid checks are used instead of family checks where possible. Thus, it enables the code independently of cpu families if the feature flag is set. 2012-07-05sched/nohz: Rewrite and fix load-avg computation -- againPeter Zijlstra
Thanks to Charles Wang for spotting the defects in the current code: - If we go idle during the sample window -- after sampling, we get a negative bias because we can negate our own sample. - If we wake up during the sample window we get a positive bias because we push the sample to a known active period. So rewrite the entire nohz load-avg muck once again, now adding copious documentation to the code. 2012-07-05sched: Fix fork() error path to not crashSalman Qazi
In dup_task_struct(), if arch_dup_task_struct() fails, the clean up code fails to clean up correctly. That's because the clean up code depends on unininitalized ti->task pointer. We fix this by making sure that the task and thread_info know about each other before we attempt to take the error path. 2012-07-05ARM: OMAP2+: am33xx: Make am33xx as a separate classVaibhav Hiremath
Initially, we decided to make am33xx family of device to fall under omap3 class (cpu_is_omap34xx() = true), since it carries Cortex-A8 core. But while adding complete baseport support (like, clock, power and hwmod) support, it is observed that, we are creating more and more problems by treating am33xx device as omap3 family, as nothing matches between them (except cortex-A8 mpu). So, after long discussion we have came to the conclusion that, we should not consider am33xx device as omap3 family, instead create separate class (SOC_AM33XX) under OMAP2PLUS. This means, for am33xx device, cpu_is_omap34xx() will return false, and only cpu_is_am33xx() will be true. The chained handler was set for the platform device with id == 0. When the gpio devices are instantiated by a device tree, all have id == -1 and so the handler was unset resulting in unusable gpio irqs on i.MX21 and i.MX27 (when using oftree). 2012-07-05gpio: fix bits conflict for gpio flagsLaxman Dewangan
The bit 2 and 3 in GPIO flag are allocated for the flag OPEN_DRAIN/OPEN_SOURCE. These bits are reused for the flag EXPORT/EXPORT_CHANGEABLE and so creating conflict. The feature GPIO_MSM_V1 is only available on three SoCs. On all other MSM SoCs the INT_GPIO_GROUP{1,2} is undeclared, but Kconfig does allow such configurations. Therefore the produced configuration is valid, but does not compile. If there is no platform data available, the driver shouldn't use the pointer or it will oops. 2012-07-05regulator: dt: add policy to have property "regulator-compatible"Laxman Dewangan
Add the policy for regulator DT such that if device have multiple regulator and its binding contains a child node that describes each regulator then each regulator child node must have the property "regulator-compatible" which matches with regulator name of their hardware counterparts. Modify the DT documentation of regulator devices to reflect this policy.
