2025-03-16ASoC: SDCA: Add type flag for ControlsCharles Keepax
SDCA Controls come in a variety of data formats, to simplify later parsing work out this data type as the control is parsed and stash it for later use. 2025-03-16ASoC: SDCA: Allow naming of imp def controlsCharles Keepax
Implementation defined controls will not be present in the large list of known controls for SDCA. The driver should not return an error for these, because it is perfectly legal to have implementation defined controls. Update the handling to instead generate a generic name. 2025-03-16ASoC: SDCA: Tidy up initialization write parsingCharles Keepax
Slightly neaten up the initialization write code to overlay a struct rather than shifting the pointer along manually. This also removes the Sparse warning: sound/soc/sdca/sdca_functions.c:233:36: warning: cast to restricted __le32 Signed-off-by: Charles Keepax <ckeepax@opensource.cirrus.com> Link: https://patch.msgid.link/20250312172205.4152686-2-ckeepax@opensource.cirrus.com Signed-off-by: Mark Brown <broonie@kernel.org>
2025-03-16ASoC: pcm6240: Drop bogus code handling IRQ as GPIOLinus Walleij
The current code for the IRQ in pcm6240 makes no sense: it looks up an IRQ with of_irq_get(), treat it as a GPIO by issuing gpio_request(), gpio_direction_input() and gpio_to_irq() on it. This is just wrong, if the device tree assigns the IRQ from a GPIO number this is just incorrect: it is clearly stated that GPIO providers and IRQ providers are orthogonal. It is possible to look up an IRQ to a corresponding GPIO line but this is taking an IRQ and pretending it's a GPIO, which is just semantically wrong. Drop the offending code and treat the IRQ that we get from the device tree as any other IRQ, see for example other codec drivers. The DT bindings for this codec does not have any in-tree DTS files, which may explain why things are weird. As a bonus, this moves the driver away from the legacy <linux/gpio.h> include. 2025-03-16ASoC: pcm3008: Convert to GPIO descriptorsLinus Walleij
This converts the PCM3008 driver to look up the GPIO lines using descriptors. Apparently there are no in-tree users of the platform data struct, so users need to adopt. New users can associate the GPIO lines with the platform device "pcm3008-codec". 2025-03-17erofs: support dot-omitted directoriesGao Xiang
There's no need to record "." dirents in the directory data (while they could be used for sanity checks, they aren't very useful.) Omitting "." dirents also improves directory data deduplication. Use a per-inode (instead of per-sb) flag to indicate if the "." dirent is omitted or not, ensuring compatibility with incremental builds. It also reuses EROFS_I_NLINK_1_BIT, as it has very limited use cases for directories with `nlink = 1`. Emit the "." entry as the last virtual dirent in the directory because it is _much_ less frequently used than the ".." dirent. It also keeps `f_pos` meaningful, as it strictly follows the directory data when it's less than i_size. 2025-03-17erofs: implement 48-bit block addressing for unencoded inodesGao Xiang
It adapts the on-disk changes from the previous commit. It also supports EROFS_NULL_ADDR (all 1's) for EROFS_INODE_FLAT_PLAIN inodes to indicate 0-filled inodes, as it's common for composefs use cases. As a result, EROFS_INODE_CHUNK_BASED is no longer needed. 2025-03-17erofs: add 48-bit block addressing on-disk supportGao Xiang
The current 32-bit block addressing limits EROFS to a 16TiB maximum volume size with 4KiB blocks. However, several new use cases now require larger capacity support: - Massive datasets for model training in order to boost random sampling performance for each epoch; - Object storage clients using EROFS direct passthrough. This extends core on-disk structures to support 48-bit block addressing, such as inodes, device slots, and inode chunks. Additionally: - Expand superblock root NID to 8-byte `rootnid_8b` to enable full out-of-place update incremental builds; - Introduce `epoch` field in the superblock as well as add `mtime` field to 32-byte compact inodes for basic timestamp support. 2025-03-17erofs: clean up header parsing for ztailpacking and fragmentsGao Xiang
Simplify the logic in z_erofs_fill_inode_lazy() by combining the handling of ztailpacking and fragments, as they are mutually exclusive. 2025-03-17erofs: simplify tail inline pcluster handlingGao Xiang
Use `z_idata_size != 0` to indicate that ztailpacking is enabled. `Z_EROFS_ADVISE_INLINE_PCLUSTER` cannot be ignored, as `h_idata_size` could be non-zero prior to erofs-utils 1.6 [1]. 2025-03-17erofs: allow 16-byte volume name againGao Xiang
Actually, volume name doesn't need to include the NIL terminator if the string length matches the on-disk field size as mentioned in [1]. I tend to relax it together with the upcoming 48-bit block addressing (or stable kernels which backport this fix) so that we could have a chance to record a 16-byte volume name like ext4. Since in-memory `volume_name` has no user, just get rid of the unneeded check for now. `sbi->uuid` is useless and avoid it too. 2025-03-15arm64: dts: rockchip: remove ethm0_clk0_25m_out from Sige5 gmac0Nicolas Frattaroli
The GPIO3 A4 pin on the ArmSoM Sige5 is routed to the 40-pin GPIO header. This pin can serve a variety of functions, including ones of questionable use to us on a GPIO header such as the 25MHz clock of the ethernet controller. Unfortunately, this is the precise function that it is being claimed for by the gmac0 node in the Sige5 board dts, meaning it can't be used for anything else despite serving no useful function in this role. Since it goes through a RS0108 bidirectional voltage level translator with a maximum data rate of 24Mbit/s in push-pull mode and 2Mbit/s data rate in open-drain mode, it's doubtful as to whether the 25MHz clock signal would even survive to the actual user-accessible pin it terminates in. Remove it to leave the pin for users to play with. It's infinitely more useful as a GPIO or even as a PWM. 2025-03-15ALSA: hda/realtek: Always honor no_shutup_pinsTakashi Iwai
The workaround for Dell machines to skip the pin-shutup for mic pins introduced alc_headset_mic_no_shutup() that is replaced from the generic snd_hda_shutup_pins() for certain codecs. The problem is that the call is done unconditionally even if spec->no_shutup_pins is set. This seems causing problems on other platforms like Lenovo. There is no need to go through the GENERIC_IOMAP wrapper for PIO on nommu platforms, since these always come from PCI I/O space that is itself memory mapped. Instead, the generic ioport_map() can just return the MMIO location of the ports directly by applying the PCI_IO_PA offset, while ioread32/iowrite32 trivially turn into readl/writel as they do on most other architectures. 2025-03-15mips: drop GENERIC_IOMAP wrapperArnd Bergmann
All PIO on MIPS platforms is memory mapped, so there is no benefit in the lib/iomap.c wrappers that switch between inb/outb and readb/writeb style accessses. In fact, the '#define PIO_RESERVED 0' setting completely disables the GENERIC_IOMAP functionality, and the '#define PIO_OFFSET mips_io_port_base' setting is based on a misunderstanding of what the offset is meant to do. MIPS started using GENERIC_IOMAP in 2018 with commit b962aeb02205 ("MIPS: Use GENERIC_IOMAP") replacing a simple custom implementation of the same interfaces, but at the time the asm-generic/io.h version was not usable yet. Since the header is now always included, it's now possible to go back to the even simpler version. Use the normal GENERIC_PCI_IOMAP functionality for all mips platforms without the hacky GENERIC_IOMAP, and provide a custom pci_iounmap() for the CONFIG_PCI_DRIVERS_LEGACY case to ensure the I/O port base never gets unmapped. The readsl() prototype needs an extra 'const' keyword to make it compatible with the generic ioread32_rep() alias. Signed-off-by: Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de>
2025-03-15Revert "sched/core: Reduce cost of sched_move_task when config autogroup"Dietmar Eggemann
This reverts commit eff6c8ce8d4d7faef75f66614dd20bb50595d261. Hazem reported a 30% drop in UnixBench spawn test with commit eff6c8ce8d4d ("sched/core: Reduce cost of sched_move_task when config autogroup") on a m6g.xlarge AWS EC2 instance with 4 vCPUs and 16 GiB RAM (aarch64) (single level MC sched domain): https://lkml.kernel.org/r/20250205151026.13061-1-hagarhem@amazon.com There is an early bail from sched_move_task() if p->sched_task_group is equal to p's 'cpu cgroup' (sched_get_task_group()). E.g. both are pointing to taskgroup '/user.slice/user-1000.slice/session-1.scope' (Ubuntu '22.04.5 LTS'). So in: do_exit() sched_autogroup_exit_task() sched_move_task() if sched_get_task_group(p) == p->sched_task_group return /* p is enqueued */ dequeue_task() \ sched_change_group() | task_change_group_fair() | detach_task_cfs_rq() | (1) set_task_rq() | attach_task_cfs_rq() | enqueue_task() / (1) isn't called for p anymore. Turns out that the regression is related to sgs->group_util in group_is_overloaded() and group_has_capacity(). If (1) isn't called for all the 'spawn' tasks then sgs->group_util is ~900 and sgs->group_capacity = 1024 (single CPU sched domain) and this leads to group_is_overloaded() returning true (2) and group_has_capacity() false (3) much more often compared to the case when (1) is called. I.e. there are much more cases of 'group_is_overloaded' and 'group_fully_busy' in WF_FORK wakeup sched_balance_find_dst_cpu() which then returns much more often a CPU != smp_processor_id() (5). This isn't good for these extremely short running tasks (FORK + EXIT) and also involves calling sched_balance_find_dst_group_cpu() unnecessary (single CPU sched domain). Instead if (1) is called for 'p->flags & PF_EXITING' then the path (4),(6) is taken much more often. select_task_rq_fair(..., wake_flags = WF_FORK) cpu = smp_processor_id() new_cpu = sched_balance_find_dst_cpu(..., cpu, ...) group = sched_balance_find_dst_group(..., cpu) do { update_sg_wakeup_stats() sgs->group_type = group_classify() if group_is_overloaded() (2) return group_overloaded if !group_has_capacity() (3) return group_fully_busy return group_has_spare (4) } while group if local_sgs.group_type > idlest_sgs.group_type return idlest (5) case group_has_spare: if local_sgs.idle_cpus >= idlest_sgs.idle_cpus return NULL (6) Unixbench Tests './Run -c 4 spawn' on: (a) VM AWS instance (m7gd.16xlarge) with v6.13 ('maxcpus=4 nr_cpus=4') and Ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS (aarch64). 2025-03-15sched/uclamp: Optimize sched_uclamp_used static key enablingXuewen Yan
Repeat calls of static_branch_enable() to an already enabled static key introduce overhead, because it calls cpus_read_lock(). Users may frequently set the uclamp value of tasks, triggering the repeat enabling of the sched_uclamp_used static key. Optimize this and avoid repeat calls to static_branch_enable() by checking whether it's enabled already. 2025-03-15tracing: tprobe-events: Fix leakage of module refcountMasami Hiramatsu (Google)
When enabling the tracepoint at loading module, the target module refcount is incremented by find_tracepoint_in_module(). But it is unnecessary because the module is not unloaded while processing module loading callbacks. Moreover, the refcount is not decremented in that function. To be clear the module refcount handling, move the try_module_get() callsite to trace_fprobe_create_internal(), where it is actually required. 2025-03-15tracing: tprobe-events: Fix to clean up tprobe correctly when module unloadMasami Hiramatsu (Google)
When unloading module, the tprobe events are not correctly cleaned up. Thus it becomes `fprobe-event` and never be enabled again even if loading the same module again. For example; # cd /sys/kernel/tracing # modprobe trace_events_sample # echo 't:my_tprobe foo_bar' >> dynamic_events # cat dynamic_events t:tracepoints/my_tprobe foo_bar # rmmod trace_events_sample # cat dynamic_events f:tracepoints/my_tprobe foo_bar As you can see, the second time my_tprobe starts with 'f' instead of 't'. This unregisters the fprobe and tracepoint callback when module is unloaded but marks the fprobe-event is tprobe-event.
