2017-12-11mac80211: don't warn on AID field without top two MSBs setJohannes Berg
While the change between 802.11-2012 and 802.11-2016 to move from requiring APs to set the two top bits to now requiring them to be cleared was apparently unintentional and will be fixed, clients should either way assume that the top five bits are reserved and ignore them. 2017-12-11cfg80211: cleanup signal strength units notationSergey Matyukevich
Both cfg80211_rx_mgmt and cfg80211_report_obss_beacon functions send reports to userspace using NL80211_ATTR_RX_SIGNAL_DBM attribute w/o any processing of their input signal values. Which means that in order to match userspace tools expectations, input signal values for those functions are supposed to be in dBm units. This patch cleans up comments, variable names, and trace reports for those functions, replacing confusing 'mBm' by 'dBm'. 2017-12-11mac80211: remove BUG() when interface type is invalidLuca Coelho
In the ieee80211_setup_sdata() we check if the interface type is valid and, if not, call BUG(). This should never happen, but if there is something wrong with the code, it will not be caught until the bug happens when an interface is being set up. Calling BUG() is too extreme for this and a WARN_ON() would be better used instead. Change that. 2017-12-11mac80211: call synchronize_net once in the restart flowSara Sharon
Currently the restart flow enables RX back, and then proceeds to tear down RX and TX aggregations. The TX aggregation tear down calls synchronize_net(), which waits for packet receiving to be done. This is done for every session, while RX processing is already active, and in some reproductions it takes up to 3 seconds. Add a call once in the restart_work, before we have traffic active again, and remove the subsequent calls when tearing down the aggregation. This requires to move down the code that turns off the reconfig flag in order to be able to test it in _ieee80211_stop_tx_ba_session(). 2017-12-11mac80211: always update the PM state of a peer on MGMT / DATA framesEmmanuel Grumbach
The 2016 version of the spec is more generic about when the AP should update the power management state of the peer: the AP shall update the state based on any management or data frames. This means that even non-bufferable management frames should be looked at to update to maintain the power management state of the peer. This can avoid problematic cases for example if a station disappears while being asleep and then re-appears. The AP would remember it as in power save, but the Authentication frame couldn't be used to set the peer as awake again. Note that this issues wasn't really critical since at some point (after the association) we would have removed the station and created another one with all the states cleared. 2017-12-11mac80211_hwsim: enforce PS_MANUAL_POLL to be set after PS_ENABLEDAdiel Aloni
Enforce using PS_MANUAL_POLL in ps hwsim debugfs to trigger a poll, only if PS_ENABLED was set before. This is required due to commit c9491367b759 ("mac80211: always update the PM state of a peer on MGMT / DATA frames") that enforces the ap to check only mgmt/data frames ps bit, and then update station's power save accordingly. When sending only ps-poll (control frame) the ap will not be aware that the station entered power save. Setting ps enable before triggering ps_poll, will send NDP with PM bit enabled first. 2017-12-11mac80211: avoid looking up tid_tx/tid_rx from timersJohannes Berg
There's no need to re-lookup the data structures now that we actually get them immediately with from_timer(), just avoid that. The struct has to be valid anyway, otherwise the timer object itself would no longer be valid, and we can't have a different version of the struct since only a single session per TID is permitted. In host mode reading from DPTXSIZn returning invalid value in dwc2_check_param_tx_fifo_sizes function. In total TxFIFO size calculations unnecessarily reducing by ep_info. hw->total_fifo_size can be fully allocated for FIFO's. Added num_dev_in_eps member in dwc2_hw_params structure to save number of IN EPs. Added g_tx_fifo_size array in dwc2_hw_params structure to store power on reset values of DPTXSIZn registers in forced device mode. Updated dwc2_hsotg_tx_fifo_count() function to get TxFIFO count from num_dev_in_eps. Updated dwc2_get_dev_hwparams() function to store DPTXFSIZn in g_tx_fifo_size array. dwc2_get_host/dev_hwparams() functions call moved after num_dev_in_eps set from hwcfg4. Modified dwc2_check_param_tx_fifo_sizes() function to check TxFIFOn sizes based on g_tx_fifo_size array. Removed ep_info subtraction during calculation of tx_addr_max in dwc2_hsotg_tx_fifo_total_depth() function. Also removed dwc2_hsotg_ep_info_size() function as no more need. 2017-12-11ovl: don't follow redirects if redirect_dir=offMiklos Szeredi
Overlayfs is following redirects even when redirects are disabled. If this is unintentional (probably the majority of cases) then this can be a problem. E.g. upper layer comes from untrusted USB drive, and attacker crafts a redirect to enable read access to otherwise unreadable directories. If "redirect_dir=off", then turn off following as well as creation of redirects. If "redirect_dir=follow", then turn on following, but turn off creation of redirects (which is what "redirect_dir=off" does now). It's possible for ext4_get_acl() to return an ERR_PTR. So we need to add a check for this case in __ext4_new_inode(). Otherwise on an error we can end up oops the kernel. 2017-12-11dmaengine: dmatest: move callback wait queue to thread contextAdam Wallis
Commit adfa543e7314 ("dmatest: don't use set_freezable_with_signal()") introduced a bug (that is in fact documented by the patch commit text) that leaves behind a dangling pointer. Since the done_wait structure is allocated on the stack, future invocations to the DMATEST can produce undesirable results (e.g., corrupted spinlocks). Commit a9df21e34b42 ("dmaengine: dmatest: warn user when dma test times out") attempted to WARN the user that the stack was likely corrupted but did not fix the actual issue. This patch fixes the issue by pushing the wait queue and callback structs into the the thread structure. If a failure occurs due to time, dmaengine_terminate_all will force the callback to safely call wake_up_all() without possibility of using a freed pointer. 2017-12-08xfs: make iomap_begin functions trim iomaps consistentlyDarrick J. Wong
Historically, the XFS iomap_begin function only returned mappings for exactly the range queried, i.e. it doesn't do XFS_BMAPI_ENTIRE lookups. The current vfs iomap consumers are only set up to deal with trimmed mappings. xfs_xattr_iomap_begin does BMAPI_ENTIRE lookups, which is inconsistent with the current iomap usage. Remove the flag so that both iomap_begin functions behave the same way. FWIW this also fixes a behavioral regression in xattr FIEMAP that was introduced in 4.8 wherein attr fork extents are no longer trimmed like they used to be. Signed-off-by: Darrick J. If we create a new file we will need an inode, and usually some metadata in the parent direction. Aiming for everything to go well despite the lack of a reservation leads to dirty transactions cancelled under a heavy create/delete load. This patch removes those nospace transactions, which will lead to slightly earlier ENOSPC on some workloads, but instead prevent file system shutdowns due to cancelling dirty transactions for others.
