2023-08-23Merge patch series "riscv: Allow userspace to directly access perf counters"Palmer Dabbelt
Alexandre Ghiti <alexghiti@rivosinc.com> says: riscv used to allow direct access to cycle/time/instret counters, bypassing the perf framework, this patchset intends to allow the user to mmap any counter when accessed through perf. **Important**: The default mode is now user access through perf only, not the legacy so some applications will break. However, we introduce a sysctl perf_user_access like arm64 does, which will allow to switch to the legacy mode described above. This version needs openSBI v1.3 *and* a kernel fix that went upstream lately (https://lore.kernel.org/lkml/20230616114831.3186980-1-maz@kernel.org/T/). * b4-shazam-merge: perf: tests: Adapt mmap-basic.c for riscv tools: lib: perf: Implement riscv mmap support Documentation: admin-guide: Add riscv sysctl_perf_user_access drivers: perf: Implement perf event mmap support in the SBI backend drivers: perf: Implement perf event mmap support in the legacy backend riscv: Prepare for user-space perf event mmap support drivers: perf: Rename riscv pmu sbi driver riscv: Make legacy counter enum match the HW numbering include: riscv: Fix wrong include guard in riscv_pmu.h perf: Fix wrong comment about default event_idx Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20230802080328.1213905-1-alexghiti@rivosinc.com Signed-off-by: Palmer Dabbelt <palmer@rivosinc.com>
2023-08-23riscv: Require FRAME_POINTER for some configurationsBjörn Töpel
Some V configurations implicitly turn on '-fno-omit-frame-pointer', but leaving FRAME_POINTER disabled. This makes it hard to reason about the FRAME_POINTER config, and also triggers build failures introduced in by the commit in the Fixes: tag. Select FRAME_POINTER explicitly for these configurations. 2023-08-23erofs: release ztailpacking pclusters properlyJingbo Xu
Currently ztailpacking pclusters are chained with FOLLOWED_NOINPLACE and not recorded into the managed_pslots XArray. After commit 7674a42f35ea ("erofs: use struct lockref to replace handcrafted approach"), ztailpacking pclusters won't be freed with erofs_workgroup_put() anymore, which will cause the following issue: BUG erofs_pcluster-1 (Tainted: G OE ): Objects remaining in erofs_pcluster-1 on __kmem_cache_shutdown() Use z_erofs_free_pcluster() directly to free ztailpacking pclusters. 2023-08-23erofs: adapt folios for z_erofs_readahead()Gao Xiang
It's a straight-forward conversion except that readahead_folio() will do folio_put() in advance but it doesn't matter since folios are still locked. As before, since file-backed folios (pages for now) are locked, so we could temporarily use folio->private as an internal counter to indicate split parts of each folio for the corresponding pclusters to decompress. When such counter becomes zero, the folio will be finally unlocked (see compress.h and z_erofs_onlinepage_endio()). {collector, collection} were once reserved in order to indicate different runtime logical extent instance of multi-reference pclusters. 2023-08-23nvmem: core: Return NULL when no nvmem layout is foundMiquel Raynal
Currently, of_nvmem_layout_get_container() returns NULL on error, or an error pointer if either CONFIG_NVMEM or CONFIG_OF is turned off. We should likely avoid this kind of mix for two reasons: to clarify the intend and anyway fix the !CONFIG_OF which will likely always if we use this helper somewhere else. Let's just return NULL when no layout is found, we don't need an error value here. 2023-08-23nvmem: u-boot-env:: Replace zero-length array with DECLARE_FLEX_ARRAY() helperAtul Raut
We are moving toward replacing zero-length arrays with C99 flexible-array members since they are deprecated. Therefore, the new DECLARE_FLEX_ARRAY() helper macro should be used to replace the zero-length array declaration. This fixes warnings such as: ./drivers/nvmem/u-boot-env.c:50:9-13: WARNING use flexible-array member instead (https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/process/deprecated.html#zero-length-and-one-element-arrays) Signed-off-by: Atul Raut <rauji.raut@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Srinivas Kandagatla <srinivas.kandagatla@linaro.org> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20230823132744.350618-19-srinivas.kandagatla@linaro.org Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>

For some of the Qualcomm SoC's, it is possible that some of the fuse regions or entire qfprom region is protected from non-secure access. In such situations, the OS will have to use secure calls to read the region. With that motivation, add secure qfprom driver.
