2013-04-04uprobes/powerpc: Teach uprobes to ignore gdb breakpointsAnanth N Mavinakayanahalli
Powerpc has many trap variants that could be used by entities like gdb. Currently, running gdb on a program being traced by uprobes causes an endless loop since uprobes doesn't understand that the trap was inserted by some other entity and a SIGTRAP needs to be delivered. Teach uprobes to ignore breakpoints that do not belong to it. 2013-04-02cpufreq: Notify all policy->cpus in cpufreq_notify_transition()Viresh Kumar
policy->cpus contains all online cpus that have single shared clock line. And their frequencies are always updated together. Many SMP system's cpufreq drivers take care of this in individual drivers but the best place for this code is in cpufreq core. This patch modifies cpufreq_notify_transition() to notify frequency change for all cpus in policy->cpus and hence updates all users of this API. 2013-03-31net: add option to enable error queue packets waking selectKeller, Jacob E
Currently, when a socket receives something on the error queue it only wakes up the socket on select if it is in the "read" list, that is the socket has something to read. It is useful also to wake the socket if it is in the error list, which would enable software to wait on error queue packets without waking up for regular data on the socket. The main use case is for receiving timestamped transmit packets which return the timestamp to the socket via the error queue. For 32-bit, CONFIG_EPAPR_PARAVIRT pulls in both epapr_paravirt.c and epapr_hcalls.c which contains the 32-bit paravirt idle loop. For 64-bit, the paravirt idle loop is in idle_book3e.S and that source file is included only if CONFIG_PPC_BOOK3E_64 defined. This patch makes that dependency for 64-bit explicit. 2013-03-22mv643xx_eth: convert to use the Marvell Orion MDIO driverFlorian Fainelli
This patch converts the Marvell MV643XX ethernet driver to use the Marvell Orion MDIO driver. As a result, PowerPC and ARM platforms registering the Marvell MV643XX ethernet driver are also updated to register a Marvell Orion MDIO driver. This driver voluntarily overlaps with the Marvell Ethernet shared registers because it will use a subset of this shared register (shared_base + 0x4 to shared_base + 0x84). The Ethernet driver is also updated to look up for a PHY device using the Orion MDIO bus driver. For ARM and PowerPC we register a single instance of the "mvmdio" driver in the system like it used to be done with the use of the "shared_smi" platform_data cookie on ARM. Note that it is safe to register the mvmdio driver only for the "ge00" instance of the driver because this "ge00" interface is guaranteed to always be explicitely registered by consumers of arch/arm/plat-orion/common.c and other instances (ge01, ge10 and ge11) were all pointing their shared_smi to ge00. For PowerPC the in-tree Device Tree Source files mention only one MV643XX ethernet MAC instance so the MDIO bus driver is registered only when id == 0. 2013-03-22kvm/ppc/e500: eliminate tlb_refsScott Wood
Commit 523f0e5421c12610527c620b983b443f329e3a32 ("KVM: PPC: E500: Explicitly mark shadow maps invalid") began using E500_TLB_VALID for guest TLB1 entries, and skipping invalidations if it's not set. However, when E500_TLB_VALID was set for such entries, it was on a fake local ref, and so the invalidations never happen. gtlb_privs is documented as being only for guest TLB0, though we already violate that with E500_TLB_BITMAP. Now that we have MMU notifiers, and thus don't need to actually retain a reference to the mapped pages, get rid of tlb_refs, and use gtlb_privs for E500_TLB_VALID in TLB1. Since we can have more than one host TLB entry for a given tlbe_ref, be careful not to clear existing flags that are relevant to other host TLB entries when preparing a new host TLB entry. 2013-03-22KVM: PPC: Added one_reg interface for timer registersBharat Bhushan
If userspace wants to change some specific bits of TSR (timer status register) then it uses GET/SET_SREGS ioctl interface. So the steps will be: i) user-space will make get ioctl, ii) change TSR in userspace iii) then make set ioctl. It can happen that TSR gets changed by kernel after step i) and before step iii). To avoid this we have added below one_reg ioctls for oring and clearing specific bits in TSR. This patch adds one registerface for: 1) setting specific bit in TSR (timer status register) 2) clearing specific bit in TSR (timer status register) 3) setting/getting the TCR register. There are cases where we want to only change TCR and not TSR. Although we can uses SREGS without KVM_SREGS_E_UPDATE_TSR flag but I think one reg is better. If bpf_jit_enable > 1, then we dump the emitted JIT compiled image after creation. Currently, only SPARC and PowerPC has similar output as in the reference implementation on x86_64. Make a small helper function in order to reduce duplicated code and make the dump output uniform across architectures x86_64, SPARC, PPC, ARM (e.g. on ARM flen, pass and proglen are currently not shown, but would be interesting to know as well), also for future BPF JIT implementations on other archs. This patch change the kernel VSID range so that we limit VSID_BITS to 37. This enables us to support 64TB with 65 bit VA (37+28). Without this patch we have boot hangs on platforms that only support 65 bit VA. With this patch we now have proto vsid generated as below: We first generate a 37-bit "proto-VSID". Proto-VSIDs are generated from mmu context id and effective segment id of the address. 2013-03-13powerpc: Fix -mcmodel=medium breakage in prom_init.cAnton Blanchard
Commit 5ac47f7a6efb (powerpc: Relocate prom_init.c on 64bit) made prom_init.c position independent by manually relocating its entries in the TOC. We get the address of the TOC entries with the __prom_init_toc_start linker symbol. If __prom_init_toc_start ends up as an entry in the TOC then we need to add an offset to get the current address. This is the case for older toolchains. On the other hand, if we have a newer toolchain that supports -mcmodel=medium then __prom_init_toc_start will be created by a relative offset from r2 (the TOC pointer). Since r2 has already been relocated, nothing more needs to be done. Adding an offset in this case is wrong and Aaro Koskinen and Alexander Graf have noticed noticed G5 and OpenBIOS breakage. Alan Modra suggested we just use r2 to get at the TOC which is simpler and works with both old and new toolchains.
