2023-11-20arm64: dts: rockchip: Update powkiddy,rgb30 include to rk2023 DTSIChris Morgan
The Powkiddy RGB30 device is similar to the Anbernic RGxx3 series, however there are several differences which require deleting nodes in order to properly define the hardware. This was deemed unacceptable for the RK2023, so instead create a common include file for the Powkiddy RGB30 and the Powkiddy RK2023. The only notable difference between these Powkiddy devices are the panel in use, the device name, and the PLL_VPLL frequency necessary to support the different panels. Since the RK2023 was released on the market first, name the common include file after it. 2023-11-20arm64: dts: renesas: rzg3s-smarc: Enable SDHI1Claudiu Beznea
Add SDHI1 to RZ/G3S Smarc Carrier-II board. This is connected to a uSD interface. Although Vccq doesn't cross the boundary of SoM it has been added to RZ/G3S Smarc Carrier-II dtsi to have all the bits related to SDHI1 in a single place. At the moment SoM is used only with RZ/G3S Smarc Carrier-II board. To be able to select b/w these a compilation flag has been added (SW_SD2_EN) at the moment being instantiated to select SDHI2. 2023-11-19ARM: at91: pm: set soc_pm.data.mode in at91_pm_secure_init()Thomas Perrot
In non secure mode, soc_pm.data.mode is set when entering pm in at91_pm_begin(). This value is used (not only) to determine if the system is going into slow clock mode (at91_suspend_entering_slow_clock()). This function is called from various drivers to check this and act accordingly. If not set, the driver might enter an incorrect suspend mode. When using secure suspend mode, at91_pm_begin() is not called and thus soc_pm.data.mode is not set. Since when using secure suspend, only one suspend mode is supported, set this value directly in at91_pm_secure_init(). The Orange Pi Zero 2W is a board based on the Allwinner H618 SoC. It uses the RaspberryPi Zero form factor, with an optional expansion board, connected via an FPC connector, to provide more connectors. The base board features: - Allwinner H618 SoC (quad Cortex-A53 cores, with 1MB L2 cache) - 1, 2 or 4GB of LPDDR4 DRAM - SD card socket - two USB-C sockets, one UFP, one DFP - HDMI connector - (yet unsupported) WiFi module - 16 MiB SPI flash - power supply via the UFP USB-C port The FPC connector provides access to two more USB host ports, Fast Ethernet, some GPIOs, Audio Line out and the IR receiver pin. 2023-11-18parisc: Replace strlcpy() with strscpy()Kees Cook
strlcpy() reads the entire source buffer first. This read may exceed the destination size limit. This is both inefficient and can lead to linear read overflows if a source string is not NUL-terminated[1]. Additionally, it returns the size of the source string, not the resulting size of the destination string. In an effort to remove strlcpy() completely[2], replace strlcpy() here with strscpy(). 2023-11-17x86/lib: Fix overflow when counting digitsColin Ian King
tl;dr: The num_digits() function has a theoretical overflow issue. But it doesn't affect any actual in-tree users. Fix it by using a larger type for one of the local variables. Long version: There is an overflow in variable m in function num_digits when val is >= 1410065408 which leads to the digit calculation loop to iterate more times than required. This results in either more digits being counted or in some cases (for example where val is 1932683193) the value of m eventually overflows to zero and the while loop spins forever). Currently the function num_digits is currently only being used for small values of val in the SMP boot stage for digit counting on the number of cpus and NUMA nodes, so the overflow is never encountered. However it is useful to fix the overflow issue in case the function is used for other purposes in the future. (The issue was discovered while investigating the digit counting performance in various kernel helper functions rather than any real-world use-case). The simplest fix is to make m a long long, the overhead in multiplication speed for a long long is very minor for small values of val less than 10000 on modern processors. The alternative fix is to replace the multiplication with a constant division by 10 loop (this compiles down to an multiplication and shift) without needing to make m a long long, but this is slightly slower than the fix in this commit when measured on a range of x86 processors). 2023-11-17perf/x86/intel/cstate: Add Sierra Forest supportKan Liang
A new module C6 Residency Counter is introduced in the Sierra Forest. The scope of the new counter is module (A cluster of cores shared L2 cache). Create a brand new cstate_module PMU to profile the new counter. The only differences between the new cstate_module PMU and the existing cstate PMU are the scope and events. Regarding the choice of the new cstate_module PMU name, the current naming rule of a cstate PMU is "cstate_" + the scope of the PMU. The scope of the PMU is the cores shared L2. On SRF, Intel calls it "module", while the internal Linux sched code calls it "cluster". The "cstate_module" is used as the new PMU name, because - The Cstate PMU driver is a Intel specific driver. It doesn't impact other ARCHs. The name makes it consistent with the documentation. - The "cluster" mainly be used by the scheduler developer, while the user of cstate PMU is more likely a researcher reading HW docs and optimizing power. - In the Intel's SDM, the "cluster" has a different meaning/scope for topology. Using it will mislead the end users. Besides the module C6, the core C1/C6 and pkg C6 residency counters are supported in the Sierra Forest as well. I also didn't manage to record sound from the onboard microphone, but that also fails with the vendor kernel. Thus I assume the microphone on my board is fried. Matoro reported various userspace crashes on the parisc platform with kernel 6.6 and bisected it to commit 3033cd430768 ("parisc: Use generic mmap top-down layout and brk randomization"). That commit switched parisc to use the common infrastructure to calculate mmap_base, but missed that the mmap_base() function takes care for architectures where the stack grows downwards only. Fix the mmap_base() calculation to include the stack-grows-upwards case and thus fix the userspace crashes on parisc. When the host invalidates a guest page, it will also check if the page was used to map the prefix of any guest CPUs, in which case they are stopped and marked as needing a prefix refresh. Upon starting the affected CPUs again, their prefix pages are explicitly faulted in and revalidated if they had been invalidated. A bit in the PGSTEs indicates whether or not a page might contain a prefix. The bit is allowed to overindicate. Pages above 2G are skipped, because they cannot be prefixes, since KVM runs all guests with MSO = 0. The same applies for nested guests (VSIE). When the host invalidates a guest page that maps the prefix of the nested guest, it has to stop the affected nested guest CPUs and mark them as needing a prefix refresh. The same PGSTE bit used for the guest prefix is also used for the nested guest. Pages above 2G are skipped like for normal guests, which is the source of the bug. The nested guest runs is the guest primary address space. The guest could be running the nested guest using MSO != 0. If the MSO + prefix for the nested guest is above 2G, the check for nested prefix will skip it. This will cause the invalidation notifier to not stop the CPUs of the nested guest and not mark them as needing refresh. When the nested guest is run again, its prefix will not be refreshed, since it has not been marked for refresh. This will cause a fatal validity intercept with VIR code 37. Fix this by removing the check for 2G for nested guests. Now all invalidations of pages with the notify bit set will always scan the existing VSIE shadow state descriptors. This allows to catch invalidations of nested guest prefix mappings even when the prefix is above 2G in the guest virtual address space.
