Some userland application/program runtime/dynamic loaded need to
know about the current ISA level to use the best runtime.
While kernel doesn't provides this info.
ELF_PLATFORM only provides some info about the CPU, with very few info,
for example, the value is "mips" for both 24Kc and P6600.
Currently ELF_BASE_PLATFORM is not used by MIPS (only by powerpc).
So we cant set its value as:
mips2, mips3, mips4, mips5,
mips32, mips32r2, mips32r6
mips64, mips64r2, mips64r6
Then in userland, we can get it by:
getauxval(AT_BASE_PLATFORM)
The only problem is that it seems has different defination than ppc:
on ppc, it is the mircoarchitecture
while now we use it as ISA level on MIPS.

Simplify gen_btf logic to make it work with llvm-objcopy. The existing
'file format' and 'architecture' parsing logic is brittle and does not
work with llvm-objcopy/llvm-objdump.
'file format' output of llvm-objdump>=11 will match GNU objdump, but
'architecture' (bfdarch) may not.
.BTF in .tmp_vmlinux.btf is non-SHF_ALLOC. Add the SHF_ALLOC flag
because it is part of vmlinux image used for introspection. C code
can reference the section via linker script defined __start_BTF and
__stop_BTF. This fixes a small problem that previous .BTF had the
SHF_WRITE flag (objcopy -I binary -O elf* synthesized .data).
Additionally, `objcopy -I binary` synthesized symbols
_binary__btf_vmlinux_bin_start and _binary__btf_vmlinux_bin_stop (not
used elsewhere) are replaced with more commonplace __start_BTF and
__stop_BTF.
Add 2>/dev/null because GNU objcopy (but not llvm-objcopy) warns
"empty loadable segment detected at vaddr=0xffffffff81000000, is this intentional?"
We use a dd command to change the e_type field in the ELF header from
ET_EXEC to ET_REL so that lld will accept .btf.vmlinux.bin.o. Accepting
ET_EXEC as an input file is an extremely rare GNU ld feature that lld
does not intend to support, because this is error-prone.
The output section description .BTF in include/asm-generic/vmlinux.lds.h
avoids potential subtle orphan section placement issues and suppresses
--orphan-handling=warn warnings.

When booting x86 images in qemu, the following warning is seen randomly
if DEBUG_LOCKDEP is enabled.

lockdep_register_key+0xc0/0x100
static_obj() returns true if an address is between _stext and _end.
On x86, this includes the brk memory space. Problem is that this memory
block is not static on x86; its unused portions are released after init
and can be allocated. This results in the observed warning if a lockdep
object is allocated from this memory.
Solve the problem by implementing arch_is_kernel_initmem_freed() for
x86 and have it return true if an address is within the released memory
range.
The same problem was solved for s390 with commit
7a5da02de8d6e ("locking/lockdep: check for freed initmem in static_obj()"),
which introduced arch_is_kernel_initmem_freed().

In order to use efi_mem_type(), one needs CONFIG_EFI enabled. Otherwise
that function is undefined. Use IS_ENABLED() to check and avoid the
ifdeffery as the compiler optimizes away the following unreachable code
then.

request_irq() is preferred over setup_irq(). Invocations of setup_irq()
occur after memory allocators are ready.
Per tglx[1], setup_irq() existed in olden days when allocators were not
ready by the time early interrupts were initialized.
Hence replace setup_irq() by request_irq().

The TI sci-clk driver can scan the DT for all clocks provided by system
firmware and does this by checking the clocks property of all nodes, so
we must add this to the dwc3 nodes so USB clocks are available.
Without this USB does not work with latest system firmware i.e.

Enabling KASLR forces the use of non-global page-table entries for kernel
mappings, as this is a decision that we have to make very early on before
mapping the kernel proper. When used in conjunction with the "kpti=off"
command-line option, it is possible to use non-global kernel mappings but
with the kpti trampoline disabled.
Since commit 09e3c22a86f6 ("arm64: Use a variable to store non-global
mappings decision"), arm64_kernel_unmapped_at_el0() reflects only the use of
non-global mappings and does not take into account whether the kpti
trampoline is enabled. This breaks context switching of the TPIDRRO_EL0
register for 64-bit tasks, where the clearing of the register is deferred to
the ret-to-user code, but it also breaks the ARM SPE PMU driver which
helpfully recommends passing "kpti=off" on the command line!
Report whether or not KPTI is actually enabled in
arm64_kernel_unmapped_at_el0() and check the 'arm64_use_ng_mappings' global
variable directly when determining the protection flags for kernel mappings.

The old drivers/char/rtc.c driver was originally the implementation
for x86 PCs but got subsequently replaced by the rtc class driver
on all architectures except alpha.
Move alpha over to the portable driver and remove the old one
for good.
The CONFIG_JS_RTC option was only ever used on SPARC32 but
has not been available for many years, this was used to build
the same rtc driver with a different module name.

There are two EFI RTC drivers, the original drivers/char/efirtc.c
driver and the more modern drivers/rtc/rtc-efi.c.
Both implement the same interface, but the new one does so
in a more portable way.
Move everything over to that one and remove the old one.

This is caused by a use-after-free in kvmppc_mmu_pte_flush_all()
which dereferences vcpu->arch.book3s which was previously freed by
kvmppc_core_vcpu_free_pr(). This happens because kvmppc_mmu_destroy()
is called after kvmppc_core_vcpu_free() since commit ff030fdf5573
("KVM: PPC: Move kvm_vcpu_init() invocation to common code").
The kvmppc_mmu_destroy() helper calls one of the following depending
on the KVM backend:
- kvmppc_mmu_destroy_hv() which does nothing (Book3s HV)
- kvmppc_mmu_destroy_pr() which undoes the effects of
kvmppc_mmu_init() (Book3s PR 32-bit)
- kvmppc_mmu_destroy_pr() which undoes the effects of
kvmppc_mmu_init() (Book3s PR 64-bit)
- kvmppc_mmu_destroy_e500() which does nothing (BookE e500/e500mc)
It turns out that this is only relevant to PR KVM actually. And both
32 and 64 backends need vcpu->arch.book3s to be valid when calling
kvmppc_mmu_destroy_pr(). So instead of calling kvmppc_mmu_destroy()
from kvm_arch_vcpu_destroy(), call kvmppc_mmu_destroy_pr() at the
beginning of kvmppc_core_vcpu_free_pr(). This is consistent with
kvmppc_mmu_init() being the last call in kvmppc_core_vcpu_create_pr().
For the same reason, if kvmppc_core_vcpu_create_pr() returns an
error then this means that kvmppc_mmu_init() was either not called
or failed, in which case kvmppc_mmu_destroy() should not be called.
Drop the line in the error path of kvm_arch_vcpu_create().

The h_cede_tm kvm-unit-test currently fails when run inside an L1 guest
via the guest/nested hypervisor.

While the test relates to transactional memory instructions, the actual
failure is due to the return code of the H_CEDE hypercall, which is
reported as 224 instead of 0. This happens even when no TM instructions
are issued.
224 is the value placed in r3 to execute a hypercall for H_CEDE, and r3
is where the caller expects the return code to be placed upon return.
In the case of guest running under a nested hypervisor, issuing H_CEDE
causes a return from H_ENTER_NESTED. In this case H_CEDE is
specially-handled immediately rather than later in
kvmppc_pseries_do_hcall() as with most other hcalls, but we forget to
set the return code for the caller, hence why kvm-unit-test sees the
224 return code and reports an error.
Guest kernels generally don't check the return value of H_CEDE, so
that likely explains why this hasn't caused issues outside of
kvm-unit-tests so far.
Fix this by setting r3 to 0 after we finish processing the H_CEDE.

On P9 DD2.2 due to a CPU defect some TM instructions need to be emulated by
KVM. This is handled at first by the hardware raising a softpatch interrupt
when certain TM instructions that need KVM assistance are executed in the
guest. Althought some TM instructions per Power ISA are invalid forms they
can raise a softpatch interrupt too. For instance, 'tresume.' instruction
as defined in the ISA must have bit 31 set (1), but an instruction that
matches 'tresume.' PO and XO opcode fields but has bit 31 not set (0), like
0x7cfe9ddc, also raises a softpatch interrupt. Similarly for 'treclaim.'
and 'trechkpt.' instructions with bit 31 = 0, i.e. 0x7c00075c and
0x7c0007dc, respectively. Hence, if a code like the following is executed
in the guest it will raise a softpatch interrupt just like a 'tresume.'

to enable the TM facility):

and then treats the executed instruction as a 'nop'.
However the POWER9 User's Manual, in section "4.6.10 Book II Invalid
Forms", informs that for TM instructions bit 31 is in fact ignored, thus
for the TM-related invalid forms ignoring bit 31 and handling them like the
valid forms is an acceptable way to handle them. POWER8 behaves the same
way too.
This commit changes the handling of the cases here described by treating
the TM-related invalid forms that can generate a softpatch interrupt
just like their valid forms (w/ bit 31 = 1) instead of as a 'nop' and by
gently reporting any other unrecognized case to the host and treating it as
illegal instruction instead of throwing a trace and treating it as a 'nop'.

In kvmppc_unmap_free_pte() in book3s_64_mmu_radix.c, we use the
non-constant value PTE_INDEX_SIZE to clear a PTE page.
We can instead use the constant RADIX_PTE_INDEX_SIZE, because we know
this code will only be running when the Radix MMU is active.
Note that we already use RADIX_PTE_INDEX_SIZE for the allocation of
kvm_pte_cache.

This makes the same changes in the page fault handler for HPT guests
that commits 31c8b0d0694a ("KVM: PPC: Book3S HV: Use __gfn_to_pfn_memslot()
in page fault handler", 2018-03-01), 71d29f43b633 ("KVM: PPC: Book3S HV:
Don't use compound_order to determine host mapping size", 2018-09-11)
and 6579804c4317 ("KVM: PPC: Book3S HV: Avoid crash from THP collapse
during radix page fault", 2018-10-04) made for the page fault handler
for radix guests.
In summary, where we used to call get_user_pages_fast() and then do
special handling for VM_PFNMAP vmas, we now call __get_user_pages_fast()
and then __gfn_to_pfn_memslot() if that fails, followed by reading the
Linux PTE to get the host PFN, host page size and mapping attributes.
This also brings in the change from SetPageDirty() to set_page_dirty_lock()
which was done for the radix page fault handler in commit c3856aeb2940
("KVM: PPC: Book3S HV: Fix handling of large pages in radix page fault
handler", 2018-02-23).

This patch fixes the IPI(inner processor interrupt) missing issue. It
failed because it used hartid_mask to iterate for_each_cpu(), however the
cpu_mask and hartid_mask may not be always the same. It will never send the
IPI to hartid 4 because it will be skipped in for_each_cpu loop in my case.
We can reproduce this case in Qemu sifive_u machine by this command.

It will hang in csd_lock_wait(csd) because the csd_unlock(csd) is not
called. It is not called because hartid 4 doesn't receive the IPI to
release this lock. The caller hart doesn't send the IPI to hartid 4 is
because of hartid 4 is skipped in for_each_cpu(). It will be skipped is
because "(cpu) < nr_cpu_ids" is not true. The hartid is 4 and nr_cpu_ids
is 4. Therefore it should use cpumask in for_each_cpu() instead of
hartid_mask.

It might have the unaligned access exception when trying to exchange data
with user space program. In this case, it failed in tty_ioctl(). Therefore
we should enable uaccess.S for NOMMU mode since the generic code doesn't
handle the unaligned access cases.

be done with that. We are guaranteed to be on shallow stack
here...
Note that conditional expression for range passed to access_ok()
in mainline had been pointless all along - the only difference
between vm86plus_struct and vm86_struct is that the former has
one extra field in the end and when we get to copyin of that
field (conditional upon 'plus' argument), we use copy_from_user().
Moreover, all fields starting with ->int_revectored are copied
that way, so we only need that check (be it done by access_ok()
or by user_access_begin()) only on the beginning of the structure -
the fields that used to be covered by that get_user_try() block.

The PWM backlight still supports passing a enable GPIO line as
platform data using the legacy <linux/gpio.h> API.
It turns out that ever board using this mechanism except one
is pass .enable_gpio = -1. So we drop all these cargo-culted -1's
from all instances of this platform data in the kernel.
The remaning board, Palm TC, is converted to pass a machine
descriptior table with the "enable" GPIO instead, and delete the
platform data entry for enable_gpio and the code handling it
and things should work smoothly with the new API.

The function show_trace_task() was removed during linux 2.5 development
and replaced with show_stack(). This was never impemented for openrisc
but must have got in via copying from another architecture. Just remove
it.

In kvm_arch_dev_ioctl(), the brackets of case KVM_X86_GET_MCE_CAP_SUPPORTED
accidently encapsulates case KVM_GET_MSR_FEATURE_INDEX_LIST and case
KVM_GET_MSRS. It doesn't affect functionality but it's misleading.
Remove unnecessary brackets and opportunistically add a "break" in the
default path.

Tack on "used max basic" at the end of the CPUID tracepoint when the
output values correspond to the max basic leaf, i.e. when emulating
Intel's out-of-range CPUID behavior. Observing "cpuid entry not found"
in the tracepoint with non-zero output values is confusing for users
that aren't familiar with the out-of-range semantics, and qualifying the
"not found" case hopefully makes it clear that "found" means "found the
exact entry".

Output the requested index when tracing CPUID emulation; it's basically
mandatory for leafs where the index is meaningful, and is helpful for
verifying KVM correctness even when the index isn't meaningful, e.g. the
trace for a Linux guest's hypervisor_cpuid_base() probing appears to
be broken (returns all zeroes) at first glance, but is correct because
the index is non-zero, i.e. the output values correspond to a random
index in the maximum basic leaf.

EFER is set for L2 using svm_set_efer, which hardcodes EFER_SVME to 1 and hides
an incorrect value for EFER.SVME in the L1 VMCB. Perform the check manually
to detect invalid guest state.

Fix many sparse warnings when building with C=1. These are useless noise
from the bitops.h file and getting rid of them helps developers make
more use of the tools and possibly find real bugs.
When the kernel is compiled with C=1, there are lots of messages like:
arch/x86/include/asm/bitops.h:77:37: warning: cast truncates bits from constant value (ffffff7f becomes 7f)
CONST_MASK() is using a signed integer "1" to create the mask which is
later cast to (u8), in order to yield an 8-bit value for the assembly
instructions to use. Simplify the expressions used to clearly indicate
they are working on 8-bit values only, which still keeps sparse happy
without an accidental promotion to a 32 bit integer.
The warning was occurring because certain bitmasks that end with a bit
set next to a natural boundary like 7, 15, 23, 31, end up with a mask
like 0x7f, which then results in sign extension due to the integer type
promotion rules[1]. It was really only clear_bit() that was having
problems, and it was only on some bit checks that resulted in a mask
like 0xffffff7f being generated after the inversion.
Verify with a test module (see next patch) and assembly inspection that
the fix doesn't introduce any change in generated code.

FLASH_MINOR is used in both drivers/char/nwflash.c and
drivers/sbus/char/flash.c with conflict minor numbers.
Move all the definitions of FLASH_MINOR into miscdevice.h.
Rename FLASH_MINOR for drivers/char/nwflash.c to NWFLASH_MINOR
and FLASH_MINOR for drivers/sbus/char/flash.c to SBUS_FLASH_MINOR.

The name of nested_vmx_exit_reflected suggests that it's purely
a test, but it actually marks VMCS12 pages as dirty. Move this to
vmx_handle_exit, observing that the initial nested_run_pending check in
nested_vmx_exit_reflected is pointless---nested_run_pending has just
been cleared in vmx_vcpu_run and won't be set until handle_vmlaunch
or handle_vmresume.

Compile all functions with two ptrauth instructions: PACIASP in the
prologue to sign the return address, and AUTIASP in the epilogue to
authenticate the return address (from the stack). If authentication
fails, the return will cause an instruction abort to be taken, followed
by an oops and killing the task.
This should help protect the kernel against attacks using
return-oriented programming. As ptrauth protects the return address, it
can also serve as a replacement for CONFIG_STACKPROTECTOR, although note
that it does not protect other parts of the stack.
The new instructions are in the HINT encoding space, so on a system
without ptrauth they execute as NOPs.
CONFIG_ARM64_PTR_AUTH now not only enables ptrauth for userspace and KVM
guests, but also automatically builds the kernel with ptrauth
instructions if the compiler supports it. If there is no compiler
support, we do not warn that the kernel was built without ptrauth
instructions.
GCC 7 and 8 support the -msign-return-address option, while GCC 9
deprecates that option and replaces it with -mbranch-protection. Support
both options.
Clang uses an external assembler hence this patch makes sure that the
correct parameters (-march=armv8.3-a) are passed down to help it recognize
the ptrauth instructions.
Ftrace function tracer works properly with Ptrauth only when
patchable-function-entry feature is present and is ensured by the
Kconfig dependency.

This patch restores the kernel keys from current task during cpu resume
after the mmu is turned on and ptrauth is enabled.
A flag is added in macro ptrauth_keys_install_kernel to check if isb
instruction needs to be executed.
