2020-12-15drm/omap: drop unused dsi.configure_pinsSebastian Reichel
The panel-dsi-cm's ddata->pin_config is always NULL, so this callback is never called. Instead the DSI encoder gets the pin configuration directly from DT. 2020-11-10drm/omap: Fix runtime PM imbalance on errorDinghao Liu
pm_runtime_get_sync() increments the runtime PM usage counter even when it returns an error code. However, users of its direct wrappers in omapdrm assume that PM usage counter will not change on error. 2020-06-23drm: bridge: Pass drm_display_info to drm_bridge_funcs .mode_valid()Laurent Pinchart
When validating a mode, bridges may need to do so in the context of a display, as specified by drm_display_info. An example is the meson dw-hdmi bridge that needs to consider the YUV 4:2:0 output format to perform clock calculations. Bridges that need the display info currently retrieve it from the drm_connector created by the bridge. This gets in the way of moving connector creation out of bridge drivers. To make this possible, pass the drm_display_info to drm_bridge_funcs .mode_valid(). Changes to the bridge drivers have been performed with the following coccinelle semantic patch and have been compile-tested. @ rule1 @ identifier funcs; identifier fn; @@ struct drm_bridge_funcs funcs = { ..., .mode_valid = fn }; @ depends on rule1 @ identifier rule1.fn; identifier bridge; identifier mode; @@ enum drm_mode_status fn( struct drm_bridge *bridge, + const struct drm_display_info *info, const struct drm_display_mode *mode ) { ... } Signed-off-by: Laurent Pinchart <laurent.pinchart+renesas@ideasonboard.com> Reviewed-by: Neil Armstrong <narmstrong@baylibre.com> Reviewed-by: Boris Brezillon <boris.brezillon@collabora.com> Reviewed-by: Guido Günther <agx@sigxcpu.org> # for the nwl-dsi part: Signed-off-by: Sam Ravnborg <sam@ravnborg.org> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20200526011505.31884-11-laurent.pinchart+renesas@ideasonboard.com
2020-06-14treewide: replace '---help---' in Kconfig files with 'help'Masahiro Yamada
Since commit 84af7a6194e4 ("checkpatch: kconfig: prefer 'help' over '---help---'"), the number of '---help---' has been gradually decreasing, but there are still more than 2400 instances. This commit finishes the conversion. While I touched the lines, I also fixed the indentation. There are a variety of indentation styles found. a) 4 spaces + '---help---' b) 7 spaces + '---help---' c) 8 spaces + '---help---' d) 1 space + 1 tab + '---help---' e) 1 tab + '---help---' (correct indentation) f) 1 tab + 1 space + '---help---' g) 1 tab + 2 spaces + '---help---' In order to convert all of them to 1 tab + 'help', I ran the following commend: $ find . -name 'Kconfig*' | xargs sed -i 's/^[[:space:]]*---help---/\thelp/' Signed-off-by: Masahiro Yamada <masahiroy@kernel.org>
2020-05-05drm/omap: change default signal polarities and drivesTomi Valkeinen
If the given videomode does not specify DISPLAY_FLAG_* for the specific signal property, the driver used a default value. These defaults were never thought through, as the expectation was that all the DISPLAY_FLAGS are always set explicitly. With DRM bridge and panel drivers this is not the case, and while that issue should be resolved in the future, it's still good to have sane signal defaults. This patch changes the defaults to what the hardware has as reset defaults. Also, based on my experience, I think they make sense and are more likely correct than the defaults without this patch. 2020-02-26drm/omap: Prepare DSS for probing without legacy platform dataTony Lindgren
In order to probe display subsystem (DSS) components with ti-sysc interconnect target module without legacy platform data and using devicetree, we need to update dss probing a bit. In the device tree, we will be defining the data also for the interconnect target modules as DSS really is a private interconnect. There is some information about that in 4460 TRM in "Figure 10-3. DSS Integration" for example where it mentions "32-bit interconnect (SLX)". The changes we need to make are: 1. Parse also device tree subnodes for the compatible property fixup 2. 2020-02-26drm/omap: venc: Register a drm_bridgeLaurent Pinchart
In order to integrate with a chain of drm_bridge, the internal VENC encoder has to expose the mode valid, fixup and set, the enable and disable and the get modes operations through the drm_bridge API. Register a bridge at initialisation time to do so. Most of those operations are removed from the omap_dss_device as they are now called through the drm_bridge API by the DRM atomic helpers. The only exception is the .get_modes() operation that is still invoked through the omap_dss_device-based pipeline. For the time being make the next bridge in the chain optional as the VENC output is still based on omap_dss_device. The create_connector argument to the bridge attach function is also ignored for the same reason. This will be changed later when removing the related omapdrm-specific display drivers. 2020-02-26drm/omap: hdmi5: Rework EDID read to isolate data readLaurent Pinchart
In preparation of adding DRM bridge support to the hdmi5 encoder code, rework the EDID read to isolate data read. The hdmi_read_edid() function is the main entry point. It performs all initialisation steps required prior to reading the EDID (such as ensuring the device is powered on), as well as corresponding cleanup steps afterwards. EDID read itself is handled by hdmi_read_edid_data() that calls the hdmi5_core_ddc_read() function to read individual blocks. This new code architecture will allow reusing hdmi_read_edid() and hdmi5_core_ddc_read() for the drm_bridge EDID read implementation, while swapping out hdmi_read_edid_data() for the DRM drm_do_get_edid() function. 2020-02-26drm/omap: Add infrastructure to support drm_bridge local to DSS outputsLaurent Pinchart
In order to support drm_bridge-based pipeline, the internal HDMI encoders will need to expose the EDID read operation through the drm_bridge API, and thus to expose a drm_bridge instance corresponding to the encoder. The HDMI encoders are however handled as omap_dss_device instances, which conflicts with this requirement. In order to move forward with the drm_bridge transition, add support for creating drm_bridge instances local to DSS outputs. If a local bridge is passed to the omapdss_device_init_output() function, it is used as the first bridge in the chain, and the omap_dss_device.next_bridge field is set to the next bridge for the use of the internal encoders' bridges.
