Commit 2f015ec6eab6 ("drm/dp_mst: Add sideband down request tracing +
selftests") added some debug code for sideband message tracing. But
it seems to have unintentionally changed the behavior on sideband message
failure. It catches and returns failure only if DRM_UT_DP is enabled.
Otherwise it ignores the error code and returns success. So on an MST
unplug, the caller is unaware that the clear payload message failed and
ends up waiting for 4 seconds for the response. Fixes the issue by
returning the proper error code.

HDMI and DisplayPort sequences states that audio and PSR should be
disabled before planes are disabled.
Not following it did not caused any problems up to Alderlake-P but
for this platform it causes underruns during the PSR2 disable
sequence.
Specification don't mention that DRRS should be disabled before planes
but it looks safer to switch back to the default refresh rate before
following with the rest of the pipe disable sequence.

Make sure the FIFO_CLEAR bit is latched in when configuring the
controller, so that the FIFO is really cleared. And then clear
the FIFO_CLEAR bit, since it is not self-clearing.

In case there is a bridge connected to the LCDIF, use bus_format
from the bridge, otherwise behave as before and use bus_format
from the connector. This way, even if there are multiple bridges
in the display pipeline, the LCDIF will use the correct format.

In case the DRAM is under high load, the MXSFB FIFO might underflow
and that causes visible artifacts. This could be triggered on i.MX8MM
using e.g. "$ memtester 128M" on a device with 1920x1080 panel. The
first "Stuck Address" test of the memtester will completely corrupt
the image on the panel and leave the MXSFB FIFO in odd state.
To avoid this underflow, increase number of outstanding requests to
DRAM from 2 to 16, which is the maximum. This mitigates the issue
and it can no longer be triggered.

There is some sort of corner case behavior of the controller,
which could rarely be triggered at least on i.MX6SX connected
to 800x480 DPI panel and i.MX8MM connected to DPI->DSI->LVDS
bridged 1920x1080 panel (and likely on other setups too), where
the image on the panel shifts to the right and wraps around.
This happens either when the controller is enabled on boot or
even later during run time. The condition does not correct
itself automatically, i.e. the display image remains shifted.
It seems this problem is known and is due to sporadic underflows
of the LCDIF FIFO. While the LCDIF IP does have underflow/overflow
IRQs, neither of the IRQs trigger and neither IRQ status bit is
asserted when this condition occurs.
All known revisions of the LCDIF IP have CTRL1 RECOVER_ON_UNDERFLOW
bit, which is described in the reference manual since i.MX23 as
"
Set this bit to enable the LCDIF block to recover in the next
field/frame if there was an underflow in the current field/frame.
"
Enable this bit to mitigate the sporadic underflows.

We've gotten a number of reports about backlight control not
working on panels which indicate that they use aux backlight
control. A recent patch:

We used to unconditionally set backlight path as AUX for panels capable
of backlight adjustment via DPCD in set default brightness.

Changes some other code to only use aux for backlight control on
OLED panels. The commit message seems to indicate that PWM should
be used for SDR mode on HDR panels. Do something similar for
backlight control in general. This may need to be revisited if and
when HDR started to get used.

[Why]
We don't check DENTIST_DISPCLK_CHG_DONE to ensure dentist
display clockis updated to target value. In some scenarios with large
display clock margin, it will deliver unfinished display clock and cause
issues like display black screen.
[How]
Checking DENTIST_DISPCLK_CHG_DONE to ensure display clock
has been update to target value before driver do other clock related
actions.

There is a scenario that dp cable is unplugged from DUT during system
suspended will cause audio option state does not match real connection
state. Fix this problem by Signaling audio plugged change with realtime
connection status at dp_pm_resume() so that audio option will be in
correct state after system resumed.

Some bootloaders set the widebus enable bit in the INTF_CONFIG register,
but configuration of widebus isn't yet supported ensure that the
register has a known value, with widebus disabled.

DP cable should always connect to DPU during the entire PHY compliance
testing run. Since DP PHY compliance test is executed at irq_hpd event
context, dp_ctrl_off_link_stream() should be used instead of dp_ctrl_off().
dp_ctrl_off() is used for unplug event which is triggered when DP cable is
dis connected.

It turns out that when the display is enabled by the bootloader, we can
get some transient iommu faults from the display. Which doesn't go over
too well when we install a fault handler that is gpu specific. To avoid
this, defer installing the fault handler until we get around to setting
up per-process pgtables (which is adreno_smmu specific). The arm-smmu
fallback error reporting is sufficient for reporting display related
faults (and in fact was all we had prior to f8f934c180f629bb927a04fd90d)

There's two stages of manual upload/invalidate displays:
- just handling dirtyfb and uploading the entire fb all the time
- looking at damage clips
In the latter case we support it through fbdev emulation (with
fb_defio), atomic property, and with the dirtfy clip rects.
Make sure at least the atomic property is set up as the main official
interface for this. Ideally we'd also check that
drm_atomic_helper_dirtyfb() is used and that fbdev defio is set up,
but that's quite a bit harder to do. Ideas very much welcome.
From a cursor audit drivers seem to be getting this right mostly, but
better to make sure. At least no one is bypassing the accessor
function.

It's not used. Drivers should instead use the helpers anyway.
Currently both vbox and i915 hand-roll this and it's not the greatest.
vbox looks buggy, and i915 does a bit much that helpers would take
care of I think.
Also improve the kerneldocs while we're at it.

PSF GV points are an additional factor that can limit the
bandwidth available to display, separate from the traditional
QGV points. Whereas traditional QGV points represent possible
memory clock frequencies, PSF GV points reflect possible
frequencies of the memory fabric.
Switching between PSF GV points has the advantage of incurring
almost no memory access block time and thus does not need to be
accounted for in watermark calculations.
This patch adds support for those on top of regular QGV points.
Those are supposed to be used simultaneously, i.e we are always
at some QGV and some PSF GV point, based on the current video
mode requirements.

v2: Seems that initial assumption made during ml conversation
was wrong, PCode rejects any masks containing points beyond
the ones returned, so even though BSpec says we have around
8 points theoretically, we can mask/unmask only those which
are returned, trying to manipulate those beyond causes a
failure from PCode. So switched back to generating mask
from 1 - num_qgv_points, where num_qgv_points is the actual
amount of points, advertised by PCode.

EHL and JSL add the 'Bypass LLC' MOCS entry, which should make it
possible for userspace to bypass the GTT caching bits set by the kernel,
as per the given object cache_level. This is troublesome since the heavy
flush we apply when first acquiring the pages is skipped if the kernel
thinks the object is coherent with the GPU. As a result it might be
possible to bypass the cache and read the contents of the page directly,
which could be stale data. If it's just a case of userspace shooting
themselves in the foot then so be it, but since i915 takes the stance of
always zeroing memory before handing it to userspace, we need to prevent
this.

Many of the DSI flags have names opposite to their actual effects,
e.g. MIPI_DSI_MODE_EOT_PACKET means that EoT packets will actually
be disabled. Fix this by including _NO_ in the flag names, e.g.
MIPI_DSI_MODE_NO_EOT_PACKET.

The fast path only updates cursor register what will not cause
any updates in the screen when using PSR2 selective fetch.
The only option that we have is to go through the slow patch that will
do full atomic commit, that will trigger the PSR2 selective fetch
compute and programing calls.
Without this patch is possible to see a mouse movement lag in Gnome
when PSR2 selective fetch is enabled.

Without this planes that were added by intel_psr2_sel_fetch_update()
that intersect with pipe damaged area will not
have skl_program_plane() and intel_psr2_program_plane_sel_fetch()

In case when psp_init_asd_microcode() fails to load ASD microcode file,
psp_v12_0_init_microcode() tries to print the firmware filename that
failed to load before bailing out.
This is wrong because:
- the firmware filename it would want it print is an incorrect one as
psp_init_asd_microcode() and psp_v12_0_init_microcode() are loading
different filenames
- it tries to print fw_name, but that's not yet been initialized by that
time, so it prints random stack contents, e.g.
amdgpu 0000:04:00.0: Direct firmware load for amdgpu/renoir_asd.bin failed with error -2
amdgpu 0000:04:00.0: amdgpu: fail to initialize asd microcode
amdgpu 0000:04:00.0: amdgpu: psp v12.0: Failed to load firmware "\xfeTO\x8e\xff\xff"
Fix that by bailing out immediately, instead of priting the bogus error
message.

This reverts commit 4192f7b5768912ceda82be2f83c87ea7181f9980.
It is not true (as stated in the reverted commit changelog) that we never
unmap the BAR on failure; it actually does happen properly on
amdgpu_driver_load_kms() -> amdgpu_driver_unload_kms() ->
amdgpu_device_fini() error path.
What's worse, this commit actually completely breaks resource freeing on
probe failure (like e.g. failure to load microcode), as
amdgpu_driver_unload_kms() notices adev->rmmio being NULL and bails too
early, leaving all the resources that'd normally be freed in
amdgpu_acpi_fini() and amdgpu_device_fini() still hanging around, leading
to all sorts of oopses when someone tries to, for example, access the
sysfs and procfs resources which are still around while the driver is
gone.

If our exported dma-bufs are imported by another instance of our driver,
that instance will typically have the imported dma-bufs locked during
dma_buf_map_attachment(). But the exporter also locks the same reservation
object in the map_dma_buf() callback, which leads to recursive locking.
So taking the lock inside _pin_pages_unlocked() is incorrect.
Additionally, the current pinning code path is contrary to the defined
way that pinning should occur.
Remove the explicit pin/unpin from the map/umap functions and move them
to the attach/detach allowing correct locking to occur, and to match
the static dma-buf drm_prime pattern.
Add a live selftest to exercise both dynamic and non-dynamic
exports.

Without TTM, we have no such hook so we exit early but this is fine
because we use TTM on all LMEM platforms and, on integrated platforms,
there is no real migration. If we do have the hook, it's better to just
let TTM handle the migration because it knows where things are actually
placed.
This fixes a bug where i915_gem_object_migrate fails to migrate newly
created LMEM objects. In that scenario, the object has obj->mm.region
set to LMEM but TTM has it in SMEM because that's where all new objects
are placed there prior to getting actual pages. When we invoke
i915_gem_object_migrate, it exits early because, from the point of view
of the GEM object, it's already in LMEM and no migration is needed.
Then, when we try to pin the pages, __i915_ttm_get_pages is called
which, unaware of our failed attempt at a migration, places the object
in SMEM. This only happens on newly created objects because they have
this weird state where TTM thinks they're in SMEM, GEM thinks they're in
LMEM, and the reality is that they don't exist at all.
It's better if GEM just always calls into TTM and let's TTM handle
things. That way the lies stay better contained. Once the migration is
complete, the object will have pages, obj->mm.region will be correct,
and we're done lying.

__i915_ttm_get_pages does two things. First, it calls ttm_bo_validate()
to check the given placement and migrate the BO if needed. Then, it
updates the GEM object to match, in case the object was migrated. If
no migration occured, however, we might still have pages on the GEM
object in which case we don't need to fetch them from TTM and call
__i915_gem_object_set_pages. This hasn't been a problem before because
the primary user of __i915_ttm_get_pages is __i915_gem_object_get_pages
which only calls it if the GEM object doesn't have pages.
However, i915_ttm_migrate also uses __i915_ttm_get_pages to do the
migration so this meant it was unsafe to call on an already populated
object. This patch checks i915_gem_object_has_pages() before trying to
__i915_gem_object_set_pages so i915_ttm_migrate is safe to call, even on
populated objects.

Instead of hand-rolling the same three calls in each function, pull them
into an i915_gem_object_create_user helper. Apart from re-ordering of
the placements array ENOMEM check, there should be no functional change.

This doesn't really fix anything serious since the chances of a client
creating and destroying a mass of dumb BOs is pretty low. However, it
is called by the other two create IOCTLs to garbage collect old objects.

Since we don't allow changing the set of regions after creation, we can
make ext_set_placements() build up the region set directly in the
create_ext and assign it to the object later. This is similar to what
we did for contexts with the proto-context only simpler because there's
no funny object shuffling. This will be used in the next patch to allow
us to de-duplicate a bunch of code. Also, since we know the maximum
number of regions up-front, we can use a fixed-size temporary array for
the regions. This simplifies memory management a bit for this new
delayed approach.

We don't roll them together entirely because there are still a couple
cases where we want a separate can_migrate check. For instance, the
display code checks that you can migrate a buffer to LMEM before it
accepts it in fb_create. The dma-buf import code also uses it to do an
early check and return a different error code if someone tries to attach
a LMEM-only dma-buf to another driver.
However, no one actually wants to call object_migrate when can_migrate
has failed. The stated intention is for self-tests but none of those
actually take advantage of this unsafe migration.
