2024-02-13drm/xe: Add uAPI to query GuC firmware submission versionJosé Roberto de Souza
Due to a bug in GuC firmware, Mesa can't enable by default the usage of compute engines in DG2 and newer. A new GuC firmware fixed the issue but until now there was no way for Mesa to know if KMD was running with the fixed GuC version or not, so this uAPI is required. It may be expanded in future to query other firmware versions too. This is querying XE_UC_FW_VER_COMPATIBILITY/submission version because that is also supported by VFs, while XE_UC_FW_VER_RELEASE don't. i915 uAPI: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/series/129627/ Mesa usage: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/merge_requests/25233 v2: - fixed drm_xe_query_uc_fw_version documentation - moved branch_ver as the first version number Cc: John Harrison <John.C.Harrison@Intel.com> Cc: Francois Dugast <francois.dugast@intel.com> Cc: Lucas De Marchi <lucas.demarchi@intel.com> Signed-off-by: José Roberto de Souza <jose.souza@intel.com> Reviewed-by: Rodrigo Vivi <rodrigo.vivi@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Rodrigo Vivi <rodrigo.vivi@intel.com> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20240208183539.185095-1-jose.souza@intel.com

2024-02-13Revert "drm/amd: flush any delayed gfxoff on suspend entry"Mario Limonciello
commit ab4750332dbe ("drm/amdgpu/sdma5.2: add begin/end_use ring callbacks") caused GFXOFF control to be used more heavily and the codepath that was removed from commit 0dee72639533 ("drm/amd: flush any delayed gfxoff on suspend entry") now can be exercised at suspend again. Users report that by using GNOME to suspend the lockscreen trigger will cause SDMA traffic and the system can deadlock. This reverts commit 0dee726395333fea833eaaf838bc80962df886c8. 2024-02-13drm/amd: Stop evicting resources on APUs in suspendMario Limonciello
commit 5095d5418193 ("drm/amd: Evict resources during PM ops prepare() callback") intentionally moved the eviction of resources to earlier in the suspend process, but this introduced a subtle change that it occurs before adev->in_s0ix or adev->in_s3 are set. This meant that APUs actually started to evict resources at suspend time as well. Explicitly set s0ix or s3 in the prepare() stage, and unset them if the prepare() stage failed. v2: squash in warning fix from Stephen Rothwell Reported-by: Jürg Billeter <j@bitron.ch> Closes: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/amd/-/issues/3132#note_2271038 Fixes: 5095d5418193 ("drm/amd: Evict resources during PM ops prepare() callback") Acked-by: Alex Deucher <alexander.deucher@amd.com> Signed-off-by: Mario Limonciello <mario.limonciello@amd.com> Signed-off-by: Alex Deucher <alexander.deucher@amd.com>
2024-02-13drm/i915: Prevent HW access during init from connector get_modes hooksImre Deak
Prevent accessing the HW from the get_modes hooks of connectors deriving the mode list from the display's EDID. drm_edid_connector_add_modes() will return the mode list based on the EDID which was cached during a previous detection/get_modes call. This also fixes the NULL deref problem (10085) which was introduced/revealed by commit bab87ef4db9a ("drm/i915: Disable hotplug detection handlers during driver init/shutdown") After the above change MST connectors will not change state during driver init/shutdown; thus some of these connectors with no I2C/DDC adapter registered for them (since the given MST port has no sink connected) may stay then in the 'unknown' connector status. The get_modes() hook should not try to use the I2C/DDC adapter in this state (which would lead to the above NULL deref) which this patch ensures. v2: - Remove the redundant check from intel_crt_ddc_get_modes(). - Rebase on latest drm-tip. - Add Fixes: line / related commit notes. 2024-02-13drm/i915: Prevent HW access during init from SDVO TV get_modes hookImre Deak
Prevent accessing the HW from the SDVO/TV get_modes connector hook. 2024-02-12drm/amd/display: Fix possible buffer overflow in 'find_dcfclk_for_voltage()'Srinivasan Shanmugam
when 'find_dcfclk_for_voltage()' function is looping over VG_NUM_SOC_VOLTAGE_LEVELS (which is 8), but the size of the DcfClocks array is VG_NUM_DCFCLK_DPM_LEVELS (which is 7). When the loop variable i reaches 7, the function tries to access clock_table->DcfClocks[7]. However, since the size of the DcfClocks array is 7, the valid indices are 0 to 6. Index 7 is beyond the size of the array, leading to a buffer overflow. Reported by smatch & thus fixing the below: drivers/gpu/drm/amd/amdgpu/../display/dc/clk_mgr/dcn301/vg_clk_mgr.c:550 find_dcfclk_for_voltage() error: buffer overflow 'clock_table->DcfClocks' 7 <= 7 Fixes: 3a83e4e64bb1 ("drm/amd/display: Add dcn3.01 support to DC (v2)") Cc: Roman Li <Roman.Li@amd.com> Cc: Rodrigo Siqueira <Rodrigo.Siqueira@amd.com> Cc: Aurabindo Pillai <aurabindo.pillai@amd.com> Signed-off-by: Srinivasan Shanmugam <srinivasan.shanmugam@amd.com> Reviewed-by: Roman Li <roman.li@amd.com> Signed-off-by: Alex Deucher <alexander.deucher@amd.com>
2024-02-12drm/amd/display: Fix possible use of uninitialized 'max_chunks_fbc_mode' in ↵Srinivasan Shanmugam
'calculate_bandwidth()' 'max_chunks_fbc_mode' is only declared and assigned a value under a specific condition in the following lines: if (data->fbc_en[i] == 1) { max_chunks_fbc_mode = 128 - dmif_chunk_buff_margin; } If 'data->fbc_en[i]' is not equal to 1 for any i, max_chunks_fbc_mode will not be initialized if it's used outside of this for loop. Ensure that 'max_chunks_fbc_mode' is properly initialized before it's used. Initialize it to a default value right after its declaration to ensure that it gets a value assigned under all possible control flow paths. Thus fixing the below: drivers/gpu/drm/amd/amdgpu/../display/dc/basics/dce_calcs.c:914 calculate_bandwidth() error: uninitialized symbol 'max_chunks_fbc_mode'. drivers/gpu/drm/amd/amdgpu/../display/dc/basics/dce_calcs.c:917 calculate_bandwidth() error: uninitialized symbol 'max_chunks_fbc_mode'. However, 'wait_time_microsec' has not been assigned a value before this line, initialize 'wait_time_microsec' at the point of declaration. Fixes the below: drivers/gpu/drm/amd/amdgpu/../display/dc/link/protocols/link_dp_training_dpia.c:697 dpia_training_eq_non_transparent() error: uninitialized symbol 'wait_time_microsec'.
