2014-06-25mac80211: support more than one band in scan requestDavid Spinadel
Some drivers (such as iwlmvm) can handle multiple bands in a single HW scan request. Add a HW flag to indicate that the driver support this. To hold the required data, create a separate structure for HW scan request that holds cfg scan request and data about different parts of the scan IEs. As this changes the mac80211 API, update all drivers using it to use the correct new function type/argument. 2014-04-13iwlwifi: pcie: implement GRO without NAPIJohannes Berg
Use the new NAPI infrastructure added to mac80211 to get GRO. We don't really implement NAPI since we don't have a real poll function and we never schedule a NAPI poll. Instead of this, we collect all the packets we got from a single interrupt and then call napi_gro_flush(). This allows us to benefit from GRO. In half duplex medium like WiFi, its main advantage is that it reduces the number of TCP Acks, hence improving the TCP Rx performance. Since we call the Rx path with a spinlock held, remove the might_sleep mention from the op_mode's API. 2014-03-09iwlwifi: return whether to stop from rfkill methodJohannes Berg
When indicating RF-kill toggle to the higher layer, that may in turn call back to the transport (for MVM at least) to turn off the device quickly. Instead of that, allow it to return whether or not the device should be turned off, this gets rid of the call indirection and will help make the API more consistent when we go back to non-threaded interrupts again for PCIe. Only the first packet is currently handled correctly, but then all others are assumed to have failed which is problematic. Fix this, marking them all successful instead (since if they're not then the firmware will have transmitted them as single frames.) This fixes the lost packet reporting. 2014-02-20iwlwifi: dvm: clear IWL_STA_UCODE_INPROGRESS when assoc failsEmmanuel Grumbach
We set IWL_STA_UCODE_INPROGRESS flag when we add a station and clear it when we send the LQ command for it. But the LQ command is sent only when the association succeeds. If the association doesn't succeed, we would leave this flag set and that wouldn't indicate the station entry as vacant. This makes the code a little bit longer as zero-extension has to be done (mov vs. movzwl), but that's miniscule and the space saving is significant, about 600 bytes in DVM and 700 bytes in MVM, so the cache effect should be worth the few bytes more code. While at it, remove two spurious blank lines in variable declaration blocks. The stop_hw trans callback is not well defined. It is missing in many cleanup flows and the division of labor between stop_device/stop_hw is cumbersome. Remove stop_hw and use stop_device to perform both. Implement this for all current transports. PCIE needs some extra configuration the op-mode is leaving to configure RF kill. Expose this explicitly as a new op_mode_leave trans callback. Take the call to stop_device outside iwl_run_mvm_init_ucode, this makes more sense and WARN when we want to run the INIT firmware while it has run already. These two flags are used for the same purpose, just combine them into a no-ir flag to annotate no initiating radiation is allowed. Old userspace sending either flag will have it treated as the no-ir flag. To be considerate to older userspace we also send both the no-ir flag and the old no-ibss flags. Newer userspace will have to be aware of older kernels. 2013-10-18iwlwifi: dvm: don't override mac80211's queue settingEmmanuel Grumbach
Since we set IEEE80211_HW_QUEUE_CONTROL, we can let mac80211 do the queue assignement and don't need to override its decisions. While reassiging the same values is harmless of course, it triggered a WARNING when iwlwifi and mac80211 came to different conclusions. This happened when mac80211 set IEEE80211_TX_CTL_SEND_AFTER_DTIM, but didn't route the packet to the cab_queue because no stations were asleep. iwlwifi should not override mac80211's decicions for offchannel packets and packets to be sent after DTIM, but it should override mac80211's decision for AMPDUs since we have a special queue for them. So for AMPDU, we still override info->hw_queue by the AMPDU queue. There are a mix of function prototypes with and without extern in the kernel sources. Standardize on not using extern for function prototypes. Function prototypes don't need to be written with extern. extern is assumed by the compiler. Its use is as unnecessary as using auto to declare automatic/local variables in a block. A lot of drivers check the frame protocol for ETH_P_PAE, for various reasons (like making those more reliable). Add a new flags bitmap to the TX control info and a new flag indicating the control port protocol is in use to let all drivers also apply such logic to other control port protocols, should they be configured. 2013-07-16iwlwifi: dvm: don't send BT_CONFIG on devices w/o BluetoothJohannes Berg
The BT_CONFIG command that is sent to the device during startup will enable BT coex unless the module parameter turns it off, but on devices without Bluetooth this may cause problems, as reported in Redhat BZ 885407. Fix this by sending the BT_CONFIG command only when the device has Bluetooth.
