2020-03-19cxgb4: fix Txq restart check during backpressureRahul Lakkireddy
Driver reclaims descriptors in much smaller batches, even if hardware indicates more to reclaim, during backpressure. So, fix the check to restart the Txq during backpressure, by looking at how many descriptors hardware had indicated to reclaim, and not on how many descriptors that driver had actually reclaimed. Once the Txq is restarted, driver will reclaim even more descriptors when Tx path is entered again. 2020-03-19cxgb4: fix throughput drop during Tx backpressureRahul Lakkireddy
commit 7c3bebc3d868 ("cxgb4: request the TX CIDX updates to status page") reverted back to getting Tx CIDX updates via DMA, instead of interrupts, introduced by commit d429005fdf2c ("cxgb4/cxgb4vf: Add support for SGE doorbell queue timer") However, it missed reverting back several code changes where Tx CIDX updates are not explicitly requested during backpressure when using interrupt mode. These missed changes cause slow recovery during backpressure because the corresponding interrupt no longer comes and hence results in Tx throughput drop. So, revert back these missed code changes, as well, which will allow explicitly requesting Tx CIDX updates when backpressure happens. This enables the corresponding interrupt with Tx CIDX update message to get generated and hence speed up recovery and restore back throughput. 2020-03-19net: phy: mscc: RGMII skew delay configurationAntoine Tenart
This patch adds support for configuring the RGMII skew delays in Rx and Tx. The Rx and Tx skews are set based on the interface mode. By default their configuration is set to the default value in hardware (0.2ns); this means the driver do not rely anymore on the bootloader configuration. Then based on the interface mode being used, a 2ns delay is added: - RGMII_ID adds it for both Rx and Tx. - RGMII_RXID adds it for Rx. - RGMII_TXID adds it for Tx. 2020-03-19net: dsa: mt7530: Change the LINK bit to reflect the link statusRené van Dorst
Andrew reported: After a number of network port link up/down changes, sometimes the switch port gets stuck in a state where it thinks it is still transmitting packets but the cpu port is not actually transmitting anymore. In this state you will see a message on the console "mtk_soc_eth 1e100000.ethernet eth0: transmit timed out" and the Tx counter in ifconfig will be incrementing on virtual port, but not incrementing on cpu port. The issue is that MAC TX/RX status has no impact on the link status or queue manager of the switch. So the queue manager just queues up packets of a disabled port and sends out pause frames when the queue is full. Change the LINK bit to reflect the link status. 2020-03-19net: phy: mscc: add missing check on a phy_write return valueAntoine Tenart
Commit a5afc1678044 ("net: phy: mscc: add support for VSC8584 PHY") introduced a call to 'phy_write' storing its return value to a variable called 'ret'. But 'ret' never was checked for a possible error being returned, and hence was not used at all. Fix this by checking the return value and exiting the function if an error was returned. 2020-03-19mlxsw: pci: Only issue reset when system is readyIdo Schimmel
During initialization the driver issues a software reset command and then waits for the system status to change back to "ready" state. However, before issuing the reset command the driver does not check that the system is actually in "ready" state. On Spectrum-{1,2} systems this was always the case as the hardware initialization time is very short. On Spectrum-3 systems this is no longer the case. 2020-03-18wireguard: noise: error out precomputed DH during handshake rather than configJason A. Donenfeld
We precompute the static-static ECDH during configuration time, in order to save an expensive computation later when receiving network packets. However, not all ECDH computations yield a contributory result. Prior, we were just not letting those peers be added to the interface. However, this creates a strange inconsistency, since it was still possible to add other weird points, like a valid public key plus a low-order point, and, like points that result in zeros, a handshake would not complete. In order to make the behavior more uniform and less surprising, simply allow all peers to be added. Then, we'll error out later when doing the crypto if there's an issue. The situation in which we wind up hitting the default case here indicates a major bug in earlier parsing code. It is not a usual thing that should ever happen, which means a "friendly" message for it doesn't make sense. Rather, replace this with a WARN_ON, just like we do earlier in the file for a similar situation, so that somebody sends us a bug report and we can fix it. We carry out checks to the effect of: if (skb->protocol != wg_examine_packet_protocol(skb)) goto err; By having wg_skb_examine_untrusted_ip_hdr return 0 on failure, this means that the check above still passes in the case where skb->protocol is zero, which is possible to hit with AF_PACKET: struct sockaddr_pkt saddr = { .spkt_device = "wg0" }; unsigned char buffer[5] = { 0 }; sendto(socket(AF_PACKET, SOCK_PACKET, /* skb->protocol = */ 0), buffer, sizeof(buffer), 0, (const struct sockaddr *)&saddr, sizeof(saddr)); Additional checks mean that this isn't actually a problem in the code base, but I could imagine it becoming a problem later if the function is used more liberally. I would prefer to fix this by having wg_examine_packet_protocol return a 32-bit ~0 value on failure, which will never match any value of skb->protocol, which would simply change the generated code from a mov to a movzx. However, sparse complains, and adding __force casts doesn't seem like a good idea, so instead we just add a simple helper function to check for the zero return value. Since wg_examine_packet_protocol itself gets inlined, this winds up not adding an additional branch to the generated code, since the 0 return value already happens in a mergable branch. At least some integrated PHY's in RTL8168/RTL8125 chip versions support downshift, and the actual link speed can be read from a vendor-specific register. Info about this register was provided by Realtek. More details about downshift configuration (e.g. number of attempts) aren't available, therefore the downshift tunable is not implemented. 2020-03-18cxgb4: rework TC filter rule insertion across regionsRahul Lakkireddy
Chelsio NICs have 3 filter regions, in following order of priority: 1. High Priority (HPFILTER) region (Highest Priority). 2. HASH region. 3. Normal FILTER region (Lowest Priority). Currently, there's a 1-to-1 mapping between the prio value passed by TC and the filter region index. However, it's possible to have multiple TC rules with the same prio value. In this case, if a region is exhausted, no attempt is made to try inserting the rule in the next available region. So, rework and remove the 1-to-1 mapping. Instead, dynamically select the region to insert the filter rule, as long as the new rule's prio value doesn't conflict with existing rules across all the 3 regions. 2020-03-18ath11k: Perform per-msdu rx processingSriram R
As Hash based reo destination selection is configured, the decapped packets reach different reo destintion rings based on the destintaion ring selected for the computed hash (based on the 5-tuple {ip src/ip dst/src port/dst port/protocol}) by hw and as configured by driver. Hence the current implementation of amsdu list based processing after all the subframes of amsdu are received (since all msdu's for a pdev are received in same reo dest ring), is not applicable here and hence is replaced with per msdu based handling as these subframes can be received in different reo dest rings. Also, as some of the rx descriptor fields might be valid only for the first msdu (for ex. received 80211 header, encryption type, etc), it might not be useful now as we cannot sync between different subframes received in different rings. Hence do not rely on those fields and replace them with fieds valid only on per msdu descriptors. Also cache other details such as encryption type for a peer so that it can be reused when a packet is received from it. Current implementation of pdev based reo destination ring selection is replaced by hash based ring selection so as to ensure all the available rings are utilized for better performance. The 4 reo destination rings are selected by the HW based on the hash value computed from the received packet based on the 5 tuple {ip src/ip dst/src port/dst port/protocol}. Out of the 32 hash values used by the hw, the driver assigns 8 values per reo destination ring to each of the 4 reo destination rings. 2020-03-18ath11k: Adding proper validation before accessing tx_statsPravas Kumar Panda
Before dumping tx_stats proper validation was not been taken care of. Due to which we were encountering null pointer dereference(kernel panic). This scenario will arise when a station is getting disconnected and we are changing the STA state by ath11k_mac_op_sta_state and assigning tx_stats as NULL and after this the mac80211 will destroy the debugfs entry from where we are trying to read the stats. If anyone tries to dump tx_stats for that STA in between setting tx_stats to NULL and debugfs file removal without checking the NULL value it will run into a NULL pointer exception. Proceeding with the analysis of "ARM Kernel Panic". The APSS crash happened due to OOPS on CPU 3. Crash Signature : Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 00000360 During the crash, PC points to "ath11k_debug_htt_stats_init+0x16ac/0x1acc [ath11k]" LR points to "ath11k_debug_htt_stats_init+0x1688/0x1acc [ath11k]".
