2021-11-15ath11k: avoid unnecessary lock contention in tx_completion pathP Praneesh
Avoid unnecessary idr_find calls before the idr_remove calls. Because idr_remove gives the valid ptr if id is valid otherwise return NULL ptr. So removed the idr_find before idr_remove in tx completion path. Also no need to disable the bottom half preempt if it is already in the bottom half context, so modify the spin_lock_bh to spin_lock in the data tx completion path. 2021-11-15ath11k: add branch predictors in dp_tx pathP Praneesh
Add branch prediction in dp_tx code path in tx and tx completion handlers. Also in ath11k_dp_tx_complete_msdu , the pointer that is returned by rcu_dereference() is not dereferenced. so it is preferable to use rcu_access_pointer() here. 2021-11-15ath11k: avoid while loop in ring selection of tx completion interruptP Praneesh
Currently while loop is used to find the tx completion ring number and it is not required since the tx ring mask and the group id can be combined to directly fetch the ring number. Hence remove the while loop and directly get the ring number from tx mask and group id. 2021-11-15ath11k: add branch predictors in process_rxP Praneesh
In datapath, add branch predictors where required in the process rx(). This protects high value rx path without having performance overhead. Also while processing rx packets, the pointer that is returned by rcu_dereference() is not dereferenced. so it is preferable to use rcu_access_pointer() here. 2021-11-15ath11k: remove usage quota while processing rx packetsP Praneesh
The usage of quota variable inside ath11k_dp_rx_process_received_packets() is redundant. Since we would queue only max packets to the list before calling this function so it would never exceed quota. Hence removing usage of quota variable. 2021-11-15ath11k: avoid active pdev check for each msduP Praneesh
The Active Pdev and CAC check are done for each msdu in ath11k_dp_rx_process_received_packets which is a overhead. To avoid this overhead, collect all msdus in a per mac msdu list and pass to function. 2021-11-15ath11k: avoid additional access to ath11k_hal_srng_dst_num_freeP Praneesh
In ath11k_dp_process_rx(), after processing rx_desc from ath11k_hal_srng_dst_get_next_entry(), ath11k_hal_srng_dst_num_free() is accessed everytime because of done flag is not set. 2021-11-15ath11k: allocate dst ring descriptors from cacheable memoryP Praneesh
tcl_data and reo_dst rings are currently being allocated using dma_allocate_coherent() which is non cacheable. Allocating ring memory from cacheable memory area allows cached descriptor access and prefetch next descriptors to optimize CPU usage during descriptor processing on NAPI. Based on the hardware param we can enable or disable this feature for the corresponding platform. 2021-11-15ath11k: fix firmware crash during channel switchVenkateswara Naralasetty
Currently the updated bandwidth for the peer will be configured to the firmware after channel switch from the sta_rc_update_wk. If the updated bandwidth is greater than the configured peer phymode during the peer assoc may result firmware assert. For example, initially AP is in HE40 mode and the peer phymode is configured as MODE_11AX_HE40 during peer assoc. Now user change the channel width to HE80 then, the peer bandwidth will be updated as HE80 to the firmware. This will trigger firmware assert due to peer bandwidth is greater than the peer phymode. Fix this issue by sending peer assoc command before setting the updated peer bandwith to firmware. 2021-11-15ath11k: fix DMA memory free in CE pipe cleanupKarthikeyan Periyasamy
In CE pipe cleanup, DMA memory gets freed by the aligned address (base_addr_owner_space) which is wrong. It needs to be freed by the address (base_addr_owner_space_unaligned) returned by dma_alloc. So free the dma memory by the proper address. This was found in code review. 2021-11-15ath11k: avoid unnecessary BH disable lock in STA kickout eventKarthikeyan Periyasamy
In STA kickout event processing, the peer object is protected under spin lock BH. Release this lock after picking up the vdev_id from the peer object instead after ieee80211_report_low_ack(). This will minimize the lock hold period which will improve performance since base_lock is used across the data path. This was found in code review. 2021-11-15ath11k: fix error routine when fallback of add interface failsKarthikeyan Periyasamy
When there is an error in add interface process from ath11k_mac_set_kickout(), the code attempts to handle a fallback for add_interface. When this fallback succeeds, the driver returns zero rather than error code. This leads to success for the non created VAP. In cleanup, driver gets remove interface callback for the non created VAP and proceeds to self peer delete request which leads to FW assert. Since it was already deleted on the fallback of add interface, return the actual error code instead of fallback return code. 2021-11-15ath11k: fix fw crash due to peer get authorized before key installKarthikeyan Periyasamy
Firmware expects host to authorize the peer after the successful key install. But host authorize the peer before the key install, this trigger the firmware assert which leads to Q6 crash. To avoid this Q6 crash, host should authorize the peer after the key install. So introduce is_authorized in peer object to identify that peer is authorize or not. When IEEE80211_STA_CONTROL_PORT flag is unset, peer move to authorize state before the vdev up. When the same flag is set then peer move to authorize state after vdev up. So added authorise check in ath11k_bss_assoc() to handle the earlier state transition case. Also added the WMI authorize procedure in ath11k_mac_op_sta_state() to handle the non-earlier state transition case. 2021-11-12hamradio: remove needs_free_netdev to avoid UAFLin Ma
The former patch "defer 6pack kfree after unregister_netdev" reorders the kfree of two buffer after the unregister_netdev to prevent the race condition. It also adds free_netdev() function in sixpack_close(), which is a direct copy from the similar code in mkiss_close(). However, in sixpack driver, the flag needs_free_netdev is set to true in sp_setup(), hence the unregister_netdev() will free the netdev automatically. Therefore, as the sp is netdev_priv, use-after-free occurs. This patch removes the needs_free_netdev = true and just let the free_netdev to finish this deallocation task. 2021-11-12ath11k: Clear auth flag only for actual association in security modeRameshkumar Sundaram
AUTH flag is needed when peer assoc command is sent from host in security mode for non-assoc cases. Firmware will handle AUTH flag when client is associating as AUTH flag will be set after key exchange. 2021-11-12ath11k: Send PPDU_STATS_CFG with proper pdev mask to firmwareRameshkumar Sundaram
HTT_PPDU_STATS_CFG_PDEV_ID bit mask for target FW PPDU stats request message was set as bit 8 to 15. Bit 8 is reserved for soc stats and pdev id starts from bit 9. Hence change the bitmask as bit 9 to 15 and fill the proper pdev id in the request message. In commit 701e48a43e15 ("ath11k: add packet log support for QCA6390"), both HTT_PPDU_STATS_CFG_PDEV_ID and pdev_mask were changed, but this pdev_mask calculation is not valid for platforms which has multiple pdevs with 1 rxdma per pdev, as this is writing same value(i.e. 2) for all pdevs. Hence fixed it to consider pdev_idx as well, to make it compatible for both single and multi pd cases. 2021-11-10net: marvell: mvpp2: Fix wrong SerDes reconfiguration orderMarek Behún
Commit bfe301ebbc94 ("net: mvpp2: convert to use mac_prepare()/mac_finish()") introduced a bug wherein it leaves the MAC RESET register asserted after mac_finish(), due to wrong order of function calls. Before it was: .mac_config() mvpp22_mode_reconfigure() assert reset mvpp2_xlg_config() deassert reset Now it is: .mac_prepare() .mac_config() mvpp2_xlg_config() deassert reset .mac_finish() mvpp2_xlg_config() assert reset Obviously this is wrong. This bug is triggered when phylink tries to change the PHY interface mode from a GMAC mode (sgmii, 1000base-x, 2500base-x) to XLG mode (10gbase-r, xaui). The XLG mode does not work since reset is left asserted. Only after ifconfig down && ifconfig up is called will the XLG mode work. Move the call to mvpp22_mode_reconfigure() to .mac_prepare() implementation. Since some of the subsequent functions need to know whether the interface is being changed, we unfortunately also need to pass around the new interface mode before setting port->phy_interface. 2021-11-10net: hns3: sync rx ring head in echo common pullYufeng Mo
When the driver processes rx packets, the head pointer is updated only after the number of received packets reaches 16. However, hardware relies on the head pointer to calculate the number of FBDs. As a result, the hardware calculates the FBD incorrectly. Therefore, the driver proactively updates the head pointer in each common poll to ensure that the number of FBDs calculated by the hardware is correct. 2021-11-10net: hns3: fix pfc packet number incorrect after querying pfc parametersJie Wang
Currently, driver will send command to firmware to query pfc packet number when user uses dcb tool to get pfc parameters. However, the periodic service task will also periodically query and record MAC statistics, including pfc packet number. As the hardware registers of statistics is cleared after reading, it will cause pfc packet number of MAC statistics are not correct after using dcb tool to get pfc parameters. To fix this problem, when user uses dcb tool to get pfc parameters, driver updates MAC statistics firstly and then get pfc packet number from MAC statistics. So fixes it by assign relative interrupt vector to ROCE instead of MSIX interrupt vector and delete the unused struct member base_msi_vector declaration of hclgevf_dev. 2021-11-10net: hns3: fix failed to add reuse multicast mac addr to hardware when mc ↵Guangbin Huang
mac table is full Currently, when driver is failed to add a new multicast mac address to hardware due to the multicast mac table is full, it will directly return. In this case, if the multicast mac list has some reuse addresses after the new address, those reuse addresses will never be added to hardware. To fix this problem, if function hclge_add_mc_addr_common() returns -ENOSPC, hclge_sync_vport_mac_list() should judge whether continue or stop to add next address. As function hclge_sync_vport_mac_list() needs parameter mac_type to know whether is uc or mc, refine this function to add parameter mac_type and remove parameter sync. So does function hclge_unsync_vport_mac_list(). Fixes: ee4bcd3b7ae4 ("net: hns3: refactor the MAC address configure") Signed-off-by: Guangbin Huang <huangguangbin2@huawei.com> Signed-off-by: David S. 2021-11-09amt: use cancel_delayed_work() instead of flush_delayed_work() in amt_fini()Taehee Yoo
When the amt module is being removed, it calls flush_delayed_work() to exit source_gc_wq. But it wouldn't be exited properly because the amt_source_gc_work(), which is the callback function of source_gc_wq internally calls mod_delayed_work() again. So, amt_source_gc_work() would be called after the amt module is removed. Therefore kernel panic would occur. In order to avoid it, cancel_delayed_work() should be used instead of flush_delayed_work(). 2021-11-09hamradio: defer 6pack kfree after unregister_netdevLin Ma
There is a possible race condition (use-after-free) like below (USE) | (FREE) dev_queue_xmit | __dev_queue_xmit | __dev_xmit_skb | sch_direct_xmit | ... xmit_one | netdev_start_xmit | tty_ldisc_kill __netdev_start_xmit | 6pack_close sp_xmit | kfree sp_encaps | | According to the patch "defer ax25 kfree after unregister_netdev", this patch reorder the kfree after the unregister_netdev to avoid the possible UAF as the unregister_netdev() is well synchronized and won't return if there is a running routine. 2021-11-09hamradio: defer ax25 kfree after unregister_netdevLin Ma
There is a possible race condition (use-after-free) like below (USE) | (FREE) ax25_sendmsg | ax25_queue_xmit | dev_queue_xmit | __dev_queue_xmit | __dev_xmit_skb | sch_direct_xmit | ... xmit_one | netdev_start_xmit | tty_ldisc_kill __netdev_start_xmit | mkiss_close ax_xmit | kfree ax_encaps | | Even though there are two synchronization primitives before the kfree: 1. wait_for_completion(&ax->dead). This can prevent the race with routines from mkiss_ioctl. However, it cannot stop the routine coming from upper layer, i.e., the ax25_sendmsg. 2. netif_stop_queue(ax->dev). It seems that this line of code aims to halt the transmit queue but it fails to stop the routine that already being xmit. This patch reorder the kfree after the unregister_netdev to avoid the possible UAF as the unregister_netdev() is well synchronized and won't return if there is a running routine.
