2021-10-21net: ax88796c: ASIX AX88796C SPI Ethernet Adapter DriverŁukasz Stelmach
ASIX AX88796[1] is a versatile ethernet adapter chip, that can be connected to a CPU with a 8/16-bit bus or with an SPI. This driver supports SPI connection. The driver has been ported from the vendor kernel for ARTIK5[2] boards. Several changes were made to adapt it to the current kernel which include: + updated DT configuration, + clock configuration moved to DT, + new timer, ethtool and gpio APIs, + dev_* instead of pr_* and custom printk() wrappers, + removed awkward vendor power managemtn. + introduced ethtool tunable to control SPI compression [1] https://www.asix.com.tw/products.php?op=pItemdetail&PItemID=104;65;86&PLine=65 [2] https://git.tizen.org/cgit/profile/common/platform/kernel/linux-3.10-artik/ The other ax88796 driver is for NE2000 compatible AX88796L chip. 2021-10-22fsi: sbefifo: Use interruptible mutex lockingEddie James
Some SBE operations have extremely large responses and can require several minutes to process the response. During this time, the device lock must be held. If another process attempts an operation, it will wait for the mutex for longer than the kernel hung task watchdog allows. Therefore, use the interruptible function to lock the mutex. 2021-10-22fsi: occ: Store the SBEFIFO FFDC in the user response bufferEddie James
If the SBEFIFO response indicates an error, store the response in the user buffer and return an error. Previously, the user had no way of obtaining the SBEFIFO FFDC. The user's buffer now contains data in the event of a failure. No change in the event of a successful transfer. 2021-10-22fsi: occ: Use a large buffer for responsesEddie James
Allocate a large buffer for each OCC to handle response data. This removes memory allocation during an operation, and also allows for the maximum amount of SBE FFDC. Previously for the putsram and attn commands, only 32 words would have been available, and for getsram, only up to the size of the transfer. SBE FFDC might be up to 8Kb. The SBE interface expects data to be specified in units of words (4 bytes), defined as OCC_MAX_RESP_WORDS. This change allows the full FFDC capture to be implemented, where before it was not available. 2021-10-21net: enetc: use the skb variable directly in enetc_clean_tx_ring()Vladimir Oltean
The code checks whether the skb had one-step TX timestamping enabled, in order to schedule the work item for emptying the priv->tx_skbs queue. That code checks for "tx_swbd->skb" directly, when we already had a skb retrieved using enetc_tx_swbd_get_skb(tx_swbd) - a TX software BD can also hold an XDP_TX packet or an XDP frame. But since the direct tx_swbd dereference is in an "if" block guarded by the non-NULL quality of "skb", accessing "tx_swbd->skb" directly is not wrong, just confusing. Just use the local variable named "skb". Signed-off-by: Vladimir Oltean <vladimir.oltean@nxp.com> Reviewed-by: Claudiu Manoil <claudiu.manoil@nxp.com> Signed-off-by: Jakub Kicinski <kuba@kernel.org>

The "priv" variable is needed in the "check_writeback" scope since commit d39823121911 ("enetc: add hardware timestamping support"). Since commit 7294380c5211 ("enetc: support PTP Sync packet one-step timestamping"), we also need "priv" in the larger function scope. 2021-10-21auxdisplay: Extract character line display core supportGeert Uytterhoeven
Extract the character line display core support from the simple ASCII LCD driver for the MIPS Boston, Malta & SEAD3 development boards into its own subdriver, so it can be reused for other displays. As this moves the "message" device attribute in sysfs in a "linedisp.N" subdirectory, a symlink is added to preserve backwards compatibility. 2021-10-21auxdisplay: img-ascii-lcd: Convert device attribute to sysfs_emit()Geert Uytterhoeven
Convert the "message" device attribute from sprintf() to sysfs_emit(), as the latter is aware of the PAGE_SIZE buffer. Signed-off-by: Geert Uytterhoeven <geert@linux-m68k.org> Signed-off-by: Miguel Ojeda <ojeda@kernel.org>
2021-10-21auxdisplay: img-ascii-lcd: Add helper variable devGeert Uytterhoeven
img_ascii_lcd_probe() has many users of "pdev->dev". Add a shorthand to simplify the code. Signed-off-by: Geert Uytterhoeven <geert@linux-m68k.org> Signed-off-by: Miguel Ojeda <ojeda@kernel.org>
2021-10-21auxdisplay: img-ascii-lcd: Fix lock-up when displaying empty stringGeert Uytterhoeven
While writing an empty string to a device attribute is a no-op, and thus does not need explicit safeguards, the user can still write a single newline to an attribute file: echo > .../message If that happens, img_ascii_lcd_display() trims the newline, yielding an empty string, and causing an infinite loop in img_ascii_lcd_scroll(). Fix this by adding a check for empty strings. Clear the display in case one is encountered. 2021-10-21hwmon: (dell-smm) Speed up setting of fan speedArmin Wolf
When setting the fan speed, i8k_set_fan() calls i8k_get_fan_status(), causing an unnecessary SMM call since from the two users of this function, only i8k_ioctl_unlocked() needs to know the new fan status while dell_smm_write() ignores the new fan status. Since SMM calls can be very slow while also making error reporting difficult for dell_smm_write(), remove the function call from i8k_set_fan() and call it separately in i8k_ioctl_unlocked(). Tested on a Dell Inspiron 3505.
