hrtimer_setup() takes the callback function pointer as argument and initializes the timer completely. This new function replaces hrtimer_init(). However, converting this driver is not obvious: the driver calls hrtimer_init() in rt2x00dev.c, then set the hrtimer's callback function in rt2800mmio.c and rt2800usb.c. Therefore, switching to the new function is not a simple one-for-one replacement. With the lack of hardware to verify any non-trivial changes, keep it simple and calls hrtimer_setup() with hrtimer_dummy_timeout() as callback function pointer. 2025-02-18irqchip/riscv-imsic: Set irq_set_affinity() for IMSIC baseAndrew Jones
The IMSIC driver assigns the IMSIC domain specific imsic_irq_set_affinity() callback to the per device leaf MSI domain. That's a layering violation as it is called with the leaf domain data and not with the IMSIC domain data. This prevents moving the IMSIC driver to the common MSI library which uses the generic msi_domain_set_affinity() callback for device MSI domains. Instead of using imsic_irq_set_affinity() for leaf MSI domains, use imsic_irq_set_affinity() for the non-leaf IMSIC base domain and use irq_chip_set_affinity_parent() for leaf MSI domains. 2025-02-18media: platform: rpi1-cfe: drop vb2_ops_wait_prepare/finishHans Verkuil
Since commit 88785982a19d ("media: vb2: use lock if wait_prepare/finish are NULL") it is no longer needed to set the wait_prepare/finish vb2_ops callbacks as long as the lock field in vb2_queue is set. Since the vb2_ops_wait_prepare/finish callbacks already rely on that field, we can safely drop these callbacks. This simplifies the code and this is a step towards the goal of deleting these callbacks. 2025-02-17s390/ism: add release function for struct deviceJulian Ruess
According to device_release() in /drivers/base/core.c, a device without a release function is a broken device and must be fixed. The current code directly frees the device after calling device_add() without waiting for other kernel parts to release their references. Thus, a reference could still be held to a struct device, e.g., by sysfs, leading to potential use-after-free issues if a proper release function is not set. 2025-02-17irqchip/jcore-aic, clocksource/drivers/jcore: Fix jcore-pit interrupt requestArtur Rojek
The jcore-aic irqchip does not have separate interrupt numbers reserved for cpu-local vs global interrupts. Therefore the device drivers need to request the given interrupt as per CPU interrupt. 69a9dcbd2d65 ("clocksource/drivers/jcore: Use request_percpu_irq()") converted the clocksource driver over to request_percpu_irq(), but failed to do add all the required changes, resulting in a failure to register PIT interrupts. Fix this by: 1) Explicitly mark the interrupt via irq_set_percpu_devid() in jcore_pit_init(). 2) Enable and disable the per CPU interrupt in the CPU hotplug callbacks. 3) Pass the correct per-cpu cookie to the irq handler by using handle_percpu_devid_irq() instead of handle_percpu_irq() in handle_jcore_irq(). 2025-02-17irqchip/gic-v3: Fix rk3399 workaround when secure interrupts are enabledMarc Zyngier
Christoph reports that their rk3399 system dies since commit 773c05f417fa1 ("irqchip/gic-v3: Work around insecure GIC integrations"). It appears that some rk3399 have secure payloads, and that the firmware sets SCR_EL3.FIQ==1. Obivously, disabling security in that configuration leads to even more problems. Revisit the workaround by: - making it rk3399 specific - checking whether Group-0 is available, which is a good proxy for SCR_EL3.FIQ being 0 - either apply the workaround if Group-0 is available, or disable pseudo-NMIs if not Note that this doesn't mean that the secure side is able to receive interrupts, as all interrupts are made non-secure anyway. Clearly, nobody ever tested secure interrupts on this platform. 2025-02-17cpufreq: Introduce an optional cpuinfo_avg_freq sysfs entryBeata Michalska
Currently the CPUFreq core exposes two sysfs attributes that can be used to query current frequency of a given CPU(s): namely cpuinfo_cur_freq and scaling_cur_freq. Both provide slightly different view on the subject and they do come with their own drawbacks. cpuinfo_cur_freq provides higher precision though at a cost of being rather expensive. Moreover, the information retrieved via this attribute is somewhat short lived as frequency can change at any point of time making it difficult to reason from. scaling_cur_freq, on the other hand, tends to be less accurate but then the actual level of precision (and source of information) varies between architectures making it a bit ambiguous. The new attribute, cpuinfo_avg_freq, is intended to provide more stable, distinct interface, exposing an average frequency of a given CPU(s), as reported by the hardware, over a time frame spanning no more than a few milliseconds. As it requires appropriate hardware support, this interface is optional. Note that under the hood, the new attribute relies on the information provided by arch_freq_get_on_cpu, which, up to this point, has been feeding data for scaling_cur_freq attribute, being the source of ambiguity when it comes to interpretation. This has been amended by restoring the intended behavior for scaling_cur_freq, with a new dedicated config option to maintain status quo for those, who may need it. 2025-02-17arch_topology: init capacity_freq_ref to 0Ionela Voinescu
It's useful to have capacity_freq_ref initialized to 0 for users of arch_scale_freq_ref() to detect when capacity_freq_ref was not yet set. The only scenario affected by this change in the init value is when a cpufreq driver is never loaded. As a result, the only setter of a cpu scale factor remains the call of topology_normalize_cpu_scale() from parse_dt_topology(). There we cannot use the value 0 of capacity_freq_ref so we have to compensate for its uninitialized state. 2025-02-17drm/i915: Make sure all planes in use by the joiner have their crtc includedVille Syrjälä
Any active plane needs to have its crtc included in the atomic state. For planes enabled via uapi that is all handler in the core. But when we use a plane for joiner the uapi code things the plane is disabled and therefore doesn't have a crtc. So we need to pull those in by hand. We do it first thing in intel_joiner_add_affected_crtcs() so that any newly added crtc will subsequently pull in all of its joined crtcs as well. The symptoms from failing to do this are: - duct tape in the form of commit 1d5b09f8daf8 ("drm/i915: Fix NULL ptr deref by checking new_crtc_state") - the plane's hw state will get overwritten by the disabled uapi state if it can't find the uapi counterpart plane in the atomic state from where it should copy the correct state Cc: stable@vger.kernel.org Reviewed-by: Maarten Lankhorst <maarten.lankhorst@linux.intel.com> Signed-off-by: Ville Syrjälä <ville.syrjala@linux.intel.com> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20250212164330.16891-2-ville.syrjala@linux.intel.com (cherry picked from commit 91077d1deb5374eb8be00fb391710f00e751dc4b) Signed-off-by: Rodrigo Vivi <rodrigo.vivi@intel.com>
