2014-11-28gpio: remove const modifier from gpiod_get_direction()Alexandre Courbot
Although gpiod_get_direction() can be considered side-effect free for consumers, its internals involve setting or clearing bits in the affected GPIO descriptor, for which we need to force-cast the const descriptor variable to non-const. This could lead to incorrect behavior if the compiler decides to optimize here, so remove this const attribute. The intent is to make gpiod_get_direction() private anyway, so it does not really matter. 2014-11-28gpio: remove gpio_descs global arrayAlexandre Courbot
Replace the ARCH_NR_GPIOS-sized static array of GPIO descriptors by dynamically-allocated arrays for each GPIO chip. This change makes gpio_to_desc() perform in O(n) (where n is the number of GPIO chips registered) instead of O(1), however since n is rarely bigger than 1 or 2 no noticeable performance issue is expected. Besides this provides more incentive for GPIO consumers to move to the gpiod interface. One could use a O(log(n)) structure to link the GPIO chips together, but considering the low limit of n the hypothetical performance benefit is probably not worth the added complexity. This patch uses kcalloc() in gpiochip_add(), which removes the ability to add a chip before kcalloc() can operate. I am not aware of such cases, but if someone bisects up to this patch then I will be proven wrong... 2014-11-28clk: rockchip: Add support for the mmc clock phases using the frameworkAlexandru M Stan
This patch adds the 2 physical clocks for the mmc (drive and sample). They're mostly there for the phase properties, but they also show the true clock (by dividing by RK3288_MMC_CLKGEN_DIV). The drive and sample phases are generated by dividing an upstream parent clock by 2, this allows us to adjust the phase by 90 deg. There's also an option to have up to 255 delay elements (40-80 picoseconds long). This driver uses those elements (under the assumption that they're 60 ps long) to generate approximate 22.5 degrees options. 67.5 (22.5*3) might be as high as 90 deg if the delay elements are as big as 80 ps, so a finer division (smaller than 22.5) was not picked because the phase might not be monotonic anymore. 2014-11-27drm/atomic: clear plane's CRTC and FB when shutting downRob Clark
Otherwise we'd still end up w/ the plane attached to the CRTC, and seemingly active, but without an FB. Which ends up going *boom* in the drivers. Slightly modified version of Daniel's irc suggestion. Note that the big problem isn't drivers going *boom* here (since we already have the situation of planes being left enabled when the crtc goes down). The real issue is that the core assumes the primary plane always goes down when calling ->set_config with a NULL mode. Ignoring that assumption leads to the legacy state pointers plane->fb/crtc getting out of sync with atomic, and that then leads to the subsequent *boom* all over the place. CC: Daniel Vetter <daniel@ffwll.ch> Signed-off-by: Rob Clark <robdclark@gmail.com> [danvet: Drop my opinion of what's going sidewides here into the commit message as a note.] Signed-off-by: Daniel Vetter <daniel.vetter@ffwll.ch>
2014-11-27drm: Handle atomic state properly in kms getfoo ioctlDaniel Vetter
So the problem with async commit (especially async modeset commit) is that the legacy pointers only get updated after the point of no return, in the async part of the modeset sequence. At least as implemented by the current helper functions. This is done in the set_routing_links function in drm_atomic_helper.c. Which also means that access isn't protected by locks but only coordinated by synchronizing with async workers. No problem thus far, until we lock at the getconnector/encoder ioctls. So fix this up by adding special cases for atomic drivers: For those we need to look at state objects. Unfortunately digging out the correct encoder->crtc link is a bit of work, so wrap this up in a helper function. Moving the assignments of connector->encoder and encoder->crtc earlier isn't a good idea because the point of the atomic helpers is that we stage the state updates. That way the disable functions can still inspect the links and rely upon them. v2: Extract full encoder->crtc lookup into helper (Rob). v3: Extract drm_connector_get_encoder too since - we need to always return state->best_encoder when there is a state otherwise we might return stale data if there's a pending async disable (and chase unlocked pointers, too). Same issue with encoder_get_crtc but there it's a bit more tricky to handle. 2014-11-27drm/atomic: track bitmask of planes attached to crtcRob Clark
Chasing plane->state->crtc of planes that are *not* part of the same atomic update is racy, making it incredibly awkward (or impossible) to do something simple like iterate over all planes and figure out which ones are attached to a crtc. Solve this by adding a bitmask of currently attached planes in the crtc-state. Note that the transitional helpers do not maintain the plane_mask. But they only support the legacy ioctls, which have sufficient brute-force locking around plane updates that they can continue to loop over all planes to see what is attached to a crtc the old way. Signed-off-by: Rob Clark <robdclark@gmail.com> [danvet: - Drop comments about locking in set_crtc_for_plane since they're a bit misleading - we already should hold lock for the current crtc. - Also WARN_ON if get_state on the old crtc fails since that should have been done already. - Squash in fixup to check get_plane_state return value, reported by Dan Carpenter and acked by Rob Clark.] Signed-off-by: Daniel Vetter <daniel.vetter@ffwll.ch>

2014-11-27gpiolib: allow simultaneous setting of multiple GPIO outputsRojhalat Ibrahim
Introduce new functions gpiod_set_array & gpiod_set_raw_array to the consumer interface which allow setting multiple outputs with just one function call. Also add an optional set_multiple function to the driver interface. Without an implementation of that function in the chip driver outputs are set sequentially. Implementing the set_multiple function in a chip driver allows for: - Improved performance for certain use cases. The original motivation for this was the task of configuring an FPGA. In that specific case, where 9 GPIO lines have to be set many times, configuration time goes down from 48 s to 20 s when using the new function. - Simultaneous glitch-free setting of multiple pins on any kind of parallel bus attached to GPIOs provided they all reside on the same chip and bank. Limitations: Performance is only improved for normal high-low outputs. Open drain and open source outputs are always set separately from each other. Those kinds of outputs could probably be accelerated in a similar way if we could forgo the error checking when setting GPIO directions. Change log: v6: - rebase on current linux-gpio devel branch v5: - check can_sleep property per chip - remove superfluous checks - supplement documentation v4: - add gpiod_set_array function for setting logical values - change interface of the set_multiple driver function to use unsigned long as type for the bit fields - use generic bitops (which also use unsigned long for bit fields) - do not use ARCH_NR_GPIOS any more v3: - add documentation - change commit message v2: - use descriptor interface - allow arbitrary groups of GPIOs spanning multiple chips Signed-off-by: Rojhalat Ibrahim <imr@rtschenk.de> Reviewed-by: Alexandre Courbot <acourbot@nvidia.com> Reviewed-by: Mark Brown <broonie@linaro.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Walleij <linus.walleij@linaro.org>
2014-11-27HID: wacom: Consult the application usage when determining field typeJason Gerecke
It is not necessarily sufficient to look only at the physical and logical usages when determining if a field is for the pen or touch. Some fields are not contained in a sub-collection and thus only have an application usage. Not checking the application usage in such cases causes us to ignore the field entirely, which may lead to incorrect behavior.
