2024-01-03thermal: intel: hfi: Disable an HFI instance when all its CPUs go offlineRicardo Neri
In preparation to support hibernation, add functionality to disable an HFI instance during CPU offline. The last CPU of an instance that goes offline will disable such instance. The Intel Software Development Manual states that the operating system must wait for the hardware to set MSR_IA32_PACKAGE_THERM_STATUS[26] after disabling an HFI instance to ensure that it will no longer write on the HFI memory. Some processors, however, do not ever set such bit. Wait a minimum of 2ms to give time hardware to complete any pending memory writes. 2024-01-03thermal: intel: hfi: Enable an HFI instance from its first online CPURicardo Neri
Previously, HFI instances were never disabled once enabled. A CPU in an instance only had to check during boot whether another CPU had previously initialized the instance and its corresponding data structure. A subsequent changeset will add functionality to disable instances to support hibernation. Such change will also make possible to disable an HFI instance during runtime via CPU hotplug. Enable an HFI instance from the first of its CPUs that comes online. This covers the boot, CPU hotplug, and resume-from-suspend cases. 2024-01-03nubus: Make nubus_bus_type static and constantGreg Kroah-Hartman
Now that the driver core can properly handle constant struct bus_type, move the nubus_bus_type variable to be a constant structure as well, placing it into read-only memory which can not be modified at runtime. It's also never used outside of drivers/nubus/bus.c so make it static and don't export it as no one is using it. 2024-01-03mmc: core: Do not force a retune before RPMB switchJorge Ramirez-Ortiz
Requesting a retune before switching to the RPMB partition has been observed to cause CRC errors on the RPMB reads (-EILSEQ). Since RPMB reads can not be retried, the clients would be directly affected by the errors. This commit disables the retune request prior to switching to the RPMB partition: mmc_retune_pause() no longer triggers a retune before the pause period begins. This was verified with the sdhci-of-arasan driver (ZynqMP) configured for HS200 using two separate eMMC cards (DG4064 and 064GB2). In both cases, the error was easy to reproduce triggering every few tenths of reads. With this commit, systems that were utilizing OP-TEE to access RPMB variables will experience an enhanced performance. Specifically, when OP-TEE is configured to employ RPMB as a secure storage solution, it not only writes the data but also the secure filesystem within the partition. As a result, retrieving any variable involves multiple RPMB reads, typically around five. For context, on ZynqMP, each retune request consumed approximately 8ms. Consequently, reading any RPMB variable used to take at the very minimum 40ms. After droping the need to retune before switching to the RPMB partition, this is no longer the case. It is reported that in low-memory situations the system-wide resume core code deadlocks, because async_schedule_dev() executes its argument function synchronously if it cannot allocate memory (and not only in that case) and that function attempts to acquire a mutex that is already held. Executing the argument function synchronously from within dpm_async_fn() may also be problematic for ordering reasons (it may cause a consumer device's resume callback to be invoked before a requisite supplier device's one, for example). Address this by changing the code in question to use async_schedule_dev_nocall() for scheduling the asynchronous execution of device suspend and resume functions and to directly run them synchronously if async_schedule_dev_nocall() returns false. 2024-01-03gpio: nuvoton: Add Nuvoton NPCM sgpio driverJim Liu
Add Nuvoton BMC NPCM7xx/NPCM8xx sgpio driver support. Nuvoton NPCM SGPIO module is combine serial to parallel IC (HC595) and parallel to serial IC (HC165), and use APB3 clock to control it. This interface has 4 pins (D_out , D_in, S_CLK, LDSH). BMC can use this driver to increase 64 GPI pins and 64 GPO pins to use. In order to solve this problem, configure the bit corresponding to the EIC through offset. The flag DMA_TX_APPEND_CRC was only written to the first DMA descriptor in the TX path, where each descriptor corresponds to a single skbuff fragment (or the skbuff head). This led to packets with no FCS appearing on the wire if the kernel allocated the packet in fragments, which would always happen when using PACKET_MMAP/TPACKET (cf. tpacket_fill_skb() in net/af_packet.c). aer_irq() reads the AER Root Error Status and Error Source Identification (PCI_ERR_ROOT_STATUS and PCI_ERR_ROOT_ERR_SRC) registers directly into struct aer_err_source. Both registers are 32 bits, so declare the members explicitly as "u32" instead of "unsigned int". Similarly, aer_get_device_error_info() reads the AER Header Log (PCI_ERR_HEADER_LOG) registers, which are also 32 bits, into struct aer_header_log_regs. Declare those members as "u32" as well. 2024-01-02PCI/AER: Decode Requester ID when no error info foundBjorn Helgaas
When a device with AER detects an error, it logs error information in its own AER Error Status registers. It may send an Error Message to the Root Port (RCEC in the case of an RCiEP), which logs the fact that an Error Message was received (Root Error Status) and the Requester ID of the message source (Error Source Identification). aer_print_port_info() prints the Requester ID from the Root Port Error Source in the usual Linux "bb:dd.f" format, but when find_source_device() finds no error details in the hierarchy below the Root Port, it printed the raw Requester ID without decoding it. Decode the Requester ID in the usual Linux format so it matches other messages. 2024-01-02PCI/AER: Use 'Correctable' and 'Uncorrectable' spec terms for errorsBjorn Helgaas
The PCIe spec classifies errors as either "Correctable" or "Uncorrectable". Previously we printed these as "Corrected" or "Uncorrected". To avoid confusion, use the same terms as the spec. One confusing situation is when one agent detects an error, but another agent is responsible for recovery, e.g., by re-attempting the operation. The first agent may log a "correctable" error but it has not yet been corrected. The recovery agent must report an uncorrectable error if it is unable to recover. If we print the first agent's error as "Corrected", it gives the false impression that it has already been resolved. 2024-01-02i40e: Fix VF disable behavior to block all trafficAndrii Staikov
Currently, if a VF is disabled using the 'ip link set dev $ETHX vf $VF_NUM state disable' command, the VF is still able to receive traffic. Fix the behavior of the 'ip link set dev $ETHX vf $VF_NUM state disable' to completely shutdown the VF's queues making it entirely disabled and not able to receive or send any traffic. Modify the behavior of the 'ip link set $ETHX vf $VF_NUM state enable' command to make a VF do reinitialization bringing the queues back up. 2024-01-02nvmet-tcp: fix a crash in nvmet_req_complete()Maurizio Lombardi
in nvmet_tcp_handle_h2c_data_pdu(), if the host sends a data_offset different from rbytes_done, the driver ends up calling nvmet_req_complete() passing a status error. The problem is that at this point cmd->req is not yet initialized, the kernel will crash after dereferencing a NULL pointer. Fix the bug by replacing the call to nvmet_req_complete() with nvmet_tcp_fatal_error(). 2024-01-02ice: replace ice_vf_recreate_vsi() with ice_vf_reconfig_vsi()Jacob Keller
The ice_vf_create_vsi() function and its VF ops helper introduced by commit a4c785e8162e ("ice: convert vf_ops .vsi_rebuild to .create_vsi") are used during an individual VF reset to re-create the VSI. This was done in order to ensure that the VSI gets properly reconfigured within the hardware. This is somewhat heavy handed as we completely release the VSI memory and structure, and then create a new VSI. This can also potentially force a change of the VSI index as we will re-use the first open slot in the VSI array which may not be the same. As part of implementing devlink reload, commit 6624e780a577 ("ice: split ice_vsi_setup into smaller functions") split VSI setup into smaller functions, introducing both ice_vsi_cfg() and ice_vsi_decfg() which can be used to configure or deconfigure an existing software VSI structure. Rather than completely removing the VSI and adding a new one using the .create_vsi() VF operation, simply use ice_vsi_decfg() to remove the current configuration. Save the VSI type and then call ice_vsi_cfg() to reconfigure the VSI as the same type that it was before. The existing reset logic assumes that all hardware filters will be removed, so also call ice_fltr_remove_all() before re-configuring the VSI. This new operation does not re-create the VSI, so rename it to ice_vf_reconfig_vsi(). The new approach can safely share the exact same flow for both SR-IOV VFs as well as the Scalable IOV VFs being worked on. This uses less code and is a better abstraction over fully deleting the VSI and adding a new one. 2024-01-02ice: Add support for packet mirroring using hardware in switchdev modeAndrii Staikov
Switchdev mode allows to add mirroring rules to mirror incoming and outgoing packets to the interface's port representor. Previously, this was available only using software functionality. Add possibility to offload this functionality to the NIC hardware. Introduce ICE_MIRROR_PACKET filter action to the ice_sw_fwd_act_type enum to identify the desired action and pass it to the hardware as well as the VSI to mirror. 2024-01-02ice: Enable SW interrupt from FW for LL TSKarol Kolacinski
Introduce new capability - Low Latency Timestamping with Interrupt. On supported devices, driver can request a single timestamp from FW without polling the register afterwards. Instead, FW can issue a dedicated interrupt when the timestamp was read from the PHY register and its value is available to read from the register. This eliminates the need of bottom half scheduling, which results in minimal delay for timestamping. For this mode, allocate TS indices sequentially, so that timestamps are always completed in FIFO manner. The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by returning an error code. However the value returned is ignored (apart from emitting a warning) and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new(), which already returns void. Eventually after all drivers are converted, .remove_new() will be renamed to .remove(). Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove callback to the void returning variant.
