2021-04-12drm/i915/display/vlv_dsi: Do not skip panel_pwr_cycle_delay when disabling ↵Hans de Goede
the panel After the recently added commit fe0f1e3bfdfe ("drm/i915: Shut down displays gracefully on reboot"), the DSI panel on a Cherry Trail based Predia Basic tablet would no longer properly light up after reboot. I've managed to reproduce this without rebooting by doing: chvt 3; echo 1 > /sys/class/graphics/fb0/blank;\ echo 0 > /sys/class/graphics/fb0/blank Which rapidly turns the panel off and back on again. The vlv_dsi.c code uses an intel_dsi_msleep() helper for the various delays used for panel on/off, since starting with MIPI-sequences version >= 3 the delays are already included inside the MIPI-sequences. The problems exposed by the "Shut down displays gracefully on reboot" change, show that using this helper for the panel_pwr_cycle_delay is not the right thing to do. This has not been noticed until now because normally the panel never is cycled off and directly on again in quick succession. Change the msleep for the panel_pwr_cycle_delay to a normal msleep() call to avoid the panel staying black after a quick off + on cycle. 2021-04-12drm/i915: Don't zero out the Y plane's watermarksVille Syrjälä
Don't zero out the watermarks for the Y plane since we've already computed them when computing the UV plane's watermarks (since the UV plane always appears before ethe Y plane when iterating through the planes). This leads to allocating no DDB for the Y plane since .min_ddb_alloc also gets zeroed. And that of course leads to underruns when scanning out planar formats. 2021-04-12drm/i915/dpcd_bl: Don't try vesa interface unless specified by VBTLyude Paul
Looks like that there actually are another subset of laptops on the market that don't support the Intel HDR backlight interface, but do advertise support for the VESA DPCD backlight interface despite the fact it doesn't seem to work. Note though I'm not entirely clear on this - on one of the machines where this issue was observed, I also noticed that we appeared to be rejecting the VBT defined backlight frequency in intel_dp_aux_vesa_calc_max_backlight(). It's noted in this function that: /* Use highest possible value of Pn for more granularity of brightness * adjustment while satifying the conditions below. * ... * - FxP is within 25% of desired value. * Note: 25% is arbitrary value and may need some tweak. */ So it's possible that this value might just need to be tweaked, but for now let's just disable the VESA backlight interface unless it's specified in the VBT just to be safe. We might be able to try enabling this again by default in the future. 2021-04-12s390/pci: narrow scope of zpci_configure_device()Niklas Schnelle
Currently zpci_configure_device() can be called on a zPCI function in two completely different states. Either the underlying zPCI function has already been configured by the platform and we are only doing the scanning to get it usable by Linux drivers. Or the underlying function is in Standby and we first do an SCLP to get it configured. This makes zpci_configure_device() harder to reason about. Since calling zpci_configure_device() on a function in Standby only happens in enable_slot() simply pull out the SCLP call and setting of zdev->state and thus call zpci_configure_device() under the same circumstances as in the event handling code. 2021-04-12USB: serial: cp210x: provide gpio valid maskJohan Hovold
Use the new GPIO valid-mask feature to inform gpiolib which pins are available for use instead of handling that in a request callback. This also allows user space to figure out which pins are available through the chardev interface without having to request each pin in turn. Note that the return value when requesting an unavailable pin will now be -EINVAL instead of -ENODEV. 2021-04-12dmaengine: Fix a double free in dma_async_device_registerLv Yunlong
In the first list_for_each_entry() macro of dma_async_device_register, it gets the chan from list and calls __dma_async_device_channel_register (..,chan). We can see that chan->local is allocated by alloc_percpu() and it is freed chan->local by free_percpu(chan->local) when __dma_async_device_channel_register() failed. But after __dma_async_device_channel_register() failed, the caller will goto err_out and freed the chan->local in the second time by free_percpu(). The cause of this problem is forget to set chan->local to NULL when chan->local was freed in __dma_async_device_channel_register(). My patch sets chan->local to NULL when the callee failed to avoid double free. This reverts commit 04b8edad262eec0d153005973dfbdd83423c0dcb. mx25l51245g and mx66l51235l have the same flash ID. The flash detection returns the first entry in the flash_info array that matches the flash ID that was read, thus for the 0xc2201a ID, mx25l51245g was always hit, introducing a regression for mx66l51235l. If one wants to differentiate the flash names, a better fix would be to differentiate between the two at run-time, depending on SFDP, and choose the correct name from a list of flash names, depending on the SFDP differentiator. 2021-04-11mtd: spi-nor: core: Fix an issue of releasing resources during read/writeXiang Chen
If rmmod the driver during read or write, the driver will release the resources which are used during read or write, so it is possible to refer to NULL pointer. Use the testcase "mtd_debug read /dev/mtd0 0xc00000 0x400000 dest_file & sleep 0.5;rmmod spi_hisi_sfc_v3xx.ko", the issue can be reproduced in hisi_sfc_v3xx driver. To avoid the issue, fill the interface _get_device and _put_device of mtd_info to grab the reference to the spi controller driver module, so the request of rmmod the driver is rejected before read/write is finished.
