2023-10-13net: sparx5: replace deprecated strncpy with ethtool_sprintfJustin Stitt
strncpy() is deprecated for use on NUL-terminated destination strings [1] and as such we should prefer more robust and less ambiguous string interfaces. ethtool_sprintf() is designed specifically for get_strings() usage. Let's replace strncpy() in favor of this more robust and easier to understand interface. `strncpy` is deprecated for use on NUL-terminated destination strings [1] and as such we should prefer more robust and less ambiguous string interfaces. We expect `dst` to be NUL-terminated based on its use with format strings: | mlx4_dbg(dev, "Reporting Driver Version to FW: %s\n", dst); Moreover, NUL-padding is not required. Considering the above, a suitable replacement is `strscpy` [2] due to the fact that it guarantees NUL-termination on the destination buffer without unnecessarily NUL-padding. Let's also opt to use the more idiomatic strscpy() usage of (dest, src, sizeof(dest)) rather than (dest, src, SOME_LEN). Typically the pattern of 1) allocate memory for string, 2) copy string into freshly-allocated memory is a candidate for kmemdup_nul() but in this case we are allocating the entirety of the `res` struct and that should stay as is. 2023-10-13mlxsw: pci: Allocate skbs using GFP_KERNEL during initializationIdo Schimmel
The driver allocates skbs during initialization and during Rx processing. Take advantage of the fact that the former happens in process context and allocate the skbs using GFP_KERNEL to decrease the probability of allocation failure. Tested with CONFIG_DEBUG_ATOMIC_SLEEP=y. 2023-10-13tcp: allow again tcp_disconnect() when threads are waitingPaolo Abeni
As reported by Tom, .NET and applications build on top of it rely on connect(AF_UNSPEC) to async cancel pending I/O operations on TCP socket. The blamed commit below caused a regression, as such cancellation can now fail. As suggested by Eric, this change addresses the problem explicitly causing blocking I/O operation to terminate immediately (with an error) when a concurrent disconnect() is executed. Instead of tracking the number of threads blocked on a given socket, track the number of disconnect() issued on such socket. If such counter changes after a blocking operation releasing and re-acquiring the socket lock, error out the current operation. 2023-10-13ice: fix over-shifted variableJesse Brandeburg
Since the introduction of the ice driver the code has been double-shifting the RSS enabling field, because the define already has shifts in it and can't have the regular pattern of "a << shiftval & mask" applied. Most places in the code got it right, but one line was still wrong. Fix this one location for easy backports to stable. An in-progress patch fixes the defines to "standard" and will be applied as part of the regular -next process sometime after this one. 2023-10-13net: dsa: bcm_sf2: Fix possible memory leak in bcm_sf2_mdio_register()Jinjie Ruan
In bcm_sf2_mdio_register(), the class_find_device() will call get_device() to increment reference count for priv->master_mii_bus->dev if of_mdio_find_bus() succeeds. If mdiobus_alloc() or mdiobus_register() fails, it will call get_device() twice without decrement reference count for the device. And it is the same if bcm_sf2_mdio_register() succeeds but fails in bcm_sf2_sw_probe(), or if bcm_sf2_sw_probe() succeeds. If the reference count has not decremented to zero, the dev related resource will not be freed. So remove the get_device() in bcm_sf2_mdio_register(), and call put_device() if mdiobus_alloc() or mdiobus_register() fails and in bcm_sf2_mdio_unregister() to solve the issue. And as Simon suggested, unwind from errors for bcm_sf2_mdio_register() and just return 0 if it succeeds to make it cleaner. 2023-10-13efi: fix memory leak in krealloc failure handlingKuan-Wei Chiu
In the previous code, there was a memory leak issue where the previously allocated memory was not freed upon a failed krealloc operation. chcr_ktls uses the space reserved in driver_state by tls_set_device_offload, but makes up into own wrapper around tls_offload_context_tx instead of accessing driver_state via the __tls_driver_ctx helper. Since 429e3d123d9a ("bonding: Fix extraction of ports from the packet headers"), header offsets used to compute a hash in bond_xmit_hash() are relative to skb->data and not skb->head. If the tail of the header buffer of an skb really needs to be advanced and the operation is successful, the pointer to the data must be returned (and not a pointer to the head of the buffer). 2023-10-13x86/efistub: Don't try to print after ExitBootService()Nikolay Borisov
setup_e820() is executed after UEFI's ExitBootService has been called. This causes the firmware to throw an exception because the Console IO protocol is supposed to work only during boot service environment. As per UEFI 2.9, section 12.1: "This protocol is used to handle input and output of text-based information intended for the system user during the operation of code in the boot services environment." So drop the diagnostic warning from this function. We might add back a warning that is issued later when initializing the kernel itself. struct_size() Prepare for the coming implementation by GCC and Clang of the __counted_by attribute. Flexible array members annotated with __counted_by can have their accesses bounds-checked at run-time via CONFIG_UBSAN_BOUNDS (for array indexing) and CONFIG_FORTIFY_SOURCE (for strcpy/memcpy-family functions). While there, use struct_size() helper, instead of the open-coded version, to calculate the size for the allocation of the whole flexible structure, including of course, the flexible-array member. 2023-10-13net: stmmac: dwmac-stm32: refactor clock configBen Wolsieffer
Currently, clock configuration is spread throughout the driver and partially duplicated for the STM32MP1 and STM32 MCU variants. This makes it difficult to keep track of which clocks need to be enabled or disabled in various scenarios. This patch adds symmetric stm32_dwmac_clk_enable/disable() functions that handle all clock configuration, including quirks required while suspending or resuming. syscfg_clk and clk_eth_ck are not present on STM32 MCUs, but it is fine to try to configure them anyway since NULL clocks are ignored. The merge commit 92716869375b ("Merge branch 'br-flush-filtering'") added support for FDB flushing in bridge driver only, the VXLAN driver does not support such flushing. Extend VXLAN driver to support FDB flushing. In this commit, add support for flushing with state and flags, which are the fields that supported in the bridge driver. Note that bridge driver supports 'NTF_USE' flag, but there is no point to support this flag for flushing as it is ignored when flags are stored. 'NTF_STICKY' is not relevant for VXLAN driver. 'NTF_ROUTER' is not supported in bridge driver for flush as it is not relevant for bridge, add it for VXLAN. 2023-10-13vxlan: vxlan_core: Do not skip default entry in vxlan_flush() by defaultAmit Cohen
Currently, the function vxlan_flush() does not flush the default FDB entry (an entry with all_zeros_mac and default VNI), as it is deleted at vxlan_uninit(). When this function will be used for flushing FDB entries from user space, it will have to flush also the default entry in case that other parameters match (e.g., VNI, flags). Extend 'struct vxlan_fdb_flush_desc' to include an indication whether the default entry should be flushed or not. The default value (false) indicates to flush it, adjust all the existing callers to set '.ignore_default_entry' to true, so the current behavior will not be changed. This reverts commit 92e24e0e57f72e06c2df87116557331fd2d4dda2. While the patch itself is correct, it uncovered an issue with fallback to PS/2 mode, where we were leaving psmouse->fast_reconnect handler set to psmouse_smbus_reconnect(), which caused crashes. While discussing various approaches to fix the issue it was noted that this patch ass undesired delay in the "fast" resume path of PS/2 device, and it would be better to actually use "reset_delay" option defined in struct rmi_device_platform_data and have RMI code handle it for SMBus transport as well. So this patch is being reverted to deal with crashes and a better solution will be merged shortly.
