2016-11-24acpi/bus: Enable HWP CPPC objectsSrinivas Pandruvada
Need to set platform wide _OSC bits to enable CPPC and CPPC version 2. If platform supports CPPC, then BIOS exposes CPPC tables. The primary reason to enable CPPC support is to get the maximum performance of each CPU to check and enable Intel Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0 (ITMT). 2016-11-24i2c: designware: fix rx fifo depth trackingRussell King
When loading the TX fifo to receive bytes on the I2C bus, we incorrectly count the number of bytes: rx_limit = dev->rx_fifo_depth - dw_readl(dev, DW_IC_RXFLR); while (buf_len > 0 && tx_limit > 0 && rx_limit > 0) { if (rx_limit - dev->rx_outstanding <= 0) break; rx_limit--; dev->rx_outstanding++; } DW_IC_RXFLR indicates how many bytes are available to be read in the FIFO, dev->rx_fifo_depth is the FIFO size, and dev->rx_outstanding is the number of bytes that we've requested to be read so far, but which have not been read. Firstly, increasing dev->rx_outstanding and decreasing rx_limit and then comparing them results in each byte consuming "two" bytes in this tracking, so this is obviously wrong. Secondly, the number of bytes that _could_ be received into the FIFO at any time is the number of bytes we have so far requested but not yet read from the FIFO - in other words dev->rx_outstanding. So, in order to request enough bytes to fill the RX FIFO, we need to request dev->rx_fifo_depth - dev->rx_outstanding bytes. Modifying the code thusly results in us reaching the maximum number of bytes outstanding each time we queue more "receive" operations, provided the transfer allows that to happen. 2016-11-23xc2028: Fix use-after-free bug properlyTakashi Iwai
The commit 8dfbcc4351a0 ("[media] xc2028: avoid use after free") tried to address the reported use-after-free by clearing the reference. However, it's clearing the wrong pointer; it sets NULL to priv->ctrl.fname, but it's anyway overwritten by the next line memcpy(&priv->ctrl, p, sizeof(priv->ctrl)). OTOH, the actual code accessing the freed string is the strcmp() call with priv->fname: if (!firmware_name[0] && p->fname && priv->fname && strcmp(p->fname, priv->fname)) free_firmware(priv); where priv->fname points to the previous file name, and this was already freed by kfree(). Per PCIe spec r3.0, sec 2.3.1.1, the Read Completion Boundary (RCB) determines the naturally aligned address boundaries on which a Read Request may be serviced with multiple Completions: - For a Root Complex, RCB is 64 bytes or 128 bytes This value is reported in the Link Control Register Note: Bridges and Endpoints may implement a corresponding command bit which may be set by system software to indicate the RCB value for the Root Complex, allowing the Bridge/Endpoint to optimize its behavior when the Root Complex’s RCB is 128 bytes. - For all other system elements, RCB is 128 bytes Per sec 7.8.7, if a Root Port only supports a 64-byte RCB, the RCB of all downstream devices must be clear, indicating an RCB of 64 bytes. If the Root Port supports a 128-byte RCB, we may optionally set the RCB of downstream devices so they know they can generate larger Completions. Some BIOSes supply an _HPX that tells us to set RCB, even though the Root Port doesn't have RCB set, which may lead to Malformed TLP errors if the Endpoint generates completions larger than the Root Port can handle. After 6cd33649fa83 ("PCI: Add pci_configure_device() during enumeration") and 7a1562d4f2d0 ("PCI: Apply _HPX Link Control settings to all devices with a link"), we apply _HPX settings to *all* devices, not just those hot-added after boot. Before 7a1562d4f2d0, we didn't touch the Mellanox RCB, and the device worked. After 7a1562d4f2d0, we set its RCB to 128, and it failed. Set the RCB to 128 iff the Root Port supports a 128-byte RCB. Otherwise, set RCB to 64 bytes. This effectively ignores what _HPX tells us about RCB. Note that this change only affects _HPX handling. If we have no _HPX, this does nothing with RCB. 2016-11-23clk: sunxi-ng: enable so-said LDOs for A33 SoC's pll-mipi clockIcenowy Zheng
In the user manual of A33 SoC, the bit 22 and 23 of pll-mipi control register is called "LDO{1,2}_EN", and according to the BSP source code from Allwinner [1], the LDOs are enabled during the clock's enabling process. The clock failed to generate output if the two LDOs are not enabled. Add the two bits to the clock's gate bits, so that the LDOs are enabled when the PLL is enabled. Per peer tx stats are part of 'HTT_10_4_T2H_MSG_TYPE_PEER_STATS' event, Firmware sends one HTT event for every four PPDUs. HTT payload has success pkts/bytes, failed pkts/bytes, retry pkts/bytes and rate info per ppdu. Peer stats are enabled through 'WMI_SERVICE_PEER_STATS', which are nowadays enabled by default. Parse peer stats and update the tx rate information per STA. tx rate, Peer stats are tested on QCA4019 with Firmware version 10.4-3.2.1-00028. Otherwise the GPU can fail to power on after runtime suspend. This affected a Dell Inspiron 5548. 2016-11-23HID: hid-sensor-hub: clear memory to avoid random dataSong Hongyan
When user tried to read some fields like hysteresis from IIO sysfs on some systems, it fails. The reason is that this field is a byte field and caller of sensor_hub_get_feature() passes a buffer of 4 bytes. Here the function sensor_hub_get_feature() copies the single byte from the report to the caller buffer and returns "1" as the number of bytes copied. So caller can use the return value. But this is done by multiple callers, so if we just change the sensor_hub_get_feature so that caller buffer is initialized with 0s then we don't to change all functions.
