2019-09-04tty: serial: fsl_lpuart: Simplify RX/TX IRQ handlersAndrey Smirnov
It appears that lpuart_rxint, lpuart_txint and lpuart32_rxint were modelled after identical function found in UART driver for i.MX. However, while said functions are used as individual IRQ handlers in i.MX driver (in case of i.MX1), it is not the case for LPUART. Given that, there's no need for us to restrict the prototype of the handler to irqreturn_t foo(int, void *) and we can drop all of uneened boilerplate code by changing it void foo(struct lpuart_port *). 2019-09-04tty: serial: fsl_lpuart: flush receive FIFO after overrunsStefan Agner
After overruns the FIFO pointers become misaligned. This typically shows by characters still being stuck in the FIFO despite the empty flag being asserted. After the first assertion of the overrun flag the empty flag still seems to indicate FIFO state correctly and all data can be read. However, after another overrun assertion the FIFO seems to be off by one such that the last received character is still in the FIFO (despite the empty flag being asserted). Flushing the receive FIFO reinitializes pointers. Hence it is recommended to flush the FIFO after overruns, see also: https://community.nxp.com/thread/321175 Hence, on assertion of the overrun flag read the remaining data from the FIFO and flush buffers. 2019-09-04tty: serial: fsl_lpuart: fix framing error handling when using DMAStefan Agner
When using DMA framing error get cleared properly. However, due to the additional read from the data register, an underflow in the receive FIFO buffer occurs (the FIFO pointer gets out of sync). Clear the FIFO in case an underflow has occurred. Also disable the receiver during this operation and when reading the data register to minimize potential interference. 2019-09-04serial: imx: set_mctrl(): correctly restore autoRTS stateSergey Organov
imx_uart_set_mctrl() happened to set UCR2_CTSC bit whenever TIOCM_RTS was set, no matter if RTS/CTS handshake is enabled or not. 2019-09-04serial: imx: set_termios(): do not enable autoRTS if RTS is unsetSergey Organov
Don't let receiver hardware automatically control RTS output if it was requested to be inactive. To ensure this, set_termios() shouldn't set UCR2_CTSC bit if UCR2_CTS (=TIOCM_RTS) is cleared. Added corresponding check in imx_uart_rts_auto() to fix this. 2019-09-04serial: 8250_omap: Fix idling for unloaded serdev driversTony Lindgren
For many years omap variants have been setting the runtime PM autosuspend delay to -1 to prevent unsafe policy with lossy first character on wake-up. The user must specifically enable the timeout for UARTs if desired. We must not enable the workaround for serdev devices though. It leads into UARTs not idling if no serdev devices are loaded and there is no sysfs entry to configure the UART in that case. And this means that my PM may not work unless the serdev modules are loaded. We can detect a serdev device being configured based on a dts child node, and we can simply skip the workround in that case. And the serdev driver can idle the port during runtime when suitable if an out-of-band wake-up GPIO line exists for example. Let's also add some comments to the workaround while at it. 2019-09-04virtio-net: lower min ring num_free for efficiency? jiang
This change lowers ring buffer reclaim threshold from 1/2*queue to budget for better performance. According to our test with qemu + dpdk, packet dropping happens when the guest is not able to provide free buffer in avail ring timely with default 1/2*queue. The value in the patch has been tested and does show better performance. Test setup: iperf3 to generate packets to guest (total 30mins, pps 400k, UDP) avg packets drop before: 2842 avg packets drop after: 360(-87.3%) Further, current code suffers from a starvation problem: the amount of work done by try_fill_recv is not bounded by the budget parameter, thus (with large queues) once in a while userspace gets blocked for a long time while queue is being refilled. 2019-09-04EDAC/mc_sysfs: Make debug messages consistentRobert Richter
Debug messages are inconsistently used in the error handlers. Some lack an error message, some are called regardless of the return status, messages for the same error are at different locations in the code depending on the error code. Remoteproc started using dma_declare_coherent_memory recently, which is a bad idea from drivers, and the maintainers agreed to fix that. But until that is fixed only allow building the driver built in so that we can remove the dma_declare_coherent_memory export and prevent other drivers from "accidentally" using it like remoteproc. Note that the driver would also leak the declared coherent memory on unload if it actually was built as a module at the moment. 2019-09-04parisc: don't set ARCH_NO_COHERENT_DMA_MMAPChristoph Hellwig
parisc is the only architecture that sets ARCH_NO_COHERENT_DMA_MMAP when an MMU is enabled. AFAIK this is because parisc CPUs use VIVT caches, which means exporting normally cachable memory to userspace is relatively dangrous due to cache aliasing. But normally cachable memory is only allocated by dma_alloc_coherent on parisc when using the sba_iommu or ccio_iommu drivers, so just remove the .mmap implementation for them so that we don't have to set ARCH_NO_COHERENT_DMA_MMAP, which I plan to get rid of. While the default ->mmap and ->get_sgtable implementations work for the majority of our dma_map_ops impementations they are inherently safe for others that don't use the page allocator or CMA and/or use their own way of remapping not covered by the common code. So remove the defaults if these methods are not wired up, but instead wire up the default implementations for all safe instances. For example, the driver fails to emit the F5 key up event when going through the following steps: - fnmode=1: hold FN, hold F5, release FN, release F5 - fnmode=2: hold F5, hold FN, release F5, release FN The repeated F5 key down events can be easily verified using xev.
