Alexander reported a use of uninitialized value in
atusb_set_extended_addr(), that is caused by reading 0 bytes via
usb_control_msg().
Fix it by validating if the number of bytes transferred is actually
correct, since usb_control_msg() may read less bytes, than was requested
by caller.

Some x86 ACPI boards have broken AC and battery ACPI devices in their ACPI
tables. This is often tied to these devices using certain PMICs where the
factory OS image seems to be using native charger and fuel-gauge drivers
instead.
So far both the AC and battery drivers have almost identical checks for
these PMICs including both of them having a DMI based mechanism to force
usage of the ACPI AC and battery drivers on some boards even though one
of these PMICs is present, with the same 2 boards listed in both driver's
DMI tables for this.
The only difference is that the AC driver checks for 2 PMICs and the
battery driver only for one. This has grown this way because the other
(Whiskey Cove) PMIC is only used on a few boards (3 known boards) and
although some of these do have non working ACPI battery devices, their
_STA method always returns 0, but that really should not be relied on.
This patch factors out the shared checks into a new
acpi_quirk_skip_acpi_ac_and_battery() helper and moves the AC and
battery drivers over to this new helper.
Note the DMI table is shared with acpi_quirk_skip_i2c_client_enumeration()
and acpi_quirk_skip_serdev_enumeration(), because boards needing DMI quirks
for either of these typically also have broken AC and battery ACPI devices.
The ACPI_QUIRK_SKIP_ACPI_AC_AND_BATTERY quirk is not set yet on boards
already in this DMI table, to avoid introducing any functional changes
in this refactoring patch.
Besided sharing the code between the AC and battery drivers this
refactoring also moves this quirk handling to under #ifdef CONFIG_X86,
removing this x86 specific code from non x86 ACPI builds.

The same rxe_map_set could be freed twice:
rxe_reg_user_mr()
-> rxe_mr_init_user()
-> rxe_mr_free_map_set() # 1st
-> rxe_drop_ref()
...
-> rxe_mr_cleanup()
-> rxe_mr_free_map_set() # 2nd
Follow normal convection and put resource cleanup either in the error
unwind of the allocator, or the overall free function. Leave the object
unchanged with a NULL cur_map_set on failure and remove the unncessary
free in rxe_mr_init_user().

Recent bpf-next merge brought in header changes which uncovered
includes missing in net-next which were not present in bpf-next.
Build problems happen only on less-popular arches like hppa,
sparc, alpha etc.
I could repro the build problem with ice but not the mlx5 problem
Abdul was reporting. mlx5 does look like it should include filter.h,
anyway.

This patch adds support for scatter gather DMA. DMA in PMAC splits
the packet into several buffers when the MTU on the CPU port is
less than the MTU of the switch. The first buffer starts at an
offset of NET_IP_ALIGN. In subsequent buffers, dma ignores the
offset. Thanks to this patch, the user can still connect to the
device in such a situation. For normal configurations, the patch
has no effect on performance.

Add support for external timestamp and periodic signal output.
TJA1103 have one periodic signal and one external time stamp signal that
can be multiplexed on all 11 gpio pins.
The periodic signal can be only enabled or disabled. Have no start time
and if is enabled will be generated with a period of one second in sync
with the LTC seconds counter. The phase change is possible only with a
half of a second.
The external timestamp signal has no interrupt and no valid bit and
that's why the timestamps are handled by polling in .do_aux_work.

Get originating device from tuple offload metadata match ingress_ifindex,
and set flow_source hint to either LOCAL for vf/sf reps, UPLINK for
uplink/wire/tunnel devices/bond, or ANY (as before this patch)
for all others.
This allows lower layer (software steering or firmware) to insert the tuple
rule only in one table (either rx or tx) instead of two (rx and tx).

There is no need to create kobject children of the pktcdvd device just
to display a subdirectory name. Instead, use a named attribute group
which removes the extra kobjects and also fixes the userspace race where
the device is created yet tools like libudev can not see the attributes
as they think the subdirectories are some other sort of device.

On systems with large numbers of MDIO bus/muxes the message indicating
that a given MDIO bus has been successfully probed is repeated for as
many buses we have, which can eat up substantial boot time for no
reason, demote to a debug print.

The function to retrieve battery info (from the device tree) assumes
we have a static info struct that gets populated by calling into
power_supply_get_battery_info().
This is awkward since I want to support tables of static battery
info by just assigning a pointer to all info based on e.g. a
compatible value in the device tree.
We also have a mixture of static and dynamically allocated
variables here.
Bite the bullet and let power_supply_get_battery_info() allocate
also the memory used for the very top level
struct power_supply_battery_info container. Pass pointers
around and lifecycle this with the psy device just like the
stuff we allocate inside it.
Change all current users over.
As part of the change, initializers need to be added to some
previously uninitialized fields in struct
power_supply_battery_info.

Bugzilla #213839 reports a 7-port hub that doesn't work properly when
devices are plugged into some of the ports; the kernel goes into an
unending disconnect/reinitialize loop as shown in the bug report.
This "7-port hub" comprises two four-port hubs with one plugged into
the other; the failures occur when a device is plugged into one of the
downstream hub's ports. (These hubs have other problems too. For
example, they bill themselves as USB-2.0 compliant but they only run
at full speed.)
It turns out that the failures are caused by bugs in both the kernel
and the hub. The hub's bug is that it reports a different
bmAttributes value in its configuration descriptor following a remote
wakeup (0xe0 before, 0xc0 after -- the wakeup-support bit has
changed).
The kernel's bug is inside the hub driver's resume handler. When
hub_activate() sees that one of the hub's downstream ports got a
wakeup request from a child device, it notes this fact by setting the
corresponding bit in the hub->change_bits variable. But this variable
is meant for connection changes, not wakeup events; setting it causes
the driver to believe the downstream port has been disconnected and
then connected again (in addition to having received a wakeup
request).
Because of this, the hub driver then tries to check whether the device
currently plugged into the downstream port is the same as the device
that had been attached there before. Normally this check succeeds and
wakeup handling continues with no harm done (which is why the bug
remained undetected until now). But with these dodgy hubs, the check
fails because the config descriptor has changed. This causes the hub
driver to reinitialize the child device, leading to the
disconnect/reinitialize loop described in the bug report.
The proper way to note reception of a downstream wakeup request is
to set a bit in the hub->event_bits variable instead of
hub->change_bits. That way the hub driver will realize that something
has happened to the port but will not think the port and child device
have been disconnected. This patch makes that change.

When the USB core code for getting root-hub status reports was
originally written, it was assumed that the hub driver would be its
only caller. But this isn't true now; user programs can use usbfs to
communicate with root hubs and get status reports. When they do this,
they may use a transfer_buffer that is smaller than the data returned
by the HCD, which will lead to a buffer overflow error when
usb_hcd_poll_rh_status() tries to store the status data. This was
discovered by syzbot:

This patch fixes the bug by reducing the amount of status data if it
won't fit in the transfer_buffer. If some data gets discarded then
the URB's completion status is set to -EOVERFLOW rather than 0, to let
the user know what happened.
