2021-12-08net: dsa: mv88e6xxx: fix "don't use PHY_DETECT on internal PHY's"Russell King (Oracle)
This commit fixes a misunderstanding in commit 4a3e0aeddf09 ("net: dsa: mv88e6xxx: don't use PHY_DETECT on internal PHY's"). For Marvell DSA switches with the PHY_DETECT bit (for non-6250 family devices), controls whether the PPU polls the PHY to retrieve the link, speed, duplex and pause status to update the port configuration. This applies for both internal and external PHYs. For some switches such as 88E6352 and 88E6390X, PHY_DETECT has an additional function of enabling auto-media mode between the internal PHY and SERDES blocks depending on which first gains link. The original intention of commit 5d5b231da7ac (net: dsa: mv88e6xxx: use PHY_DETECT in mac_link_up/mac_link_down) was to allow this bit to be used to detect when this propagation is enabled, and allow software to update the port configuration. This has found to be necessary for some switches which do not automatically propagate status from the SERDES to the port, which includes the 88E6390. However, commit 4a3e0aeddf09 ("net: dsa: mv88e6xxx: don't use PHY_DETECT on internal PHY's") breaks this assumption. Maarten Zanders has confirmed that the issue he was addressing was for an 88E6250 switch, which does not have a PHY_DETECT bit in bit 12, but instead a link status bit. Therefore, mv88e6xxx_port_ppu_updates() does not report correctly. This patch resolves the above issues by reverting Maarten's change and instead making mv88e6xxx_port_ppu_updates() indicate whether the port is internal for the 88E6250 family of switches. Yes, you're right, I'm targeting the 6250 family. And yes, your suggestion would solve my case and is a better implementation for the other devices (as far as I can see). 2021-12-08virtio_ring: Fix querying of maximum DMA mapping size for virtio deviceWill Deacon
virtio_max_dma_size() returns the maximum DMA mapping size of the virtio device by querying dma_max_mapping_size() for the device when the DMA API is in use for the vring. Unfortunately, the device passed is initialised by register_virtio_device() and does not inherit the DMA configuration from its parent, resulting in SWIOTLB errors when bouncing is enabled and the default 256K mapping limit (IO_TLB_SEGSIZE) is not respected: | virtio-pci 0000:00:01.0: swiotlb buffer is full (sz: 294912 bytes), total 1024 (slots), used 725 (slots) Follow the pattern used elsewhere in the virtio_ring code when calling into the DMA layer and pass the parent device to dma_max_mapping_size() instead. 2021-12-08vduse: check that offset is within bounds in get_config()Dan Carpenter
This condition checks "len" but it does not check "offset" and that could result in an out of bounds read if "offset > dev->config_size". The problem is that since both variables are unsigned the "dev->config_size - offset" subtraction would result in a very high unsigned value. I think these checks might not be necessary because "len" and "offset" are supposed to already have been validated using the vhost_vdpa_config_validate() function. But I do not know the code perfectly, and I like to be safe. In this function "c->off" is a u32 and "size" is a long. On 64bit systems if "c->off" is greater than "size" then "size - c->off" is a negative and we always return -E2BIG. But on 32bit systems the subtraction is type promoted to a high positive u32 value and basically any "c->len" is accepted. The "config.offset" comes from the user. There needs to a check to prevent it being out of bounds. The "config.offset" and "dev->config_size" variables are both type u32. So if the offset if out of bounds then the "dev->config_size - config.offset" subtraction results in a very high u32 value. The out of bounds offset can result in memory corruption. The driver was zeroing live stats that could be fetched by ndo_get_stats64 at any time. This could result in inconsistent statistics, and the telltale sign was when reading stats frequently from /proc/net/dev, the stats would go backwards. Fix by collecting stats into a local, and delaying when we write to the structure so it's not incremental. 2021-12-08brcmsmac: rework LED dependenciesArnd Bergmann
This is now the only driver that selects the LEDS_CLASS framework, which is normally user-selectable. While it doesn't strictly cause a bug, rework the Kconfig logic to be more consistent with what other drivers do, and only enable LED support in brcmsmac if the dependencies are all there, rather than using 'select' to enable what it needs. Commit 739b4e7756d3 ("drm/msm/dsi: Fix an error code in msm_dsi_modeset_init()") changed msm_dsi_modeset_init() to return an error code in case msm_dsi_manager_validate_current_config() returns false. However this is not an error case, but a slave DSI of the bonded DSI link. In this case msm_dsi_modeset_init() should return 0, but just skip connector and bridge initialization. To reduce possible confusion, drop the msm_dsi_manager_validate_current_config() function, and specif 'bonded && !master' condition directly in the msm_dsi_modeset_init(). 2021-12-08drm/syncobj: Deal with signalled fences in drm_syncobj_find_fence.Bas Nieuwenhuizen
dma_fence_chain_find_seqno only ever returns the top fence in the chain or an unsignalled fence. Hence if we request a seqno that is already signalled it returns a NULL fence. Some callers are not prepared to handle this, like the syncobj transfer functions for example. This behavior is "new" with timeline syncobj and it looks like not all callers were updated. To fix this behavior make sure that a successful drm_sync_find_fence always returns a non-NULL fence. v2: Move the fix to drm_syncobj_find_fence from the transfer functions. nvmet_tcp_handle_req_failure needs to understand weather to prepare for incoming data or the next pdu. However if we misidentify this, we will wait for 0-length data, and queue the response although nvmet_req_init already did that. The particular command was namespace management command with no data, which was incorrectly categorized as a command with incapsule data. Also, add a code comment of what we are trying to do here. At the moment, using the ARM32 multi_v7_defconfig always results in two SoCs being exposed in sysfs. 2021-12-08soc: xilinx: move PM_INIT_FINALIZE to zynqmp_pm_domains driverMichael Tretter
PM_INIT_FINALIZE tells the PMU FW that Linux is able to handle the power management nodes that are provided by the PMU FW. Nodes that are not requested are shut down after this call. Calling PM_INIT_FINALIZE from the zynqmp_power driver is wrong. The PM node request mechanism is implemented in the zynqmp_pm_domains driver, which must also call PM_INIT_FINALIZE. Due to the behavior of the PMU FW, all devices must be powered up before PM_INIT_FINALIZE is called, because otherwise the devices might misbehave. Calling PM_INIT_FINALIZE from the sync_state device callback ensures that all users probed successfully before the PMU FW is allowed to power off unused domains. 2021-12-08drm/omap: Add a 'right overlay' to plane stateBenoit Parrot
If the drm_plane has a source width that's greater than the max width supported by a single hw overlay, then we assign a 'r_overlay' to it in omap_plane_atomic_check(). Both overlays should have the capabilities required to handle the source framebuffer. The only parameters that vary between the left and right hwoverlays are the src_w, crtc_w, src_x and crtc_x as we just even chop the fb into left and right halves. We also take care of not creating odd width size when dealing with YUV formats. Since both halves need to be 'appear' side by side the zpos is recalculated when dealing with dual overlay cases so that the other planes zpos is consistent. Depending on user space usage it is possible that on occasion the number of requested planes exceeds the numbers of overlays required to display them. In that case a failure would be returned for the plane that cannot be handled at that time. It is up to user space to make sure the H/W resource are not over-subscribed. 2021-12-08drm/omap: dynamically assign hw overlays to planesBenoit Parrot
(re)assign the hw overlays to planes based on required caps, and to handle situations where we could not modify an in-use plane. This means all planes advertise the superset of formats and properties. Userspace must (as always) use atomic TEST_ONLY step for atomic updates, as not all planes may be available for use on every frame. The mapping of hwoverlays to plane is stored in omap_global_state, so that state updates are atomically committed in the same way that plane/etc state updates are managed. This is needed because the omap_plane_state keeps a pointer to the hwoverlay, and we don't want global state to become out of sync with the plane state if an atomic update fails, we hit deadlock/ backoff scenario, etc. The use of global_state_lock keeps multiple parallel updates which both re-assign hwoverlays properly serialized. 2021-12-08drm/omap: Add global state as a private atomic objectBenoit Parrot
Global shared resources (like hw overlays) for omapdrm are implemented as a part of atomic state using the drm_private_obj infrastructure available in the atomic core. omap_global_state is introduced as a drm atomic private object. The two funcs omap_get_global_state() and omap_get_existing_global_state() are the two variants that will be used to access omap_global_state. drm_mode_config_init() needs to be called earlier because it creates/initializes the private_obj link list maintained by the atomic framework. The private_obj link list has to exist prior to calling drm_atomic_private_obj_init(). Similarly the cleanup handler are reordered appropriately. 2021-12-08drm/omap: introduce omap_hw_overlayBenoit Parrot
Split out the hardware overlay specifics from omap_plane. To start, the hw overlays are statically assigned to planes. The goal is to eventually assign hw overlays dynamically to planes during plane->atomic_check() based on requested caps (scaling, YUV, etc). And then perform hw overlay re-assignment if required.
