2018-05-28media: v4l2-core: push taking ioctl mutex down to ioctl handlerHans Verkuil
The ioctl serialization mutex (vdev->lock or q->lock for vb2 queues) was taken at the highest level in v4l2-dev.c. This prevents more fine-grained locking since at that level we cannot examine the ioctl arguments, we can only do that after video_usercopy is called. So push the locking down to __video_do_ioctl() and subdev_do_ioctl_lock(). This also allows us to make a few functions in v4l2-ioctl.c static and video_usercopy() is no longer exported. 2018-05-28media: pvrusb2: replace pvr2_v4l2_ioctl by video_ioctl2Hans Verkuil
This driver is the only V4L driver that does not set unlocked_ioctl to video_ioctl2. The only thing that pvr2_v4l2_ioctl does besides calling video_ioctl2 is calling pvr2_hdw_commit_ctl(). Add pvr2_hdw_commit_ctl() calls to the various ioctls that need this, and we can replace pvr2_v4l2_ioctl by video_ioctl2. 2018-05-28media: adv7511: fix incorrect clear of CEC receive interruptHans Verkuil
If a CEC message was received and the RX interrupt was set, but not yet processed, and a new transmit was issues, then the transmit code would inadvertently clear the RX interrupt and after that no new messages would ever be received. Instead it should only clear TX interrupts since register 0x97 is a clear-on-write register. 2018-05-28media: pxa_camera: avoid duplicate s_power callsAkinobu Mita
The open() operation for the pxa_camera driver always calls s_power() operation to put its subdevice sensor in normal operation mode, and the release() operation always call s_power() operation to put the subdevice in power saving mode. This requires the subdevice sensor driver to keep track of its power state in order to avoid putting the subdevice in power saving mode while the device is still opened by some users. Many subdevice drivers handle it by the boilerplate code that increments and decrements an internal counter in s_power() like below: /* * If the power count is modified from 0 to != 0 or from != 0 to 0, * update the power state. */ if (sensor->power_count == !on) { ret = ov5640_set_power(sensor, !!on); if (ret) goto out; } /* Update the power count. */ sensor->power_count += on ? 1 : -1; However, some subdevice drivers don't handle it and may cause a problem with the pxa_camera driver if the video device is opened by more than two users at the same time. Instead of propagating the boilerplate code for each subdevice driver that implement s_power, this introduces an trick that many V4L2 drivers are using with v4l2_fh_is_singular_file(). 2018-05-28media: Remove depends on HAS_DMA in case of platform dependencyGeert Uytterhoeven
Remove dependencies on HAS_DMA where a Kconfig symbol depends on another symbol that implies HAS_DMA, and, optionally, on "|| COMPILE_TEST". In most cases this other symbol is an architecture or platform specific symbol, or PCI. Generic symbols and drivers without platform dependencies keep their dependencies on HAS_DMA, to prevent compiling subsystems or drivers that cannot work anyway. This simplifies the dependencies, and allows to improve compile-testing. Note: - The various VIDEOBUF*DMA* symbols had to loose their dependencies on HAS_DMA, as they are selected by several individual drivers. The current logic makes Smatch to false-detect a Spectre variant 1 vulnerability. The problem is that it initializes an u32 indirectly from user space input. After trying to write a fixup, after a while I realized that, in practice, this shouldn't be a problem, as an u32 is initialized from u8, but it took some time to discover it. So, do some code cleanup to make it clearer for both humans and machines about the valid range for "op". 2018-05-28media: gspca: Kill all URBs before releasing any of themEzequiel Garcia
Some subdrivers access the gspca_dev->urb array in the completion handler. To prevent use-after-free (actually, NULL dereferences) we need to synchronously kill all the URBs before we release them. In particular, this is currently the case for drivers such as sn9c20x and sonixj, which access the gspca_dev->urb[0] in the context of completion handler for *any* of the URBs. This commit changes the destroy_urb implementation, so it kills all URBs first, and then proceed to set the URBs to NULL in the array and release them. 2018-05-28media: videobuf2-core: don't call memop 'finish' when queueingHans Verkuil
When a buffer is queued or requeued in vb2_buffer_done, then don't call the finish memop. In this case the buffer is only returned to vb2, not to userspace. Calling 'finish' here will cause an unbalance when the queue is canceled, since the core will call the same memop again. To allow rereg_user_mr to modify the MR from read-only to writable without using get_user_pages again, we needed to define the initial MR as writable. However, this was originally done unconditionally, without taking into account the writability of the underlying virtual memory. As a result, any attempt to register a read-only MR over read-only virtual memory failed. To fix this, do not add the writable flag bit when the user virtual memory is not writable (e.g. const memory). However, when the underlying memory is NOT writable (and we therefore do not define the initial MR as writable), the IB core adds a "force writable" flag to its user-pages request. If this succeeds, the reg_user_mr caller gets a writable copy of the original pages. If the user-space caller then does a rereg_user_mr operation to enable writability, this will succeed. This should not be allowed, since the original virtual memory was not writable. Delay registering ourselves with the acpi lid notification mechanism until we are registering the connectors after initialisation is complete. 2018-05-27PM / runtime: Drop usage count for suppliers at device link removalUlf Hansson
In the case consumer device is runtime resumed, while the link to the supplier is removed, the earlier call to pm_runtime_get_sync() made from rpm_get_suppliers() does not get properly balanced with a corresponding call to pm_runtime_put(). This leads to that suppliers remains to be runtime resumed forever, while they don't need to. Let's fix the behaviour by calling rpm_put_suppliers() when dropping a device link. Not that, since rpm_put_suppliers() checks the link->rpm_active flag, we can correctly avoid to call pm_runtime_put() in cases when we shouldn't. 2018-05-27PM / runtime: Fixup reference counting of device link suppliers at probeUlf Hansson
In the driver core, before it invokes really_probe() it runtime resumes the suppliers for the device via calling pm_runtime_get_suppliers(), which also increases the runtime PM usage count for each of the available supplier. This makes sense, as to be able to allow the consumer device to be probed by its driver. However, if the driver decides to add a new supplier link during ->probe(), hence updating the list of suppliers, the following call to pm_runtime_put_suppliers(), invoked after really_probe() in the driver core, we get into trouble. More precisely, pm_runtime_put() gets called also for the new supplier(s), which is wrong as the driver core, didn't trigger pm_runtime_get_sync() to be called for it in the first place. In other words, the new supplier may be runtime suspended even in cases when it shouldn't. Fix this behaviour, by runtime resume suppliers according to the same conditions as managed by the runtime PM core, when runtime resume callbacks are being invoked. Additionally, don't try to runtime suspend any of the suppliers after really_probe(), but instead rely on that to happen via the consumer device, when it becomes runtime suspended. In do_chtls_setsockopt(), the tls crypto info is first copied from the poiner 'optval' in userspace and saved to 'tmp_crypto_info'. Then the 'version' of the crypto info is checked. If the version is not as expected, i.e., TLS_1_2_VERSION, error code -ENOTSUPP is returned to indicate that the provided crypto info is not supported yet. Then, the 'cipher_type' field of the 'tmp_crypto_info' is also checked to see if it is TLS_CIPHER_AES_GCM_128. If it is, the whole struct of tls12_crypto_info_aes_gcm_128 is copied from the pointer 'optval' and then the function chtls_setkey() is invoked to set the key. Given that the 'optval' pointer resides in userspace, a malicious userspace process can race to change the data pointed by 'optval' between the two copies. For example, a user can provide a crypto info with TLS_1_2_VERSION and TLS_CIPHER_AES_GCM_128. After the first copy, the user can modify the 'version' and the 'cipher_type' fields to any versions and/or cipher types that are not allowed. This way, the user can bypass the checks, inject bad data to the kernel, cause chtls_setkey() to set a wrong key or other issues. This patch reuses the data copied in the first try so as to ensure these checks will not be bypassed.
