If an external Gigabit PHY is connected to either of the MACs we need to be able to tell the PHY to use a delay. Not doing so will result in heavy packet loss and/or data corruption when using PHYs such as the IC+ IP1001. We tell the PHY which MII delay mode to use via the devictree. The ethernet driver needs to be adapted to handle all 3 rgmii-*id modes in the same way as normal rgmii when setting up the MAC. The MT7623 SoC has a builtin gigabit switch. If we want to use it, GMAC1 needs to be configured using a fixed link speed and flow control settings. The easiest way to do this is to used the fixed-phy driver, allowing us to reuse the existing mdio polling code to setup the MAC. The rx-usecs shouldn't be changed while interface down/up. Currently, for instance, if it's set to 100us, after interface down/up it's 500us. It's a hidden bug that can lead to lavish interrupt pacing time increasing while "down/up" up to max value. 2016-06-03gianfar: fix the last transmit buffer descriptorYangbo Lu
When the transmit hardware timestamping is enabled, an additional TxBD would be added and would be set as the last TxBD with TXBD_LAST and TXBD_INTERRUPT. However this has been broken by a patch recently. This made the software couldn't get transmit hardware timestamps and resulted in call trace. So, this patch is to fix this issue. In commit 2c1ea4c700af ("EDAC, sb_edac: Use cpu family/model in driver detection") we switched from using PCI ids to determine which platform we are running on to using CPU model instead. I forgot that Broadwell-DE has its own distinct model number different from Broadwell-EP or -EX. Fixing this isn't just adding a line to the array of cpuids - the exising code assumed a 1:1 mapping between entries in that array and the "enum type" values. Added the type to pci_id_table structure to remove this dependency and allows two Broadwell cpu models. There was an alignment mismatch issue for CMA and it was fixed by commit 1cc8e3458b51 ("drivers: of: of_reserved_mem: fixup the alignment with CMA setup"). However the way of the commit considers not only dma-contiguous(CMA) but also dma-coherent which has no that requirement. This patch checks more to distinguish dma-contiguous(CMA) from dma-coherent. pmu->irq_affinity will not be freed if an error occurred within arm_pmu_device_probe after of_pmu_irq_cfg has been called. Note that in the case of_pmu_irq_cfg is returning an error, pmu->irq_affinity will not be set, but it should be NULL as pmu was kzalloc'd. Therefore the result kfree(NULL) is benign. 2016-06-03drivers/perf: arm_pmu: Defer the setting of __oprofile_cpu_pmuJulien Grall
The global variable __oprofile_cpu_pmu is set before the PMU is fully initialized. If an error occurs before the end of the initialization, the PMU will be freed and the variable will contain an invalid pointer. This will result in a kernel crash when perf will be used. Fix it by moving the setting of __oprofile_cpu_pmu when the PMU is fully initialized (i.e when it is no longer possible to fail). 2016-06-03drivers/perf: arm_pmu: Fix reference count of a device_node in of_pmu_irq_cfgJulien Grall
The only function called by of_pmu_irq_cfg that will increment the reference count on dn is of_parse_phandle. Each time we successfully parse a possible CPU from an interrupt-affinity property, we increment the refcount of that CPU node once via of_parse_handle. After validating the CPU is possible, we decrement the refcount once. Subsequently, we decrement the refcount again, either as part of an early break if we don't have a matching SPI, or as part of the end of the loop body. This will lead to decrementing twice the refcounnt. Remove the second pairs of call to of_node_put as nobody is using dn between the first and second call to of_node_put. 2016-06-02cpufreq: stats: Make the stats code non-modularRafael J. Wysocki
The modularity of cpufreq_stats is quite problematic. First off, the usage of policy notifiers for the initialization and cleanup in the cpufreq_stats module is inherently racy with respect to CPU offline/online and the initialization and cleanup of the cpufreq driver. Second, fast frequency switching (used by the schedutil governor) cannot be enabled if any transition notifiers are registered, so if the cpufreq_stats module (that registers a transition notifier for updating transition statistics) is loaded, the schedutil governor cannot use fast frequency switching. On the other hand, allowing cpufreq_stats to be built as a module doesn't really add much value. Arguably, there's not much reason for that code to be modular at all. For the above reasons, make the cpufreq stats code non-modular, modify the core to invoke functions provided by that code directly and drop the notifiers from it. Make the stats sysfs attributes appear empty if fast frequency switching is enabled as the statistics will not be updated in that case anyway (and returning -EBUSY from those attributes breaks powertop). While at it, clean up Kconfig help for the CPU_FREQ_STAT and CPU_FREQ_STAT_DETAILS options. Signed-off-by: Rafael J. 2016-06-02cpufreq: Drop the 'initialized' field from struct cpufreq_governorRafael J. Wysocki
The 'initialized' field in struct cpufreq_governor is only used by the conservative governor (as a usage counter) and the way that happens is far from straightforward and arguably incorrect. Namely, the value of 'initialized' is checked by cpufreq_dbs_governor_init() and cpufreq_dbs_governor_exit() and the results of those checks are passed (as the second argument) to the ->init() and ->exit() callbacks in struct dbs_governor. Those callbacks are only implemented by the ondemand and conservative governors and ondemand doesn't use their second argument at all. In turn, the conservative governor uses it to decide whether or not to either register or unregister a transition notifier. That whole mechanism is not only unnecessarily convoluted, but also racy, because the 'initialized' field of struct cpufreq_governor is updated in cpufreq_init_governor() and cpufreq_exit_governor() under policy->rwsem which doesn't help if one of these functions is run twice in parallel for different policies (which isn't impossible in principle), for example. Instead of it, add a proper usage counter to the conservative governor and update it from cs_init() and cs_exit() which is guaranteed to be non-racy, as those functions are only called under gov_dbs_data_mutex which is global. With that in place, drop the 'initialized' field from struct cpufreq_governor as it is not used any more. Signed-off-by: Rafael J. The design of the cpufreq governor API is not very straightforward, as struct cpufreq_governor provides only one callback to be invoked from different code paths for different purposes. The purpose it is invoked for is determined by its second "event" argument, causing it to act as a "callback multiplexer" of sorts. Unfortunately, that leads to extra complexity in governors, some of which implement the ->governor() callback as a switch statement that simply checks the event argument and invokes a separate function to handle that specific event. That extra complexity can be eliminated by replacing the all-purpose ->governor() callback with a family of callbacks to carry out specific governor operations: initialization and exit, start and stop and policy limits updates. stmmac_mdio_reset() has been updated to use msleep rather udelay (as some PHY requires a one second delay there). It called from stmmac_resume() within the spin_lock_irqsave block atomic context triggering 'scheduling while atomic'. The stmmac_priv lock usage is not fully documented, but it seems to protect the access to the MAC registers / DMA structures rather than the MDIO bus or the PHY (which have separate locking), so we can push the spin_lock after the stmmac_mdio_reset call.
