2023-02-07cxl/region: Fix passthrough-decoder detectionDan Williams
A passthrough decoder is a decoder that maps only 1 target. It is a special case because it does not impose any constraints on the interleave-math as compared to a decoder with multiple targets. Extend the passthrough case to multi-target-capable decoders that only have one target selected. I.e. the current code was only considering passthrough *ports* which are only a subset of the potential passthrough decoder scenarios. 2023-02-07PCI: Unify delay handling for reset and resumeLukas Wunner
Sheng Bi reports that pci_bridge_secondary_bus_reset() may fail to wait for devices on the secondary bus to become accessible after reset: Although it does call pci_dev_wait(), it erroneously passes the bridge's pci_dev rather than that of a child. The bridge of course is always accessible while its secondary bus is reset, so pci_dev_wait() returns immediately. Sheng Bi proposes introducing a new pci_bridge_secondary_bus_wait() function which is called from pci_bridge_secondary_bus_reset(): https://lore.kernel.org/linux-pci/20220523171517.32407-1-windy.bi.enflame@gmail.com/ However we already have pci_bridge_wait_for_secondary_bus() which does almost exactly what we need. So far it's only called on resume from D3cold (which implies a Fundamental Reset per PCIe r6.0 sec 5.8). Re-using it for Secondary Bus Resets is a leaner and more rational approach than introducing a new function. That only requires a few minor tweaks: - Amend pci_bridge_wait_for_secondary_bus() to await accessibility of the first device on the secondary bus by calling pci_dev_wait() after performing the prescribed delays. pci_dev_wait() needs two parameters, a reset reason and a timeout, which callers must now pass to pci_bridge_wait_for_secondary_bus(). The timeout is 1 sec for resume (PCIe r6.0 sec 6.6.1) and 60 sec for reset (commit 821cdad5c46c ("PCI: Wait up to 60 seconds for device to become ready after FLR")). Introduce a PCI_RESET_WAIT macro for the 1 sec timeout. - Amend pci_bridge_wait_for_secondary_bus() to return 0 on success or -ENOTTY on error for consumption by pci_bridge_secondary_bus_reset(). - Drop an unnecessary 1 sec delay from pci_reset_secondary_bus() which is now performed by pci_bridge_wait_for_secondary_bus(). A static delay this long is only necessary for Conventional PCI, so modern PCIe systems benefit from shorter reset times as a side effect. 2023-02-07PCI/PM: Observe reset delay irrespective of bridge_d3Lukas Wunner
If a PCI bridge is suspended to D3cold upon entering system sleep, resuming it entails a Fundamental Reset per PCIe r6.0 sec 5.8. The delay prescribed after a Fundamental Reset in PCIe r6.0 sec 6.6.1 is sought to be observed by: pci_pm_resume_noirq() pci_pm_bridge_power_up_actions() pci_bridge_wait_for_secondary_bus() However, pci_bridge_wait_for_secondary_bus() bails out if the bridge_d3 flag is not set. That flag indicates whether a bridge is allowed to suspend to D3cold at *runtime*. Hence *no* delay is observed on resume from system sleep if runtime D3cold is forbidden. That doesn't make any sense, so drop the bridge_d3 check from pci_bridge_wait_for_secondary_bus(). The purpose of the bridge_d3 check was probably to avoid delays if a bridge remained in D0 during suspend. However the sole caller of pci_bridge_wait_for_secondary_bus(), pci_pm_bridge_power_up_actions(), is only invoked if the previous power state was D3cold. Hence the additional bridge_d3 check seems superfluous. 2023-02-07PCI: Distribute available resources for root buses, tooMika Westerberg
Previously we distributed spare resources only upon hot-add, so if the initial root bus scan found devices that had not been fully configured by the BIOS, we allocated only enough resources to cover what was then present. If some of those devices were hotplug bridges, we did not leave any additional resource space for future expansion. Distribute the available resources for root buses, too, to make this work the same way as the normal hotplug case. A previous commit to do this was reverted due to a regression reported by Jonathan Cameron: e96e27fc6f79 ("PCI: Distribute available resources for root buses, too") 5632e2beaf9d ("Revert "PCI: Distribute available resources for root buses, too"") This commit changes pci_bridge_resources_not_assigned() to work with bridges that do not have all the resource windows programmed by the boot firmware (previously we expected all I/O, memory and prefetchable memory were programmed). 2023-02-07PCI: Take other bus devices into account when distributing resourcesMika Westerberg
A PCI bridge may reside on a bus with other devices as well. The resource distribution code does not take this into account and therefore it expands the bridge resource windows too much, not leaving space for the other devices (or functions of a multifunction device). This leads to an issue that Jonathan reported when running QEMU with the following topology (QEMU parameters): -device pcie-root-port,port=0,id=root_port13,chassis=0,slot=2 \ -device x3130-upstream,id=sw1,bus=root_port13,multifunction=on \ -device e1000,bus=root_port13,addr=0.1 \ -device xio3130-downstream,id=fun1,bus=sw1,chassis=0,slot=3 \ -device e1000,bus=fun1 The first e1000 NIC here is another function in the switch upstream port. 2023-02-07perf: RISC-V: Improve privilege mode filtering for perfAtish Patra
Currently, the host driver doesn't have any method to identify if the requested perf event is from kvm or bare metal. As KVM runs in HS mode, there are no separate hypervisor privilege mode to distinguish between the attributes for guest/host. Improve the privilege mode filtering by using the event specific config1 field. 2023-02-07perf: RISC-V: Define helper functions expose hpm counter width and countAtish Patra
KVM module needs to know how many hardware counters and the counter width that the platform supports. Otherwise, it will not be able to show optimal value of virtual counters to the guest. The virtual hardware counters also need to have the same width as the logical hardware counters for simplicity. However, there shouldn't be mapping between virtual hardware counters and logical hardware counters. As we don't support hetergeneous harts or counters with different width as of now, the implementation relies on the counter width of the first available programmable counter. There are two flags attemting to guard connector polling: poll_enabled and poll_running. While poll_enabled semantics is clearly defined and fully adhered (mark that drm_kms_helper_poll_init() was called and not finalized by the _fini() call), the poll_running flag doesn't have such clearliness. This flag is used only in drm_helper_probe_single_connector_modes() to guard calling of drm_kms_helper_poll_enable, it doesn't guard the drm_kms_helper_poll_fini(), etc. Change it to only be set if the polling is actually running. Tie HPD enablement to this flag. 2023-02-07net: mscc: ocelot: fix VCAP filters not matching on MAC with "protocol 802.1Q"Vladimir Oltean
Alternative short title: don't instruct the hardware to match on EtherType with "protocol 802.1Q" flower filters. It doesn't work for the reasons detailed below. With a command such as the following: tc filter add dev $swp1 ingress chain $(IS1 2) pref 3 \ protocol 802.1Q flower skip_sw vlan_id 200 src_mac $h1_mac \ action vlan modify id 300 \ action goto chain $(IS2 0 0) the created filter is set by ocelot_flower_parse_key() to be of type OCELOT_VCAP_KEY_ETYPE, and etype is set to {value=0x8100, mask=0xffff}. This gets propagated all the way to is1_entry_set() which commits it to hardware (the VCAP_IS1_HK_ETYPE field of the key). Compare this to the case where src_mac isn't specified - the key type is OCELOT_VCAP_KEY_ANY, and is1_entry_set() doesn't populate VCAP_IS1_HK_ETYPE. The problem is that for VLAN-tagged frames, the hardware interprets the ETYPE field as holding the encapsulated VLAN protocol. So the above filter will only match those packets which have an encapsulated protocol of 0x8100, rather than all packets with VLAN ID 200 and the given src_mac. The reason why this is allowed to occur is because, although we have a block of code in ocelot_flower_parse_key() which sets "match_protocol" to false when VLAN keys are present, that code executes too late. There is another block of code, which executes for Ethernet addresses, and has a "goto finished_key_parsing" and skips the VLAN header parsing. By skipping it, "match_protocol" remains with the value it was initialized with, i.e. "true", and "proto" is set to f->common.protocol, or 0x8100. The concept of ignoring some keys rather than erroring out when they are present but can't be offloaded is dubious in itself, but is present since the initial commit fe3490e6107e ("net: mscc: ocelot: Hardware ofload for tc flower filter"), and it's outside of the scope of this patch to change that. The problem was introduced when the driver started to interpret the flower filter's protocol, and populate the VCAP filter's ETYPE field based on it. To fix this, it is sufficient to move the code that parses the VLAN keys earlier than the "goto finished_key_parsing" instruction. This will ensure that if we have a flower filter with both VLAN and Ethernet address keys, it won't match on ETYPE 0x8100, because the VLAN key parsing sets "match_protocol = false". 2023-02-07net: dsa: mt7530: don't change PVC_EG_TAG when CPU port becomes VLAN-awareVladimir Oltean
Frank reports that in a mt7530 setup where some ports are standalone and some are in a VLAN-aware bridge, 8021q uppers of the standalone ports lose their VLAN tag on xmit, as seen by the link partner. This seems to occur because once the other ports join the VLAN-aware bridge, mt7530_port_vlan_filtering() also calls mt7530_port_set_vlan_aware(ds, cpu_dp->index), and this affects the way that the switch processes the traffic of the standalone port. Relevant is the PVC_EG_TAG bit. The MT7530 documentation says about it: EG_TAG: Incoming Port Egress Tag VLAN Attribution 0: disabled (system default) 1: consistent (keep the original ingress tag attribute) My interpretation is that this setting applies on the ingress port, and "disabled" is basically the normal behavior, where the egress tag format of the packet (tagged or untagged) is decided by the VLAN table (MT7530_VLAN_EGRESS_UNTAG or MT7530_VLAN_EGRESS_TAG). But there is also an option of overriding the system default behavior, and for the egress tagging format of packets to be decided not by the VLAN table, but simply by copying the ingress tag format (if ingress was tagged, egress is tagged; if ingress was untagged, egress is untagged; aka "consistent). This is useful in 2 scenarios: - VLAN-unaware bridge ports will always encounter a miss in the VLAN table. They should forward a packet as-is, though. So we use "consistent" there. See commit e045124e9399 ("net: dsa: mt7530: fix tagged frames pass-through in VLAN-unaware mode"). - Traffic injected from the CPU port. The operating system is in god mode; if it wants a packet to exit as VLAN-tagged, it sends it as VLAN-tagged. Otherwise it sends it as VLAN-untagged*. *This is true only if we don't consider the bridge TX forwarding offload feature, which mt7530 doesn't support. So for now, make the CPU port always stay in "consistent" mode to allow software VLANs to be forwarded to their egress ports with the VLAN tag intact, and not stripped. 2023-02-07drm/client: fix circular reference counting issueChristian König
We reference dump buffers both by their handle as well as their object. The problem is now that when anybody iterates over the DRM framebuffers and exports the underlying GEM objects through DMA-buf we run into a circular reference count situation. The result is that the fbdev handling holds the GEM handle preventing the DMA-buf in the GEM object to be released. This DMA-buf in turn holds a reference to the driver module which on unload would release the fbdev. Break that loop by releasing the handle as soon as the DRM framebuffer object is created. The DRM framebuffer and the DRM client buffer structure still hold a reference to the underlying GEM object preventing its destruction.
