2021-10-27platform/x86: mlx-platform: Add BIOS attributes for CoffeeLake COMEx based ↵Vadim Pasternak
systems Extend systems of class VMOD0010 equipped with CoffeeLake COMEx module with BIOS related attributes to represent various BIOS statuses. These attributes "bios_active_image", "bios_auth_fail", "bios_upgrade_fail", "bios_safe_mode" has been already added to modular system. This all of them are already documented. - "bios_active_image" - location of current active BIOS image (0: Top, 1: Bottom. The reported value should correspond to value expected by OS in case of BIOS safe mode is 0. This bit is related to Intel top-swap feature of DualBios on the same flash. - "bios_auth_fail": BIOS upgrade is failed because provided BIOS image is not signed correctly. - "bios_upgrade_fail" BIOS upgrade is failed by some reason not related to authentication. For example, due to physical SPI flash problem. - "bios_safe_mod": - 0 : if BIOS is booted from a supposed active image; 1 : BIOS safe mechanism was enforced by hardware (CPLD). 2021-10-27platform/x86: mlx-platform: Extend FAN and LED configuration to support new ↵Vadim Pasternak
MQM97xx systems Add support for new system types "MQM97xx", which is based on Mellanox Quantum-2 ASIC. It provides up to 64x400GB/s (IB) full bidirectional bandwidth per port using PAM-4 modulation. The system support 32 OSFP cages that can provide 64x400GB/s per port (two ports/cage). The system fits standard 1U racks. System is equipped with seven fan drawers and with per fan drawer LED on backport panel and uses two-bytes for exposing CPLD Part Number versions. System is recognized by "DMI_BOARD_NAME" match, when this field is set to "VMOD0010". 2021-10-27net: mvneta: drop use of phylink_helper_basex_speed()Russell King (Oracle)
Now that we have a better method to select SFP interface modes, we no longer need to use phylink_helper_basex_speed() in a driver's validation function, and we can also get rid of our hack to indicate both 1000base-X and 2500base-X if the comphy is present to make that work. 2021-10-27net: hns3: change hclge/hclgevf workqueue to WQ_UNBOUND modeYufeng Mo
Currently, the workqueue of hclge/hclgevf is executed on the CPU that initiates scheduling requests by default. In stress scenarios, the CPU may be busy and workqueue scheduling is completed after a long period of time. To avoid this situation and implement proper scheduling, use the WQ_UNBOUND mode instead. 2021-10-27net: hns3: fix pause config problem after autoneg disabledGuangbin Huang
If a TP port is configured by follow steps: 1.ethtool -s ethx autoneg off speed 100 duplex full 2.ethtool -A ethx rx on tx on 3.ethtool -s ethx autoneg on(rx&tx negotiated pause results are off) 4.ethtool -s ethx autoneg off speed 100 duplex full In step 3, driver will set rx&tx pause parameters of hardware to off as pause parameters negotiated with link partner are off. After step 4, the "ethtool -a ethx" command shows both rx and tx pause parameters are on. However, pause parameters of hardware are still off and port has no flow control function actually. To fix this problem, if autoneg is disabled, driver uses its saved parameters to restore pause of hardware. If the speed is not changed in this case, there is no link state changed for phy, it will cause the pause parameter is not taken effect, so we need to force phy to go down and up. usb_control_msg_recv() is a new wrapper function for usb_control_msg() that has error checks for short reads. This function also accepts data buffer on stack. Hence use this function to simplify error handling for short reads. Short reads will now get reported as -EREMOTEIO with no indication of how short the transfer was. 2021-10-27spi: fsi: Fix contention in the FSI2SPI engineEddie James
There was nothing to protect multiple SPI controllers on the same FSI2SPI device from being accessed through the FSI2SPI device at the same time. For example, multiple writes to the command and data registers might occur for different SPI controllers, resulting in complete chaos in the SPI engine. To prevent this, add a FSI2SPI device level mutex and lock it in the SPI register read and write functions. 2021-10-27drm/i915/dp: Ensure max link params are always validImre Deak
Atm until the DPCD for a connector is read the max link rate and lane count params are invalid. If the connector is modeset, in intel_dp_compute_config(), intel_dp_common_len_rate_limit(max_link_rate) will return 0, leading to a intel_dp->common_rates[-1] access. Fix the above by making sure the max link params are always valid. The above access leads to an undefined behaviour by definition, though not causing a user visible problem to my best knowledge, see the previous patch why. Nevertheless it is an undefined behaviour and it triggers a BUG() in CONFIG_UBSAN builds, hence CC:stable. 2021-10-27drm/i915/dp: Ensure sink rate values are always validImre Deak
Atm, there are no sink rate values set for DP (vs. eDP) sinks until the DPCD capabilities are successfully read from the sink. During this time intel_dp->num_common_rates is 0 which can lead to a intel_dp->common_rates[-1] (*) access, which is an undefined behaviour, in the following cases: - In intel_dp_sync_state(), if the encoder is enabled without a sink connected to the encoder's connector (BIOS enabled a monitor, but the user unplugged the monitor until the driver loaded). - In intel_dp_sync_state() if the encoder is enabled with a sink connected, but for some reason the DPCD read has failed. - In intel_dp_compute_link_config() if modesetting a connector without a sink connected on it. - In intel_dp_compute_link_config() if modesetting a connector with a a sink connected on it, but before probing the connector first. To avoid the (*) access in all the above cases, make sure that the sink rate table - and hence the common rate table - is always valid, by setting a default minimum sink rate when registering the connector before anything could use it. I also considered setting all the DP link rates by default, so that modesetting with higher resolution modes also succeeds in the last two cases above. However in case a sink is not connected that would stop working after the first modeset, due to the LT fallback logic. So this would need more work, beyond the scope of this fix. As I mentioned in the previous patch, I don't think the issue this patch fixes is user visible, however it is an undefined behaviour by definition and triggers a BUG() in CONFIG_UBSAN builds, hence CC:stable. v2: Clear the default sink rates, before initializing these for eDP. The previous commit fixed handling of incomplete packets but broke error handling: offsetof returns an unsigned value (size_t), but when compared against the signed return value, the return value is interpreted as if it were unsigned, so negative return values are never less than the offset. To make the code easier to read, calculate the minimal packet length once and separately, and assign it to a signed int variable to eliminate unsigned math and the need for type casts. It then becomes immediately obvious how the actual data length is calculated and why the return value cannot be less than the minimal length. The size of the critical section in this function appears to be larger than necessary. The `wacom_udev_list_lock` exists to ensure that one interface cannot begin checking if a shared object exists while a second interface is doing the same (otherwise both could determine that no object exists yet and create their own independent objects rather than sharing just one). It should be safe for the critical section to end once a fresly-allocated shared object would be found by other threads (i.e., once it has been added to `wacom_udev_list`, which is looped over by `wacom_get_hdev_data`). This commit is a necessary pre-requisite for a later change to swap the use of `devm_add_action` with `devm_add_action_or_reset`, which would otherwise deadlock in its error case. DART has an additional global register to control which streams are isolated. This register is a bit redundant since DART_TCR can already be used to control isolation and is usually initialized to DART_STREAM_ALL by the time we get control. This patch adds a check for if the rumble queue ringbuffer is empty prior to queuing the rumble workqueue. If the current rumble setting is using a non-zero amplitude though, it will queue the worker anyway. This is because the controller will automatically disable the rumble effect if it isn't "refreshed". This change improves bluetooth communication reliability with the controller, since it reduces the amount of traffic. Note that we still send a few periodic zero packets to avoid scenarios where the controller fails to process the zero amplitude packet. This patch limits the rate of subcommands/rumble to once every 25 milliseconds. This patch alters the method that the rumble data is sent to the controller. Rather than using the enable rumble subcommand for this purpose, the driver now employs the RUMBLE_ONLY output report. This has the advantage of not needing to receive a subcommand reply (to the major benefit of reducing IMU latency) and also seems to make the rumble vibrations more continuous. This patch adds support for the joy-con charging grip. The peripheral essentially behaves the same as a pro controller, but with two joy-cons attached to the grip. However the grip exposes the two joy-cons as separate hid devices, so extra handling is required. The joy-con is queried to check if it is a right or left joy-con (since the product ID is identical between left/right when using the grip). The controller occasionally doesn't respond to subcommands. It appears that it's dropping them. To improve reliability, this patch attempts one retry in the case of a synchronous send timeout. In testing, this has resolved all timeout failures (most common for LED setting and rumble setting subcommands). The 1 second timeout is excessively long for rumble and LED subcommands, so the timeout has been made a param for joycon_hid_send_sync. Most subcommands continue to use the 1s timeout, since they can result in long response times. Rumble and LED setting subcommands have been reduced to 250ms, since response times for them are much quicker (and this significantly reduces the observable impact in the case of a retry being required). This patch adds support for controller rumble. The ff_effect weak magnitude is associated with the pro controller's right motor (or with a right joy-con). The strong magnitude is associated with the pro's left motor (or a left joy-con). The rumble data is sent periodically (currently configured for every 50 milliseconds). If the controller receives no rumble data for too long a time period, it will stop vibrating. The data is also sent every time joycon_set_rumble is called to avoid latency of up to 50ms. Because the rumble subcommands are sent in a deferred workqueue (they can't be sent in the play_effect function due to the hid send sleeping), the effects are queued.
