2012-01-07asix: fix infinite loop in rx_fixup()Aurelien Jacobs
At this point if skb->len happens to be 2, the subsequant skb_pull(skb, 4) call won't work and the skb->len won't be decreased and won't ever reach 0, resulting in an infinite loop. With an ASIX 88772 under heavy load, without this patch, rx_fixup() reaches an infinite loop in less than a minute. With this patch applied, no infinite loop even after hours of heavy load. 2012-01-07r6040: fix typo in use of MCR0 register bitsCesar Eduardo Barros
Commit 4e16d6ebd65b4f2c4e3f780b4c5704beef64019c (r6040: define more MCR0 register bits) added #define values for MCR0 register bits and converted uses of hardcoded magic values to uses of these defines. However, one of the conversions looks suspicious: #define MCR0 0x00 /* Control register 0 */ +#define MCR0_RCVEN 0x0002 /* Receive enable */ +#define MCR0_XMTEN 0x1000 /* Transmission enable */ /* Init RDC private data */ - lp->mcr0 = 0x1002; + lp->mcr0 = MCR0_XMTEN | MCR0; I believe what was meant here was MCR0_XMTEN | MCR0_RCVEN, which makes sense and matches the original values. 2012-01-07[media] dvb-bt8xx: convert printks to pr_err()Jonathan Nieder
This module does some printks with the loglevel missing. pr_err() takes care of adding the KERN_ERR tag and the module name. So we can simplify the code and add the missing printk loglevel by using it. Also add a #define pr_fmt() to make this work, and remove a few unnecessary periods at the end of messages and bump the loglevel of "Unknown bttv card type" from KERN_WARNING to KERN_ERR while at it. 2012-01-07[media] dvb: remove bogus modulation checkMauro Carvalho Chehab
This code is wrong as I should have coded it as SYS_DVBC, instead of SYS_DVBS & friends. Anyway, this check has other problems 1) it does some "magic" by assuming that all QAM modulations are below QAM_AUTO; 2) it checks modulation parameters only for one delivery system. Or the core should check invalid parameters for all delivery systems, or it should let the frontend drivers do it; 3) frontend drivers should already be checking for invalid parameters (most of them do it, anyway); 4) not all modulations are mapped at fe->ops.info.caps, so it is not even possible to check for the valid modulations inside the core for some delivery systems; 5) The core check is incomplete anyway: it only checks for a few parameters. If moved into the core other parameters like bandwidth and fec should also be checked; 6) 2nd gen DVB-C uses OFDM. So, that test would fail for it. 2012-01-06PNP: work around Dell 1536/1546 BIOS MMCONFIG bug that breaks USBBjorn Helgaas
Some Dell BIOSes have MCFG tables that don't report the entire MMCONFIG area claimed by the chipset. If we move PCI devices into that claimed-but-unreported area, they don't work. This quirk reads the AMD MMCONFIG MSRs and adds PNP0C01 resources as needed to cover the entire area. Example problem scenario: BIOS-e820: 00000000cfec5400 - 00000000d4000000 (reserved) Fam 10h mmconf [d0000000, dfffffff] PCI: MMCONFIG for domain 0000 [bus 00-3f] at [mem 0xd0000000-0xd3ffffff] (base 0xd0000000) pnp 00:0c: [mem 0xd0000000-0xd3ffffff] pci 0000:00:12.0: reg 10: [mem 0xffb00000-0xffb00fff] pci 0000:00:12.0: no compatible bridge window for [mem 0xffb00000-0xffb00fff] pci 0000:00:12.0: BAR 0: assigned [mem 0xd4000000-0xd40000ff] Reported-by: Lisa Salimbas <lisa.salimbas@canonical.com> Reported-by: <thuban@singularity.fr> Tested-by: dann frazier <dann.frazier@canonical.com> References: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=31602 References: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/647043 References: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=770308 Cc: stable@kernel.org # 2.6.34+ Signed-off-by: Bjorn Helgaas <bhelgaas@google.com> Signed-off-by: Jesse Barnes <jbarnes@virtuousgeek.org>

2012-01-06PCI/PM/Runtime: make PCI traces quieterVincent Palatin
When the runtime PM is activated on PCI, if a device switches state frequently (e.g. an EHCI controller with autosuspending USB devices connected) the PCI configuration traces might be very verbose in the kernel log. Let's guard those traces with DEBUG condition. Acked-by: "Rafael J. 2012-01-06parisc/PCI: lba: deal with LMMIO/PAT overlaps before creating PCI root busBjorn Helgaas
This moves the truncate_pat_collision() call out of the pcibios_fixup_bus() path so that when a future patch builds a list of root bus resources for pci_create_bus(), it can use the truncated LMMIO range. truncate_pat_collision() used to be called in this path: pci_scan_bus_parented pci_create_bus pci_scan_child_bus pcibios_fixup_bus lba_fixup_bus truncate_pat_collision All of the PAT and lba_dev resource setup must be done before we call pci_scan_bus_parented(), so it should be safe to move the truncate_pat_collision() to just before pci_scan_bus_parented(). 2012-01-06PCI: deprecate pci_scan_bus_parented()Bjorn Helgaas
Users of pci_scan_bus_parented() should be converted to use either pci_scan_root_bus() (preferred, but also calls pci_bus_add_devices) or pci_create_root_bus() pci_scan_child_bus() Since pci_scan_bus_parented(), I'm marking it deprecated now and will actually remove it later. 2012-01-06PCI: convert pci_scan_bus_parented() to use pci_create_root_bus()Bjorn Helgaas
This converts pci_scan_bus_parented() to use pci_create_root_bus() instead of pci_create_bus(). The new bus still has the default (incorrect) resources, so this patch doesn't help fix that problem, but it does remove one more use of pci_create_bus().
