2023-08-12soc: aspeed: uart-routing: Use __sysfs_match_stringZev Weiss
The existing use of match_string() caused it to reject 'echo foo' due to the implicitly appended newline, which was somewhat ergonomically awkward and inconsistent with typical sysfs behavior. Using the __sysfs_* variant instead provides more convenient and consistent linefeed-agnostic behavior. SCMI v3.2 adds support for hardware which works on performance indices, instead of levels. Certain platforms use indices to identify performance levels. Level Indexing Mode is used to describe such platform behavior. All commands which utilize performance level as a parameter need to specify the corresponding level index instead of the performance level when Level Indexing Mode is used. 2023-08-12USB: core: Fix oversight in SuperSpeed initializationAlan Stern
Commit 85d07c556216 ("USB: core: Unite old scheme and new scheme descriptor reads") altered the way USB devices are enumerated following detection, and in the process it messed up the initialization of SuperSpeed (or faster) devices: [ 31.650759] usb 2-1: new SuperSpeed Plus Gen 2x1 USB device number 2 using xhci_hcd [ 31.663107] usb 2-1: device descriptor read/8, error -71 [ 31.952697] usb 2-1: new SuperSpeed Plus Gen 2x1 USB device number 3 using xhci_hcd [ 31.965122] usb 2-1: device descriptor read/8, error -71 [ 32.080991] usb usb2-port1: attempt power cycle ... The problem was caused by the commit forgetting that in SuperSpeed or faster devices, the device descriptor uses a logarithmic encoding of the bMaxPacketSize0 value. (For some reason I thought the 255 case in the switch statement was meant for these devices, but it isn't -- it was meant for Wireless USB and is no longer needed.) We can fix the oversight by testing for buf->bMaxPacketSize0 = 9 (meaning 512, the actual maxpacket size for ep0 on all SuperSpeed devices) and straightening out the logic that checks and adjusts our initial guesses of the maxpacket value. 2023-08-12usb: host: ehci-sched: try to turn on io watchdog as long as periodic_count > 0Xu Yang
If initially isoc_count = 0, periodic_count > 0 and the io watchdog is not started (e.g. just timed out), then the io watchdog may not run after submitting isoc urbs and enable_periodic(). The isoc urbs may not complete forever if the controller had already stopped periodic schedule. This will try to call turn_on_io_watchdog() for each enable_periodic() to ensure the io watchdog functions properly. 2023-08-11hv_balloon: Update the balloon driver to use the SBRM APIMitchell Levy
This patch is intended as a proof-of-concept for the new SBRM machinery[1]. For some brief background, the idea behind SBRM is using the __cleanup__ attribute to automatically unlock locks (or otherwise release resources) when they go out of scope, similar to C++ style RAII. This promises some benefits such as making code simpler (particularly where you have lots of goto fail; type constructs) as well as reducing the surface area for certain kinds of bugs. The changes in this patch should not result in any difference in how the code actually runs (i.e., it's purely an exercise in this new syntax sugar). In one instance SBRM was not appropriate, so I left that part alone, but all other locking/unlocking is handled automatically in this patch. 2023-08-11serial: core: Fix serial core port id, including multiport devicesTony Lindgren
We want to fix the serial core port DEVNAME to use a port id of the hardware specific controller port instance instead of the port->line. For example, the 8250 driver sets up a number of serial8250 ports initially that can be inherited by the hardware specific driver. At that the port->line no longer decribes the port's relation to the serial core controller instance. Let's fix the issue by assigning port->port_id for each serial core controller port instance.
