2023-08-11nvme: core: don't hold rcu read lock in nvme_ns_chr_uring_cmd_iopollMing Lei
Now nvme_ns_chr_uring_cmd_iopoll() has switched to request based io polling, and the associated NS is guaranteed to be live in case of io polling, so request is guaranteed to be valid because blk-mq uses pre-allocated request pool. Remove the rcu read lock in nvme_ns_chr_uring_cmd_iopoll(), which isn't needed any more after switching to request based io polling. Fix "BUG: sleeping function called from invalid context" because set_page_dirty_lock() from blk_rq_unmap_user() may sleep. The regmap API supports IO port accessors so we can take advantage of regmap abstractions rather than handling access to the device registers directly in the driver. The WinSystems WS16C48 provides the following registers: Offset 0x0-0x5: Port 0-5 I/O Offset 0x6: Int_Pending Offset 0x7: Page/Lock Offset 0x8-0xA (Page 1): Pol_0-Pol_2 Offset 0x8-0xA (Page 2): Enab_0-Enab_2 Offset 0x8-0xA (Page 3): Int_ID0-Int_ID2 Port 0-5 I/O provides access to 48 lines of digital I/O across six registers, each bit position corresponding to the respective line. Writing a 1 to a respective bit position causes that output pin to sink current, while writing a 0 to the same bit position causes that output pin to go to a high-impedance state and allows it to be used an input. Reads on a port report the inverted state (0 = high, 1 = low) of an I/O pin when used in input mode. Interrupts are supported on Port 0-2. Int_Pending is a read-only register that reports the combined state of the INT_ID0 through INT_ID2 registers; an interrupt pending is indicated when any of the low three bits are set. The Page/Lock register provides the following bits: Bit 0-5: Port 0-5 I/O Lock Bit 6-7: Page 0-3 Selection For Bits 0-5, writing a 1 to a respective bit position locks the output state of the corresponding I/O port. Writing the page number to Bits 6-7 selects that respective register page for use. Pol_0-Pol_2 are accessible when Page 1 is selected. Writing a 1 to a respective bit position selects the rising edge detection interrupts for that input line, while writing a 0 to the same bit position selects the falling edge detection interrupts. Enab_0-Enab_2 are accessible when Page 2 is selected. Writing a 1 to a respective bit position enables interrupts for that input line, while writing a 0 to that same bit position clears and disables interrupts for that input line. Int_ID0-Int_ID2 are accessible when Page 3 is selected. A respective bit when read as a 1 indicates that an edge of the polarity set in the corresponding polarity register was detected for the corresponding input line. Writing any value to this register clears all pending interrupts for the register. The regmap API supports IO port accessors so we can take advantage of regmap abstractions rather than handling access to the device registers directly in the driver. For the PCIe-IDIO-24 series of devices, the following BARs are available: BAR[0]: memory mapped PEX8311 BAR[1]: I/O mapped PEX8311 BAR[2]: I/O mapped card registers There are 24 FET Output lines, 24 Isolated Input lines, and 8 TTL/CMOS lines (which may be configured for either output or input). The GPIO lines are exposed by the following card registers: Base +0x0-0x2 (Read/Write): FET Outputs Base +0xB (Read/Write): TTL/CMOS Base +0x4-0x6 (Read): Isolated Inputs Base +0x7 (Read): TTL/CMOS In order for the device to support interrupts, the PLX PEX8311 internal PCI wire interrupt and local interrupt input must first be enabled. The following card registers for Change-Of-State may be used: Base +0x8-0xA (Read): COS Status Inputs Base +0x8-0xA (Write): COS Clear Inputs Base +0xB (Read): COS Status TTL/CMOS Base +0xB (Write): COS Clear TTL/CMOS Base +0xE (Read/Write): COS Enable The COS Enable register is used to enable/disable interrupts and configure the interrupt levels; each bit maps to a group of eight inputs as described below: Bit 0: IRQ EN Rising Edge IN0-7 Bit 1: IRQ EN Rising Edge IN8-15 Bit 2: IRQ EN Rising Edge IN16-23 Bit 3: IRQ EN Rising Edge TTL0-7 Bit 4: IRQ EN Falling Edge IN0-7 Bit 5: IRQ EN Falling Edge IN8-15 Bit 6: IRQ EN Falling Edge IN16-23 Bit 7: IRQ EN Falling Edge TTL0-7 An interrupt is asserted when a change-of-state matching the interrupt level configuration respective for a particular group of eight inputs with enabled COS is detected. The COS Status registers may be read to determine which inputs have changed; if interrupts were enabled, an IRQ will be generated for the set bits in these registers. Writing the value read from the COS Status register back to the respective COS Clear register will clear just those interrupts. The regmap API supports IO port accessors so we can take advantage of regmap abstractions rather than handling access to the device registers directly in the driver. By leveraging the regmap API, the idio-16 library is reduced to simply a devm_idio_16_regmap_register() function and a configuration structure struct idio_16_regmap_config. Legacy functions and code will be removed once all consumers have migrated to the new idio-16 library interface. For IDIO-16 devices we have the following IRQ registers: Base Address +1 (Write): Clear Interrupt Base Address +2 (Read): Enable Interrupt Base Address +2 (Write): Disable Interrupt An interrupt is asserted whenever a change-of-state is detected on any of the inputs. Any write to 0x2 will disable interrupts, while any read will enable interrupts. Interrupts are cleared by a write to 0x1. For 104-IDIO-16 devices, there is no IRQ status register, so software has to assume that if an interrupt is raised then it was for the 104-IDIO-16 device. For PCI-IDIO-16 devices, there is an additional IRQ register: Base Address +6 (Read): Interrupt Status Interrupt status can be read from 0x6 where bit 2 set indicates that an IRQ has been generated. 2023-08-11crypto: stm32 - Convert to platform remove callback returning voidUwe Kleine-König
The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by returning an error code. However the value returned is ignored (apart from emitting a warning) and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new() which already returns void. Eventually after all drivers are converted, .remove_new() is renamed to .remove(). Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove callback to the void returning variant. 2023-08-11crypto: stm32 - Properly handle pm_runtime_get failingUwe Kleine-König
If pm_runtime_get() (disguised as pm_runtime_resume_and_get()) fails, this means the clk wasn't prepared and enabled. Returning early in this case however is wrong as then the following resource frees are skipped and this is never catched up. So do all the cleanups but clk_disable_unprepare(). Also don't emit a warning, as stm32_hash_runtime_resume() already emitted one. Note that the return value of stm32_hash_remove() is mostly ignored by the device core. The only effect of returning zero instead of an error value is to suppress another warning in platform_remove(). So return 0 even if pm_runtime_resume_and_get() failed. When running vlan test (bridge_vlan_aware/unaware.sh), there were some failure due to the lack .port_bridge_flag function to disable port flooding. Implement this operation for BR_LEARNING, BR_FLOOD, BR_MCAST_FLOOD and BR_BCAST_FLOOD. Since .port_bridge_flags affects the bits disabling learning for a port, ensure that any other modification on the same register done by a5psw_port_stp_state_set is in sync by using the port learning state to enable/disable learning on the port. 2023-08-11octeontx2-pf: Allow both ntuple and TC features on the interfaceHariprasad Kelam
The current implementation does not allow the user to enable both hw-tc-offload and ntuple features on the interface. These checks are added as TC flower offload and ntuple features internally configures the same hardware resource MCAM. But TC HTB offload configures the transmit scheduler which can be safely enabled on the interface with ntuple feature. This patch adds the same and ensures only TC flower offload and ntuple features are mutually exclusive. In bond_reset_slave_arr(), values are assigned and memory is released only when the variables "usable" and "all" are not NULL. But even if the "usable" and "all" variables are NULL, they can still work, because value will be checked in kfree_rcu. Implement control plane mailbox versions for host and firmware. Versions are published in info area of control mailbox bar4 memory structure.Firmware will publish minimum and maximum supported versions.Control plane mailbox apis will check for firmware version before sending any control commands to firmware. 2023-08-11virtio-net: set queues after driver_okJason Wang
Commit 25266128fe16 ("virtio-net: fix race between set queues and probe") tries to fix the race between set queues and probe by calling _virtnet_set_queues() before DRIVER_OK is set. This violates virtio spec. Fixing this by setting queues after virtio_device_ready(). Note that rtnl needs to be held for userspace requests to change the number of queues. 2023-08-11soundwire: intel_auxdevice: add hybrid IDA-based device_number allocationPierre-Louis Bossart
The IDA-based allocation is useful to simplify debug, but it was also introduced as a prerequisite to deal with the Intel Lunar Lake hardware programming sequences: the wake-ups have to be handled with a system-unique SDI address at the HDaudio controller level. At the time, the restriction introduced by the IDA to 8 devices total seemed perfectly fine, but recently hardware vendors created configurations with more than 8 devices. Add a new allocation strategy to allow for more than 8 devices using information on the type of devices, and only use the IDA-based allocation for devices capable of generating a wake. In theory the information on wake capabilities should come from firmware, but none of the existing ACPI tables provide it. The drivers set the 'wake_capable' property, but this cannot be used reliably: if the driver probe happens *after* the enumeration, then that property is not initialized yet. Trying to modify the device_number on-the-fly proved to be an impossible task generating race conditions left and right. The only reliable work-around to control the enumeration is to add a quirk table. It's ugly but until platform firmware improves, hopefully as a result of MIPI/SDCA stardization, we can expect that quirk table to grow for each new headset or microphone codec. Rather than add logic in the core for vendor-specific usages, add callbacks for vendor-specific device_number allocation and release. This patch only moves the existing IDA-based allocator used only by Intel to the intel_auxdevice.c file and does not change the functionality. Follow-up patches will extend the behavior by modifying the Intel callbacks. The SoundWire bus is handled with a dedicated device, which is placed between the Intel auxiliary device and peripheral devices, e.g. soundwire_intel.link.0/sdw-master-0/sdw:0:025d:0711:01 The functionality of this 'sdw-master' device is limited, specifically for pm_runtime the ASoC framework will not rely on pm_runtime_get_sync() since it does not register any components. It will only change status thanks to the parent-child relationship which guarantees that the 'sdw-master' device will be pm_runtime resumed before any peripheral device. However on startup and system resume it's possible that only the auxiliary device is pm_runtime active, and the peripheral will only become active during its io_init routine, leading to another occurrence of the error reported by the pm_runtime framework: rt711 sdw:0:025d:0711:00: runtime PM trying to activate child device sdw:0:025d:0711:00 but parent (sdw-master-0) is not active This patch suggests aligning the sdw-master device status to that of the auxiliary device. The difference between the two is completely notional and their pm_status shouldn't be different during the startup and system resume steps. This problem was exposed by recent changes in the timing of the bus reset, but was present in this driver since we introduced pm_runtime support. As soon as the bus starts, physical peripheral devices may report as ATTACHED and set their status with pm_runtime_set_active() in their update_status()/io_init(). This is problematic with the existing code, since the parent pm_runtime status is changed to "active" after starting the bus.
