Minor 0 is the VFIO container device (/dev/vfio/vfio). On it's own
the container does not provide a user with any privileged access. It
only supports API version check and extension check ioctls. Only by
attaching a VFIO group to the container does it gain any access. Set
the mode of the container to allow access.

With the commit a11fbba (net/cpsw: fix irq_disable() with threaded interrupts)
from Sebastian Siewior, a kernel warning is generated as below. This warning
is generated as the irq_enabled is not initialized for the primary interface
and in probe it is initialized for the second interface. This patch moves
irq_enabled initialization from second interface to primary interface.

On Renesas R-Car based development boards, although a MAC address is printed on
all the Ethernet port labels, U-Boot doesn't write a valid MAC address to the
Ether MAHR/MALR registers (there's no storage provided for the Ether MAC address
either), so we have to resort to using a random MAC address...

The venerable 3c509 driver only sets its device parent in one case, the ISAPnP one.
It does this with the SET_NETDEV_DEV function. It should register with the device
hierarchy in two additional cases: standard (non-PnP) ISA and EISA.
- Currently they appear here:
/sys/devices/virtual/net/eth0 (standard ISA)
/sys/devices/virtual/net/eth1 (EISA)
- Rather, they should instead be here:
/sys/devices/isa/3c509.0/net/eth0 (standard ISA)
/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:07.0/00:04/net/eth1 (EISA)
Tested on ISA and EISA boards.

We were doing spin_lock_irq and spin_unlock_irq. This is STOOPID.
If we were in interupt context we were already screwed and called
panic() in do_exit(). So the irq stuff is useless. Also, these values
can only be changed by receiving a netlink message from current. Since
we are in do_exit() clearly we aren't in the syscall sending the netlink
message to change these values. Thus, just read them and go with it.

current->signal->audit_* can only change from a netlink message from
current. Obviously in this case we cannot be handling a netlink message
from current. So there is no change these can change under us. No need
to take a lock to read them.

Most commands are entered one line at a time and processed as complete lines
in non-canonical mode. Commands that interactively require a password, enter
canonical mode to do this while shutting off echo. This pair of features
(icanon and !echo) can be used to avoid logging passwords by audit while still
logging the rest of the command.
Adding a member (log_passwd) to the struct audit_tty_status passed in by
pam_tty_audit allows control of canonical mode without echo per task.

Some of the callers of the audit tty function use spin_lock_irqsave/restore.
We were using the forced always enable version, which seems really bad.
Since I don't know every one of these code paths well enough, it makes
sense to just switch everything to the safe version. Maybe it's a
little overzealous, but it's a lot better than an unlucky deadlock when
we return to a caller with irq enabled and they expect it to be
disabled.

A stack trace is an invaluable tool in determining the basis
and cause of PHY regs read/write failures.

Many of the error messages possible from bus_reset_work() do not
contain enough information to distinguish which error condition
occurred nor enough information to evaluate the error afterwards.
Differentiate all error conditions in bus_reset_work(); add
additional information to make error diagnosis possible.

With the LSI FW643 rev 8 [1], the first commanded bus reset at
the conclusion of ohci_enable() has been observed to fail with
the following messages:

With drivers/firewire/ohci.c instrumented, the error condition [2]
indicates the PHY arbitration state machine has timed out prior to
enabling PHY LCtrl.
Furthermore, instrumenting ohci_enable() shows that LPS has been
enabled within 1 ms.
Test LPS latching every 1 ms rather than every 50ms.

The "+" operation has higher precedence than "?:" and ->msi_cap is
always non-zero here so the original statement is equivalent to:

- allocate timer ID per process, so that exact timer ID allocations

- debuggability and tooling (/proc/PID/timers, etc.) improvements.
- suspend/resume enhancements by Feng Tang: on certain new Intel Atom
processors (Penwell and Cloverview), there is a feature that the
TSC won't stop in S3 state, so the TSC value won't be reset to 0
after resume. This can be taken advantage of by the generic via
the CLOCK_SOURCE_SUSPEND_NONSTOP flag: instead of using the RTC to
recover/approximate sleep time, the main (and precise) clocksource
can be used.
- Fix /proc/timer_list for 4096 CPUs by Nathan Zimmer: on so many
CPUs the file goes beyond 4MB of size and thus the current
simplistic seqfile approach fails. Convert /proc/timer_list to a
proper seq_file with its own iterator.
- Cleanups and refactorings of the core timekeeping code by John
Stultz.
- International Atomic Clock time is managed by the NTP code
internally currently but not exposed externally. Separate the TAI
code out and add CLOCK_TAI support and TAI support to the hrtimer
and posix-timer code, by John Stultz.
- Add deep idle support enhacement to the broadcast clockevents core
timer code, by Daniel Lezcano: add an opt-in CLOCK_EVT_FEAT_DYNIRQ
clockevents feature (which will be utilized by future clockevents
driver updates), which allows the use of IRQ affinities to avoid
spurious wakeups of idle CPUs - the right CPU with an expiring
timer will be woken.

The intent is that if we aren't allowed to block because we're in an
NMI or an emergency then we only take the lock if it is uncontended.
Part of the problem is the test is reversed so we return -EBUSY if we
acquire the lock.

Seiji reported getting empty dmesg-* files, because the data was never
actually read in efi_pstore_read_func(), and so the memcpy() was copying
garbage data.
This patch necessitated adding __efivar_entry_get() which is callable
between efivar_entry_iter_{begin,end}(). We can also delete
__efivar_entry_size() because efi_pstore_read_func() was the only
caller.

Commit cc014f3 (mmc: sdhci-s3c: remove platform dependencies) changed
the platform dependency in Kconfig to depend on SAMSUNG_SINGLE, meaning
the driver was available only on single zImage Samsung platforms. This
breaks platforms that haven't been converted such as S3C64xx. Revert
that part of the change to fix.
[arnd: CONFIG_SAMSUNG_SINGLE was actually introduced only for
non-multiplatform configurations, but was subsequently removed,
which means the driver was now broken both for single- and multi-
platform. The dependency was there by accident anyway, so reverting
this is still the correct solution]

helpers and iterators for hole handling have been introduced with some
debug BUG_ONs sprinkled over. Unfortunately this broke the mm dumper
which unconditionally tried to compute the size of the very first
hole.
While at it unify the code a bit with the hole dumping in the loop.

Add CONFIG_PM_SLEEP to suspend/resume functions to fix the following
build warning when CONFIG_PM_SLEEP is not selected. This is because
sleep PM callbacks defined by SIMPLE_DEV_PM_OPS are only used when
the CONFIG_PM_SLEEP is enabled.

This patch adds Kconfig in the drivers/dma/sh. This patch also adds
a new config "SH_DMAE_BASE" and the "config SH_DMAE" depends on it.
Since some drivers (e.g. sh_mmcif.c) depends on shdma-base.c if
CONFIG_DMA_ENGINE=y, the "config SH_DMAE_BASE" is set as "bool".

As we recompute the remaining timeout after waiting, there is a
potential for that timeout to be less than zero and so need sanitizing.
The timeout is always returned to userspace and validated, so we should
always perform the sanitation.

Update at_hdmac driver to support generic DMA device tree binding. Devices
can still request channel with dma_request_channel() then it doesn't break

Accesses to hid_device->hid_debug_list are not serialized properly, which
could result in SMP concurrency issues when HID debugfs events are accessesed
by multiple userspace processess.
Serialize all the list operations by a mutex.

In SSD/hard disk hybid storage, discard request should be ignored for hard
disk. We used to be doing this way, but the unplug path forgets it.
This is suitable for stable tree since v3.6.
