2023-03-14loop: Fix use-after-free issuesBart Van Assche
do_req_filebacked() calls blk_mq_complete_request() synchronously or asynchronously when using asynchronous I/O unless memory allocation fails. Hence, modify loop_handle_cmd() such that it does not dereference 'cmd' nor 'rq' after do_req_filebacked() finished unless we are sure that the request has not yet been completed. 2023-03-14ACPI: PPTT: Fix to avoid sleep in the atomic context when PPTT is absentSudeep Holla
Commit 0c80f9e165f8 ("ACPI: PPTT: Leave the table mapped for the runtime usage") enabled to map PPTT once on the first invocation of acpi_get_pptt() and never unmapped the same allowing it to be used at runtime with out the hassle of mapping and unmapping the table. This was needed to fetch LLC information from the PPTT in the cpuhotplug path which is executed in the atomic context as the acpi_get_table() might sleep waiting for a mutex. 2023-03-14fbdev: tgafb: Fix potential divide by zeroWei Chen
fb_set_var would by called when user invokes ioctl with cmd FBIOPUT_VSCREENINFO. User-provided data would finally reach tgafb_check_var. In case var->pixclock is assigned to zero, divide by zero would occur when checking whether reciprocal of var->pixclock is too high. Similar crashes have happened in other fbdev drivers. There is no check and modification on var->pixclock along the call chain to tgafb_check_var. We believe it could also be triggered in driver tgafb from user site. The VCN firmware loading path enables the indirect SRAM mode if it's advertised as supported. We might have some cases of FW issues that prevents this mode to working properly though, ending-up in a failed probe. So, let's add a quirk on VCN loading that checks for known problematic BIOSes on Vangogh, so we can proactively disable the indirect SRAM mode and allow the HW proper probe and VCN IP block to work fine. 2023-03-14drm/amd/display: Write to correct dirty_rectBenjamin Cheng
When FB_DAMAGE_CLIPS are provided in a non-MPO scenario, the loop does not use the counter i. This causes the fill_dc_dity_rect() to always fill dirty_rects[0], causing graphical artifacts when a damage clip aware DRM client sends more than 1 damage clip. Instead, use the flip_addrs->dirty_rect_count which is incremented by fill_dc_dirty_rect() on a successful fill. 2023-03-14drm/amd/display: Fix HDCP failing to enable after suspendBhawanpreet Lakha
[Why] On resume some displays are not ready for HDCP, so they will fail if we start the hdcp authentintication too soon. Add a delay so that the displays can be ready before we start. NOTE: Previoulsy this delay was set to 3 seconds but it was causing issues with compliance, 2 seconds should enough for compliance and the s3 resume case. [How] Change the Delay to 2 seconds. Always setup overdrive tables after resume. Preserve only some user-defined settings in user_overdrive_table if they're set. Copy restored user_overdrive_table into od_table to get correct values. On cold boot, BTC was triggered and GfxVfCurve was calibrated. We got VfCurve settings (a). On resuming back, BTC will be triggered again and GfxVfCurve will be recalibrated. VfCurve settings (b) got may be different from those of cold boot. So if we reuse those VfCurve settings (a) got on cold boot on suspend, we can run into discrepencies. If bus type is other than imx50_weim_devtype and have no child devices, variable 'ret' in function weim_parse_dt() will not be initialized, but will be used as branch condition and return value. 2023-03-13net: ipa: fix a surprising number of bad offsetsAlex Elder
A recent commit eliminated a hack that adjusted the offset used for many GSI registers. It became possible because we now specify all GSI register offsets explicitly for every version of IPA. Unfortunately, a large number of register offsets were *not* updated as they should have been in that commit. For IPA v4.5+, the offset for every GSI register *except* the two inter-EE interrupt masking registers were supposed to have been reduced by 0xd000. 2023-03-13net: dsa: mt7530: set PLL frequency and trgmii only when trgmii is usedArınç ÜNAL
As my testing on the MCM MT7530 switch on MT7621 SoC shows, setting the PLL frequency does not affect MII modes other than trgmii on port 5 and port 6. So the assumption is that the operation here called "setting the PLL frequency" actually sets the frequency of the TRGMII TX clock. Make it so that it and the rest of the trgmii setup run only when the trgmii mode is used. Tested rgmii and trgmii modes of port 6 on MCM MT7530 on MT7621AT Unielec U7621-06 and standalone MT7530 on MT7623NI Bananapi BPI-R2. 2023-03-13net: virtio_net: implement exact header length guest featureJiri Pirko
Virtio spec introduced a feature VIRTIO_NET_F_GUEST_HDRLEN which when set implicates that device benefits from knowing the exact size of the header. For compatibility, to signal to the device that the header is reliable driver also needs to set this feature. Without this feature set by driver, device has to figure out the header size itself. Quoting the original virtio spec: "hdr_len is a hint to the device as to how much of the header needs to be kept to copy into each packet" "a hint" might not be clear for the reader what does it mean, if it is "maybe like that" of "exactly like that". This feature just makes it crystal clear and let the device count on the hdr_len being filled up by the exact length of header. Also note the spec already has following note about hdr_len: "Due to various bugs in implementations, this field is not useful as a guarantee of the transport header size." Without this feature the device needs to parse the header in core data path handling. Accurate information helps the device to eliminate such header parsing and directly use the hardware accelerators for GSO operation. virtio_net_hdr_from_skb() fills up hdr_len to skb_headlen(skb). The driver already complies to fill the correct value. Introduce the feature and advertise it. Note that virtio spec also includes following note for device implementation: "Caution should be taken by the implementation so as to prevent a malicious driver from attacking the device by setting an incorrect hdr_len." There is a plan to support this feature in our emulated device. A device of SolidRun offers this feature bit. They claim this feature will save the device a few cycles for every GSO packet. 2023-03-13net: phy: micrel: Add support for PTP_PF_PEROUT for lan8841Horatiu Vultur
Lan8841 has 10 GPIOs and it has 2 events(EVENT_A and EVENT_B). It is possible to assigned the 2 events to any of the GPIOs, but a GPIO can have only 1 event at a time. These events are used to generate periodic signals. It is possible to configure the length, the start time and the period of the signal by configuring the event. Currently the SW uses only EVENT_A to generate the perout. These events are generated by comparing the target time with the PHC time. In case the PHC time is changed to a value bigger than the target time + reload time, then it would generate only 1 event and then it would stop because target time + reload time is small than PHC time. Therefore it is required to change also the target time every time when the PHC is changed. The same will apply also when the PHC time is changed to a smaller value. Commit 732ea9db9d8a ("efi: libstub: Move screen_info handling to common code") reorganized the earlycon handling so that all architectures pass the screen_info data via a EFI config table instead of populating struct screen_info directly, as the latter is only possible when the EFI stub is baked into the kernel (and not into the decompressor). However, this means that struct screen_info may not have been populated yet by the time the earlycon probe takes place, and this results in a non-functional early console. So let's probe again right after parsing the config tables and populating struct screen_info. Note that this means that earlycon output starts a bit later than before, and so it may fail to capture issues that occur while doing the early EFI initialization. slot_store() uses kstrtouint() to get a slot number, but stores the result in an "int" variable (by casting a pointer). This can result in a negative slot number if the unsigned int value is very large. A negative number means that the slot is empty, but setting a negative slot number this way will not remove the device from the array. I don't think this is a serious problem, but it could cause confusion and it is best to fix it.
