2018-06-03bpf: implement bpf_get_current_cgroup_id() helperYonghong Song
bpf has been used extensively for tracing. For example, bcc contains an almost full set of bpf-based tools to trace kernel and user functions/events. Most tracing tools are currently either filtered based on pid or system-wide. Containers have been used quite extensively in industry and cgroup is often used together to provide resource isolation and protection. Several processes may run inside the same container. It is often desirable to get container-level tracing results as well, e.g. syscall count, function count, I/O activity, etc. This patch implements a new helper, bpf_get_current_cgroup_id(), which will return cgroup id based on the cgroup within which the current task is running. The later patch will provide an example to show that userspace can get the same cgroup id so it could configure a filter or policy in the bpf program based on task cgroup id. The helper is currently implemented for tracing. It can be added to other program types as well when needed. 2018-06-03xdp: add flags argument to ndo_xdp_xmit APIJesper Dangaard Brouer
This patch only change the API and reject any use of flags. This is an intermediate step that allows us to implement the flush flag operation later, for each individual driver in a separate patch. The plan is to implement flush operation via XDP_XMIT_FLUSH flag and then remove XDP_XMIT_FLAGS_NONE when done. 2018-06-03bpf: avoid retpoline for lookup/update/delete calls on mapsDaniel Borkmann
While some of the BPF map lookup helpers provide a ->map_gen_lookup() callback for inlining the map lookup altogether it is not available for every map, so the remaining ones have to call bpf_map_lookup_elem() helper which does a dispatch to map->ops->map_lookup_elem(). In times of retpolines, this will control and trap speculative execution rather than letting it do its work for the indirect call and will therefore cause a slowdown. Likewise, bpf_map_update_elem() and bpf_map_delete_elem() do not have an inlined version and need to call into their map->ops->map_update_elem() resp. map->ops->map_delete_elem() handlers. 2018-06-02block: don't use blocking queue entered for recursive bio submitsJens Axboe
If we end up splitting a bio and the queue goes away between the initial submission and the later split submission, then we can block forever in blk_queue_enter() waiting for the reference to drop to zero. This will never happen, since we already hold a reference. Mark a split bio as already having entered the queue, so we can just use the live non-blocking queue enter variant. 2018-06-02PCI/DPC: Use the generic pcie_do_fatal_recovery() pathOza Pawandeep
Our goal is to handle ERR_FATAL errors similarly, whether they are reported via AER or via DPC. A previous commit changed AER so it handles ERR_FATAL by calling driver .remove() methods and resetting the Link. DPC already does that (although the Link reset is done automatically by hardware and happens before we call the driver .remove() methods). Restructure the DPC code so it calls the same pcie_do_fatal_recovery() interface used by AER. This makes it clearer that we want to use the same path. Implement the .reset_link() method used by pcie_do_fatal_recovery(). For DPC, the actual reset is done automatically by hardware, so we really only have to wait for the Link to be inactive, then release the Port from DPC. Previously pciehp_is_native() returned true for any PCI device in a hierarchy where _OSC says we can use pciehp. This is incorrect because bridges without PCI_EXP_SLTCAP_HPC capability should be managed by acpiphp instead. Improve pciehp_is_native() to return true only when PCI_EXP_SLTCAP_HPC is set and the pciehp driver is present. In any other case return false to let acpiphp handle those. For the upcoming removal of buffer heads in XFS we need to keep track of the number of outstanding writeback requests per page. For this we need to know if bio_add_page merged a region with the previous bvec or not. Instead of adding additional arguments this refactors bio_add_page to be implemented using three lower level helpers which users like XFS can use directly if they care about the merge decisions. 2018-06-01kvm: Make VM ioctl do valloc for some archsMarc Orr
The kvm struct has been bloating. For example, it's tens of kilo-bytes for x86, which turns out to be a large amount of memory to allocate contiguously via kzalloc. Thus, this patch does the following: 1. Uses architecture-specific routines to allocate the kvm struct via vzalloc for x86. 2. Switches arm to __KVM_HAVE_ARCH_VM_ALLOC so that it can use vzalloc when has_vhe() is true. Other architectures continue to default to kalloc, as they have a dependency on kalloc or have a small-enough struct kvm. 2018-06-01lightnvm: pass flag on graceful teardown to targetsJavier González
If the namespace is unregistered before the LightNVM target is removed (e.g., on hot unplug) it is too late for the target to store any metadata on the device - any attempt to write to the device will fail. In this case, pass on a "gracefull teardown" flag to the target to let it know when this happens. In the case of pblk, we pad the open line (close all open chunks) to improve data retention. In the event of an ungraceful shutdown, avoid this part and just clean up. 2018-06-01netfilter: nf_tables: fix chain dependency validationPablo Neira Ayuso
The following ruleset: add table ip filter add chain ip filter input { type filter hook input priority 4; } add chain ip filter ap add rule ip filter input jump ap add rule ip filter ap masquerade results in a panic, because the masquerade extension should be rejected from the filter chain. The existing validation is missing a chain dependency check when the rule is added to the non-base chain. This patch fixes the problem by walking down the rules from the basechains, searching for either immediate or lookup expressions, then jumping to non-base chains and again walking down the rules to perform the expression validation, so we make sure the full ruleset graph is validated. This is done only once from the commit phase, in case of problem, we abort the transaction and perform fine grain validation for error reporting. This patch requires 003087911af2 ("netfilter: nfnetlink: allow commit to fail") to achieve this behaviour. This patch also adds a cleanup callback to nfnl batch interface to reset the validate state from the exit path. As a result of this patch, nf_tables_check_loops() doesn't use ->validate to check for loops, instead it just checks for immediate expressions. 2018-05-31compiler.h: enable builtin overflow checkers and add fallback codeRasmus Villemoes
This adds wrappers for the __builtin overflow checkers present in gcc 5.1+ as well as fallback implementations for earlier compilers. It's not that easy to implement the fully generic __builtin_X_overflow(T1 a, T2 b, T3 *d) in macros, so the fallback code assumes that T1, T2 and T3 are the same. We obviously don't want the wrappers to have different semantics depending on $GCC_VERSION, so we also insist on that even when using the builtins. There are a few problems with the 'a+b < a' idiom for checking for overflow: For signed types, it relies on undefined behaviour and is not actually complete (it doesn't check underflow; e.g. INT_MIN+INT_MIN == 0 isn't caught). Due to type promotion it is wrong for all types (signed and unsigned) narrower than int. Similarly, when a and b does not have the same type, there are subtle cases like u32 a; if (a + sizeof(foo) < a) return -EOVERFLOW; a += sizeof(foo); where the test is always false on 64 bit platforms. Add to that that it is not always possible to determine the types involved at a glance. The new overflow.h is somewhat bulky, but that's mostly a result of trying to be type-generic, complete (e.g. catching not only overflow but also signed underflow) and not relying on undefined behaviour. Linus is of course right [1] that for unsigned subtraction a-b, the right way to check for overflow (underflow) is "b > a" and not "__builtin_sub_overflow(a, b, &d)", but that's just one out of six cases covered here, and included mostly for completeness. So is it worth it? I think it is, if nothing else for the documentation value of seeing if (check_add_overflow(a, b, &d)) return -EGOAWAY; do_stuff_with(d); instead of the open-coded (and possibly wrong and/or incomplete and/or UBsan-tickling) if (a+b < a) return -EGOAWAY; do_stuff_with(a+b); While gcc does recognize the 'a+b < a' idiom for testing unsigned add overflow, it doesn't do nearly as good for unsigned multiplication (there's also no single well-established idiom). So using check_mul_overflow in kcalloc and friends may also make gcc generate slightly better code.
