2021-01-12arm/kasan: fix the array size of kasan_early_shadow_pte[]Hailong Liu
The size of kasan_early_shadow_pte[] now is PTRS_PER_PTE which defined to 512 for arm. This means that it only covers the prev Linux pte entries, but not the HWTABLE pte entries for arm. The reason it currently works is that the symbol kasan_early_shadow_page immediately following kasan_early_shadow_pte in memory is page aligned, which makes kasan_early_shadow_pte look like a 4KB size array. But we can't ensure the order is always right with different compiler/linker, or if more bss symbols are introduced. We had a test with QEMU + vexpress:put a 512KB-size symbol with attribute __section(".bss..page_aligned") after kasan_early_shadow_pte, and poisoned it after kasan_early_init(). Then enabled CONFIG_KASAN, it failed to boot up. 2021-01-12mm/memcontrol: fix warning in mem_cgroup_page_lruvec()Hugh Dickins
Boot a CONFIG_MEMCG=y kernel with "cgroup_disabled=memory" and you are met by a series of warnings from the VM_WARN_ON_ONCE_PAGE(!memcg, page) recently added to the inline mem_cgroup_page_lruvec(). An earlier attempt to place that warning, in mem_cgroup_lruvec(), had been careful to do so after weeding out the mem_cgroup_disabled() case; but was itself invalid because of the mem_cgroup_lruvec(NULL, pgdat) in clear_pgdat_congested() and age_active_anon(). Warning in mem_cgroup_page_lruvec() was once useful in detecting a KSM charge bug, so may be worth keeping: but skip if mem_cgroup_disabled(). 2021-01-12bpf: Support BPF ksym variables in kernel modulesAndrii Nakryiko
Add support for directly accessing kernel module variables from BPF programs using special ldimm64 instructions. This functionality builds upon vmlinux ksym support, but extends ldimm64 with src_reg=BPF_PSEUDO_BTF_ID to allow specifying kernel module BTF's FD in insn[1].imm field. During BPF program load time, verifier will resolve FD to BTF object and will take reference on BTF object itself and, for module BTFs, corresponding module as well, to make sure it won't be unloaded from under running BPF program. The mechanism used is similar to how bpf_prog keeps track of used bpf_maps. One interesting change is also in how per-CPU variable is determined. The logic is to find .data..percpu data section in provided BTF, but both vmlinux and module each have their own .data..percpu entries in BTF. So for module's case, the search for DATASEC record needs to look at only module's added BTF types. This is implemented with custom search function. 2021-01-12sysfs: Support zapping of binary attr mmapsDaniel Vetter
We want to be able to revoke pci mmaps so that the same access rules applies as for /dev/kmem. Revoke support for devmem was added in 3234ac664a87 ("/dev/mem: Revoke mappings when a driver claims the region"). The simplest way to achieve this is by having the same filp->f_mapping for all mappings, so that unmap_mapping_range can find them all, no matter through which file they've been created. Since this must be set at open time we need sysfs support for this. Add an optional mapping parameter bin_attr, which is only consulted when there's also an mmap callback, since without mmap support allowing to adjust the ->f_mapping makes no sense. 2021-01-12resource: Move devmem revoke code to resource frameworkDaniel Vetter
We want all iomem mmaps to consistently revoke ptes when the kernel takes over and CONFIG_IO_STRICT_DEVMEM is enabled. This includes the pci bar mmaps available through procfs and sysfs, which currently do not revoke mappings. To prepare for this, move the code from the /dev/kmem driver to kernel/resource.c. During review Jason spotted that barriers are used somewhat inconsistently. Fix that up while we shuffle this code, since it doesn't have an actual impact at runtime. Otherwise no semantic and behavioural changes intended, just code extraction and adjusting comments and names. 2021-01-12mm: Close race in generic_access_physDaniel Vetter
Way back it was a reasonable assumptions that iomem mappings never change the pfn range they point at. But this has changed: - gpu drivers dynamically manage their memory nowadays, invalidating ptes with unmap_mapping_range when buffers get moved - contiguous dma allocations have moved from dedicated carvetouts to cma regions. This means if we miss the unmap the pfn might contain pagecache or anon memory (well anything allocated with GFP_MOVEABLE) - even /dev/mem now invalidates mappings when the kernel requests that iomem region when CONFIG_IO_STRICT_DEVMEM is set, see 3234ac664a87 ("/dev/mem: Revoke mappings when a driver claims the region") Accessing pfns obtained from ptes without holding all the locks is therefore no longer a good idea. Fix this. Since ioremap might need to manipulate pagetables too we need to drop the pt lock and have a retry loop if we raced. While at it, also add kerneldoc and improve the comment for the vma_ops->access function. It's for accessing, not for moving the memory from iomem to system memory, as the old comment seemed to suggest. 2021-01-12mm/frame-vector: Use FOLL_LONGTERMDaniel Vetter
This is used by media/videbuf2 for persistent dma mappings, not just for a single dma operation and then freed again, so needs FOLL_LONGTERM. Unfortunately current pup_locked doesn't support FOLL_LONGTERM due to locking issues. Rework the code to pull the pup path out from the mmap_sem critical section as suggested by Jason. By relying entirely on the vma checks in pin_user_pages and follow_pfn (for vm_flags and vma_is_fsdax) we can also streamline the code a lot. Note that pin_user_pages_fast is a safe replacement despite the seeming lack of checking for vma->vm_flasg & (VM_IO | VM_PFNMAP). Such ptes are marked with pte_mkspecial (which pup_fast rejects in the fastpath), and only architectures supporting that support the pin_user_pages_fast fastpath. 2021-01-11net: compound page support in skb_seq_readWillem de Bruijn
skb_seq_read iterates over an skb, returning pointer and length of the next data range with each call. It relies on kmap_atomic to access highmem pages when needed. An skb frag may be backed by a compound page, but kmap_atomic maps only a single page. There are not enough kmap slots to always map all pages concurrently. Instead, if kmap_atomic is needed, iterate over each page. As this increases the number of calls, avoid this unless needed. The necessary condition is captured in skb_frag_must_loop. I tried to make the change as obvious as possible. It should be easy to verify that nothing changes if skb_frag_must_loop returns false. 2021-01-11net: support kmap_local forced debugging in skb_frag_foreachWillem de Bruijn
Skb frags may be backed by highmem and/or compound pages. Highmem pages need kmap_atomic mappings to access. But kmap_atomic maps a single page, not the entire compound page. skb_foreach_page iterates over an skb frag, in one step in the common case, page by page only if kmap_atomic must be called for each page. The decision logic is captured in skb_frag_must_loop. CONFIG_DEBUG_KMAP_LOCAL_FORCE_MAP extends kmap from highmem to all pages, to increase code coverage. Extend skb_frag_must_loop to this new condition. Stub functions are defined for SSR notifier registration in case QCOM_RPROC_COMMON is not configured. As a result, code that uses these functions can link successfully even if the common remoteproc code is not built. Code that registers an SSR notifier function likely needs the types defined in "qcom_rproc.h", but those are only exposed if QCOM_RPROC_COMMON is enabled. Rearrange the conditional definition so the qcom_ssr_notify_data structure and qcom_ssr_notify_type enumerated type are defined whether or not QCOM_RPROC_COMMON is enabled. 2021-01-08Revert "init/console: Use ttynull as a fallback when there is no console"Petr Mladek
This reverts commit 757055ae8dedf5333af17b3b5b4b70ba9bc9da4e. The commit caused that ttynull was used as the default console on several systems[1][2][3]. As a result, the console was blank even when a better alternative existed. It happened when there was no console configured on the command line and ttynull_init() was the first initcall calling register_console(). Or it happened when /dev/ did not exist when console_on_rootfs() was called. It was not able to open /dev/console even though a console driver was registered. It tried to add ttynull console but it obviously did not help. But ttynull became the preferred console and was used by /dev/console when it was available later. The commit tried to fix a historical problem that have been there for ages. The primary motivation was the commit 3cffa06aeef7ece30f6 ("printk/console: Allow to disable console output by using console="" or console=null"). It provided a clean solution for a workaround that was widely used and worked only by chance. This revert causes that the console="" or console=null command line options will again work only by chance. These options will cause that a particular console will be preferred and the default (tty) ones will not get enabled. There will be no console registered at all. As a result there won't be stdin, stdout, and stderr for the init process. But it worked exactly this way even before. The proper solution has to fulfill many conditions: + Register ttynull only when explicitly required or as the ultimate fallback. + ttynull should get associated with /dev/console but it must not become preferred console when used as a fallback. Especially, it must still be possible to replace it by a better console later. Such a change requires clean up of the register_console() code. Otherwise, it would be even harder to follow. Especially, the use of has_preferred_console and CON_CONSDEV flag is tricky. The clean up is risky. The ordering of consoles is not well defined. And any changes tend to break existing user settings. Do the revert at the least risky solution for now. Before this change, the caller of sock_zerocopy_callback would need to save the zerocopy status, decrement and check the refcount, and then call the callback function - the callback was only invoked when the refcount reached zero. Now, the caller just passes the status into the callback function, which saves the status and handles its own refcounts. This makes the behavior of the sock_zerocopy_callback identical to the tpacket and vhost callbacks.
