2015-01-25net: ipv6: Add sysctl entry to disable MTU updates from RAHarout Hedeshian
The kernel forcefully applies MTU values received in router advertisements provided the new MTU is less than the current. This behavior is undesirable when the user space is managing the MTU. Instead a sysctl flag 'accept_ra_mtu' is introduced such that the user space can control whether or not RA provided MTU updates should be applied. Netlink FDB messages are sent in the link netns. The header of these messages contains the ifindex (ndm_ifindex) of the netdevice, but this ifindex is unusable in case of x-netns vxlan. The hrtimer might wake up too early or too late. Too early is fatal as vcpu_block will see that the wakeup condition is not met and sleep again. This CPU might never wake up again. This series addresses this problem. adjclock slowing down the host clock will result in too late wakeups. This will require more work. In addition to that we also change the hrtimer from REALTIME to MONOTONIC to avoid similar problems with timedatectl set-time. 3. sigp rework We will move all "slow" sigps to QEMU (protected with a capability that can be enabled) to avoid several races between concurrent SIGP orders. 4. Optimize the shadow page table Provide an interface to announce the maximum guest size. The kernel will use that to make the pagetable 2,3,4 (or theoretically) 5 levels. 5. Provide an interface to set the guest TOD We now use two vm attributes instead of two oneregs, as oneregs are vcpu ioctl and we don't want to call them from other threads. 6. Protected key functions The real HMC allows to enable/disable protected key CPACF functions. Lets provide an implementation + an interface for QEMU to activate this the protected key instructions.
2015-01-23KVM: s390: forward most SIGP orders to user spaceDavid Hildenbrand
Most SIGP orders are handled partially in kernel and partially in user space. In order to: - Get a correct SIGP SET PREFIX handler that informs user space - Avoid race conditions between concurrently executed SIGP orders - Serialize SIGP orders per VCPU We need to handle all "slow" SIGP orders in user space. The remaining ones to be handled completely in kernel are: - SENSE - SENSE RUNNING - EXTERNAL CALL - EMERGENCY SIGNAL - CONDITIONAL EMERGENCY SIGNAL According to the PoP, they have to be fast. They can be executed without conflicting to the actions of other pending/concurrently executing orders (e.g. STOP vs. START). This patch introduces a new capability that will - when enabled - forward all but the mentioned SIGP orders to user space. The instruction counters in the kernel are still updated. In order to get rid of the action_flags and to properly migrate pending SIGP STOP irqs triggered e.g. by SIGP STOP AND STORE STATUS, we need to remember whether to store the status when stopping. For this reason, a new parameter (flags) for the SIGP STOP irq is introduced. These flags further define details of the requested STOP and can be easily migrated. Lightly tested against qemu. One thing *not* implemented here is separate mappings for descriptor/avail/used rings. That's nice to have, will be done later after we have core support. 2015-01-20arm/arm64: KVM: add virtual GICv3 distributor emulationAndre Przywara
With everything separated and prepared, we implement a model of a GICv3 distributor and redistributors by using the existing framework to provide handler functions for each register group. Currently we limit the emulation to a model enforcing a single security state, with SRE==1 (forcing system register access) and ARE==1 (allowing more than 8 VCPUs). We share some of the functions provided for GICv2 emulation, but take the different ways of addressing (v)CPUs into account. Save and restore is currently not implemented. Similar to the split-off of the GICv2 specific code, the new emulation code goes into a new file (vgic-v3-emul.c). There are known limitations currently: doesn't work for initial packets, since we only query the ct table. Fine given use case is for returning packets no implicit defrag. frags should be rare so fix later.. won't work for more complex tasks, e.g. lookup of other extensions since we have no means to store results we still have a 2nd lookup later on via normal conntrack path. This shouldn't break anything though since skb->nfct isn't altered. This patch adds a new attribute (IFLA_LINK_NETNSID) which contains the 'link' netns id when this netns is different from the netns where the interface stands (for example for x-net interfaces like ip tunnels). 2015-01-19netns: add rtnl cmd to add and get peer netns idsNicolas Dichtel
With this patch, a user can define an id for a peer netns by providing a FD or a PID. These ids are local to the netns where it is added (ie valid only into this netns). The main function (ie the one exported to other module), peernet2id(), allows to get the id of a peer netns. If no id has been assigned by the user, this function allocates one. 2015-01-15cfg80211: change bandwidth reporting to explicit fieldJohannes Berg
For some reason, we made the bandwidth separate flags, which is rather confusing - a single rate cannot have different bandwidths at the same time. Change this to no longer be flags but use a separate field for the bandwidth ('bw') instead. While at it, add support for 5 and 10 MHz rates - these are reported as regular legacy rates with their real bitrate, but tagged as 5/10 now to make it easier to distinguish them. During the CAN FD standardization process within the ISO it turned out that the failure detection capability has to be improved. The CAN in Automation organization (CiA) defined the already implemented CAN FD controllers as 'non-ISO' and the upcoming improved CAN FD controllers as 'ISO' compliant. See at http://www.can-cia.com/index.php?id=1937 Finally there will be three types of CAN FD controllers in the future: 1. ISO compliant (fixed) 2. non-ISO compliant (fixed, like the M_CAN IP v3.0.1 in m_can.c) 3. ISO/non-ISO CAN FD controllers (switchable, like the PEAK USB FD) So the current M_CAN driver for the M_CAN IP v3.0.1 has to expose its non-ISO implementation by setting the CAN_CTRLMODE_FD_NON_ISO ctrlmode at startup. As this bit cannot be switched at configuration time CAN_CTRLMODE_FD_NON_ISO must not be set in ctrlmode_supported of the current M_CAN driver. Introduces support for the group policy extension to the VXLAN virtual port. The extension is disabled by default and only enabled if the user has provided the respective configuration. ovs-vsctl add-port br0 vxlan0 -- \ set Interface vxlan0 type=vxlan options:exts=gbp The configuration interface to enable the extension is based on a new attribute OVS_VXLAN_EXT_GBP nested inside OVS_TUNNEL_ATTR_EXTENSION which can carry additional extensions as needed in the future. The group policy metadata is stored as binary blob (struct ovs_vxlan_opts) internally just like Geneve options but transported as nested Netlink attributes to user space. Renames the existing TUNNEL_OPTIONS_PRESENT to TUNNEL_GENEVE_OPT with the binary value kept intact, a new flag TUNNEL_VXLAN_OPT is introduced. Implements supports for the Group Policy VXLAN extension [0] to provide a lightweight and simple security label mechanism across network peers based on VXLAN. The security context and associated metadata is mapped to/from skb->mark. This allows further mapping to a SELinux context using SECMARK, to implement ACLs directly with nftables, iptables, OVS, tc, etc. The group membership is defined by the lower 16 bits of skb->mark, the upper 16 bits are used for flags. SELinux allows to manage label to secure local resources. However, distributed applications require ACLs to implemented across hosts. This is typically achieved by matching on L2-L4 fields to identify the original sending host and process on the receiver. On top of that, netlabel and specifically CIPSO [1] allow to map security contexts to universal labels. However, netlabel and CIPSO are relatively complex. This patch provides a lightweight alternative for overlay network environments with a trusted underlay. No additional control protocol is required. User space is currently sending a OVS_FLOW_ATTR_PROBE for both flow and packet messages. This leads to an out-of-bounds access in ovs_packet_cmd_execute() because OVS_FLOW_ATTR_PROBE > OVS_PACKET_ATTR_MAX. Introduce a new OVS_PACKET_ATTR_PROBE with the same numeric value as OVS_FLOW_ATTR_PROBE to grow the range of accepted packet attributes while maintaining to be binary compatible with existing OVS binaries. Add support for remote checksum offload in VXLAN. This uses a reserved bit to indicate that RCO is being done, and uses the low order reserved eight bits of the VNI to hold the start and offset values in a compressed manner. Start is encoded in the low order seven bits of VNI. This is start >> 1 so that the checksum start offset is 0-254 using even values only. Checksum offset (transport checksum field) is indicated in the high order bit in the low order byte of the VNI. If the bit is set, the checksum field is for UDP (so offset = start + 6), else checksum field is for TCP (so offset = start + 16). Only TCP and UDP are supported in this implementation. 2015-01-08vfs: renumber FMODE_NONOTIFY and add to uniqueness checkDavid Drysdale
Fix clashing values for O_PATH and FMODE_NONOTIFY on sparc. The clashing O_PATH value was added in commit 5229645bdc35 ("vfs: add nonconflicting values for O_PATH") but this can't be changed as it is user-visible. FMODE_NONOTIFY is only used internally in the kernel, but it is in the same numbering space as the other O_* flags, as indicated by the comment at the top of include/uapi/asm-generic/fcntl.h (and its use in fs/notify/fanotify/fanotify_user.c). So renumber it to avoid the clash. All of this has happened before (commit 12ed2e36c98a: "fanotify: FMODE_NONOTIFY and __O_SYNC in sparc conflict"), and all of this will happen again -- so update the uniqueness check in fcntl_init() to include __FMODE_NONOTIFY. The base for the current statistics is pretty mixed up, support exporting RX/TX statistics for MSDUs per TID. This (currently) covers received MSDUs, transmitted MSDUs and retries/failures thereof. Doing it per TID for MSDUs makes more sense than say only per AC because it's symmetric - we could export per-AC statistics for all frames (which AC we used for transmission can be determined also for management frames) but per TID is better and usually data frames are really the ones we care about.
