Add descriptions for mt8188 IOMMU which also use ARM Short-Descriptor translation table format. In mt8188, there are two smi-common HW and IOMMU, one is for vdo(video output), the other is for vpp(video processing pipe). They connects with different smi-larbs, then some setting(larbid_remap) is different. Differentiate them with the compatible string. Something like this: IOMMU(VDO) IOMMU(VPP) | | SMI_COMMON_VDO SMI_COMMON_VPP --------------- ---------------- | | ... | | ... larb0 larb2 ... larb1 larb3 ... We also have an IOMMU that is for infra master like PCIe. And infra master don't have the larb and ports. 2023-08-06vfs: get rid of old '->iterate' directory operationLinus Torvalds
All users now just use '->iterate_shared()', which only takes the directory inode lock for reading. Filesystems that never got convered to shared mode now instead use a wrapper that drops the lock, re-takes it in write mode, calls the old function, and then downgrades the lock back to read mode. This way the VFS layer and other callers no longer need to care about filesystems that never got converted to the modern era. The filesystems that use the new wrapper are ceph, coda, exfat, jfs, ntfs, ocfs2, overlayfs, and vboxsf. Honestly, several of them look like they really could just iterate their directories in shared mode and skip the wrapper entirely, but the point of this change is to not change semantics or fix filesystems that haven't been fixed in the last 7+ years, but to finally get rid of the dual iterators. Add page pool for RX buffers for faster buffer cycle and reduce CPU usage. The standard page pool API is used. With iperf and 128 threads test, this patch improved the throughput by 12-15%, and decreased the IRQ associated CPU's usage from 99-100% to 10-50%. 2023-08-05kobject: Reorder fields in 'struct kobject'Christophe JAILLET
Group some variables based on their sizes to reduce hole and avoid padding. On x86_64, this shrinks the size of 'struct kobject' from 256 to 244 bytes. This structure is often included in some other structures. So these other structures will also benefit from this 8 bytes saving. This is especially nice for structure like 'cma_kobject' or 'class_dir' that are now 256 bytes long. When they are kzalloc()'ed, 256 bytes are allocated, instead of 512. 2023-08-04drm/nouveau: new VM_BIND uAPI interfacesDanilo Krummrich
This commit provides the interfaces for the new UAPI motivated by the Vulkan API. It allows user mode drivers (UMDs) to: 1) Initialize a GPU virtual address (VA) space via the new DRM_IOCTL_NOUVEAU_VM_INIT ioctl. UMDs can provide a kernel reserved VA area. 2) Bind and unbind GPU VA space mappings via the new DRM_IOCTL_NOUVEAU_VM_BIND ioctl. 3) Execute push buffers with the new DRM_IOCTL_NOUVEAU_EXEC ioctl. Both, DRM_IOCTL_NOUVEAU_VM_BIND and DRM_IOCTL_NOUVEAU_EXEC support asynchronous processing with DRM syncobjs as synchronization mechanism. The default DRM_IOCTL_NOUVEAU_VM_BIND is synchronous processing, DRM_IOCTL_NOUVEAU_EXEC supports asynchronous processing only. nouveau > 10 years ago had a plan for new multiplexer inside a multiplexer API using nvif. It never fully reached fruition, fast forward 10 years, and the new vulkan driver is avoiding libdrm and calling ioctls, and these 3 ioctls, getparam, channel alloc + free don't seem to be things we'd want to use nvif for. Undeprecate and put them into the uapi header so we can just copy it into mesa later. v2: use uapi types. 2023-08-04drm/gem: fix lockdep check for dma-resv lockDanilo Krummrich
When no custom lock is set to protect a GEMs GPUVA list, lockdep checks should fall back to the GEM objects dma-resv lock. With the current implementation we're setting the lock_dep_map of the GEM objects 'resv' pointer (in case no custom lock_dep_map is set yet) on drm_gem_private_object_init(). However, the GEM objects 'resv' pointer might still change after drm_gem_private_object_init() is called, e.g. through ttm_bo_init_reserved(). This can result in the wrong lock being tracked. To fix this, call dma_resv_held() directly from drm_gem_gpuva_assert_lock_held() and fall back to the GEMs lock_dep_map pointer only if an actual custom lock is set. 2023-08-04of: Move of_platform_register_reconfig_notifier() into DT coreRob Herring
There's no reason the generic platform bus code needs to call of_platform_register_reconfig_notifier(). The notifier can be setup before the platform bus is. Let's move it into of_core_init() which is called just before platform_bus_init() instead to keep more of the DT bits in the DT code. 2023-08-04arm64: sdei: abort running SDEI handlers during crashD Scott Phillips
Interrupts are blocked in SDEI context, per the SDEI spec: "The client interrupts cannot preempt the event handler." If we crashed in the SDEI handler-running context (as with ACPI's AGDI) then we need to clean up the SDEI state before proceeding to the crash kernel so that the crash kernel can have working interrupts. Track the active SDEI handler per-cpu so that we can COMPLETE_AND_RESUME the handler, discarding the interrupted context. 2023-08-04bus: mhi: host: allow MHI client drivers to provide the firmware via a pointerKalle Valo
Currently MHI loads the firmware image from the path provided by client devices. ath11k needs to support firmware image embedded along with meta data (named as firmware-2.bin). So allow the client driver to request the firmware file from user space on it's own and provide the firmware image data and size to MHI via a pointer struct mhi_controller::fw_data. This is an optional feature, if fw_data is NULL MHI load the firmware using the name from struct mhi_controller::fw_image string as before. Tested with ath11k and WCN6855 hw2.0. 2023-08-03module: Expose module_init_layout_section()James Morse
module_init_layout_section() choses whether the core module loader considers a section as init or not. This affects the placement of the exit section when module unloading is disabled. This code will never run, so it can be free()d once the module has been initialised. arm and arm64 need to count the number of PLTs they need before applying relocations based on the section name. The init PLTs are stored separately so they can be free()d. arm and arm64 both use within_module_init() to decide which list of PLTs to use when applying the relocation. Because within_module_init()'s behaviour changes when module unloading is disabled, both architecture would need to take this into account when counting the PLTs.
