2025-04-11scsi: soc: qcom: ice: Make qcom_ice_program_key() take struct blk_crypto_keyEric Biggers
qcom_ice_program_key() currently accepts the key as an array of bytes, algorithm ID, key size enum, and data unit size. However both callers have a struct blk_crypto_key which contains all that information. Thus they both have similar code that converts the blk_crypto_key into the form that qcom_ice_program_key() wants. Once wrapped key support is added, the key type would need to be added to the arguments too. Therefore, this patch changes qcom_ice_program_key() to take in all this information as a struct blk_crypto_key directly. The calling code is updated accordingly. This ends up being much simpler, and it makes the key type be passed down automatically once wrapped key support is added. Based on a patch by Gaurav Kashyap <quic_gaurkash@quicinc.com> that replaced the byte array argument only. This patch makes the blk_crypto_key replace other arguments like the algorithm ID too, ensuring that there remains only one source of truth. We got a late smatch warning and some additional review feedback. smatch warnings: mm/memory.c:1428 copy_page_range() error: uninitialized symbol 'pfn'. We actually use the pfn only when it is properly initialized; however, we may pass an uninitialized value to a function -- although it will not use it that likely still is UB in C. So let's just fix it by always initializing pfn in the caller of track_pfn_copy(), and improving the documentation of track_pfn_copy(). While at it, clarify the doc of untrack_pfn_copy(), that internal checks make sure if we actually have to untrack anything. 2025-04-11locking/local_lock, mm: replace localtry_ helpers with local_trylock_t typeAlexei Starovoitov
Partially revert commit 0aaddfb06882 ("locking/local_lock: Introduce localtry_lock_t"). Remove localtry_*() helpers, since localtry_lock() name might be misinterpreted as "try lock". Introduce local_trylock[_irqsave]() helpers that only work with newly introduced local_trylock_t type. Note that attempt to use local_trylock[_irqsave]() with local_lock_t will cause compilation failure. Usage and behavior in !PREEMPT_RT: local_lock_t lock; // sizeof(lock) == 0 local_lock(&lock); // preempt disable local_lock_irqsave(&lock, ...); // irq save if (local_trylock_irqsave(&lock, ...)) // compilation error local_trylock_t lock; // sizeof(lock) == 4 local_lock(&lock); // preempt disable, acquired = 1 local_lock_irqsave(&lock, ...); // irq save, acquired = 1 if (local_trylock(&lock)) // if (!acquired) preempt disable, acquired = 1 if (local_trylock_irqsave(&lock, ...)) // if (!acquired) irq save, acquired = 1 The existing local_lock_*() macros can be used either with local_lock_t or local_trylock_t. With local_trylock_t they set acquired = 1 while local_unlock_*() clears it. In !PREEMPT_RT local_lock_irqsave(local_lock_t *) disables interrupts to protect critical section, but it doesn't prevent NMI, so the fully reentrant code cannot use local_lock_irqsave(local_lock_t *) for exclusive access. The local_lock_irqsave(local_trylock_t *) helper disables interrupts and sets acquired=1, so local_trylock_irqsave(local_trylock_t *) from NMI attempting to acquire the same lock will return false. In PREEMPT_RT local_lock_irqsave() maps to preemptible spin_lock(). Map local_trylock_irqsave() to preemptible spin_trylock(). When in hard IRQ or NMI return false right away, since spin_trylock() is not safe due to explicit locking in the underneath rt_spin_trylock() implementation. Removing this explicit locking and attempting only "trylock" is undesired due to PI implications. The local_trylock() without _irqsave can be used to avoid the cost of disabling/enabling interrupts by only disabling preemption, so local_trylock() in an interrupt attempting to acquire the same lock will return false. Note there is no need to use local_inc for acquired variable, since it's a percpu variable with strict nesting scopes. Note that guard(local_lock)(&lock) works only for "local_lock_t lock". The patch also makes sure that local_lock_release(l) is called before WRITE_ONCE(l->acquired, 0). Though IRQs are disabled at this point the local_trylock() from NMI will succeed and local_lock_acquire(l) will warn. 2025-04-11vt: properly support zero-width Unicode code pointsNicolas Pitre
Zero-width Unicode code points are causing misalignment in vertically aligned content, disrupting the visual layout. Let's handle zero-width code points more intelligently. Double-width code points are stored in the screen grid followed by a white space code point to create the expected screen layout. When a double-width code point is followed by a zero-width code point in the console incoming bytestream (e.g., an emoji with a presentation selector) then we may replace the white space padding by that zero-width code point instead of dropping it. This maximize screen content information while preserving proper layout. If a zero-width code point is preceded by a single-width code point then the above trick is not possible and such zero-width code point must be dropped. VS16 (Variation Selector 16, U+FE0F) is special as it doubles the width of the preceding single-width code point. We handle that case by giving VS16 a width of 1 when that happens. 2025-04-11dcache: convert dentry flag macros to enumOmar Sandoval
Commit 9748cb2dc393 ("VFS: repack DENTRY_ flags.") changed the value of DCACHE_MOUNTED, which broke drgn's path_lookup() helper. drgn is forced to hard-code it because it's a macro, and macros aren't preserved in debugging information by default. Enums, on the other hand, are included in debugging information. Convert the DCACHE_* flag macros to an enum so that debugging tools like drgn and bpftrace can make use of them. 2025-04-11usb: host: xhci: Notify xHCI sideband on transfer ring freeWesley Cheng
In the case of handling a USB bus reset, the xhci_discover_or_reset_device can run without first notifying the xHCI sideband client driver to stop or prevent the use of the transfer ring. It was seen that when a bus reset situation happened, the USB offload driver was attempting to fetch the xHCI transfer ring information, which was already freed. 2025-04-11xhci: sideband: add initial api to register a secondary interrupter entityMathias Nyman
Introduce XHCI sideband, which manages the USB endpoints being requested by a client driver. This is used for when client drivers are attempting to offload USB endpoints to another entity for handling USB transfers. XHCI sec intr will allow for drivers to fetch the required information about the transfer ring, so the user can submit transfers independently. Expose the required APIs for drivers to register and request for a USB endpoint and to manage XHCI secondary interrupters. Driver renaming, multiple ring segment page linking, proper endpoint clean up, and allowing module compilation added by Wesley Cheng to complete original concept code by Mathias Nyman. 2025-04-11accel/ivpu: Fix the NPU's DPU frequency calculationAndrzej Kacprowski
Fix the frequency returned to the user space by the DRM_IVPU_PARAM_CORE_CLOCK_RATE GET_PARAM IOCTL. The kernel driver returned CPU frequency for MTL and bare PLL frequency for LNL - this was inconsistent and incorrect for both platforms. With this fix the driver returns maximum frequency of the NPU data processing unit (DPU) for all HW generations. This is what user space always expected. Also do not set CPU frequency in boot params - the firmware does not use frequency passed from the driver, it was only used by the early pre-production firmware. With that we can remove CPU frequency calculation code. Show NPU frequency in FREQ_CHANGE interrupt when frequency tracking is enabled. Devices in the networking path, such as firewalls, NATs, or routers, which can perform SNAT or DNAT, use addresses from their own limited address pools to masquerade the source address during forwarding, causing PAWS verification to fail more easily. Currently, packet loss statistics for PAWS can only be viewed through MIB, which is a global metric and cannot be precisely obtained through tracing to get the specific 4-tuple of the dropped packet. In the past, we had to use kprobe ret to retrieve relevant skb information from tcp_timewait_state_process(). Call cs_dsp_mock_xm_header_get_fw_version() to get the firmware version from the dummy XM header data in cs_dsp_bin_err_test_common_init(). Make the same change to cs_dsp_bin_test_common_init() and remove the cs_dsp_mock_xm_header_get_fw_version_from_regmap() function. The code in cs_dsp_test_bin.c was correctly calling cs_dsp_mock_xm_header_get_fw_version_from_regmap() to fetch the fw version from a dummy header it wrote to XM registers. However in cs_dsp_test_bin_error.c the test doesn't stuff a dummy header into XM, it populates it the normal way using a wmfw file. It should have called cs_dsp_mock_xm_header_get_fw_version() to get the data from its blob buffer, but was calling cs_dsp_mock_xm_header_get_fw_version_from_regmap(). As nothing had been written to the registers this returned the value of uninitialized data. The only other use of cs_dsp_mock_xm_header_get_fw_version_from_regmap() was cs_dsp_test_bin.c, but it doesn't need to use it. It already has a blob buffer containing the dummy XM header so it can use cs_dsp_mock_xm_header_get_fw_version() to read from that. Implement support for Exynos7870 USB DRD on top of the existing exynos5-usbdrd driver. Exynos7870 has a single USB 2.0 DRD PHY controller and no 3.0 PHYs. Thus, it only supports the UTMI interface. Moreover, the PMU register offset for enabling the PHY controller is different for SoCs such as Exynos7870, where BIT(0) is for the 3.0 PHY and BIT(1) is for the 2.0 PHY. The phy_isol function for Exynos7870 uses the appropriate register offsets. 2025-04-10backlight: Implement fbdev tracking with blank state from eventThomas Zimmermann
Look at the blank state provided by FB_EVENT_BLANK to determine whether to enable or disable a backlight. Remove the tracking fields from struct backlight_device. Tracking requires three variables, fb_on, prev_fb_on and the backlight's use_count. If fb_on is true, the display has been unblanked. The backlight needs to be enabled if the display was blanked before (i.e., prev_fb_on is false) or if use_count is still at 0. If fb_on is false, the display has been blanked. In this case, the backlight has to be disabled was unblanked before and the backlight's use_count is greater than 0. This change removes fbdev state tracking from blacklight. All the backlight requires it its own use counter and information about changes to the display. Removing fbdev internals makes backlight drivers easier to integrate into other display drivers, such as DRM.
